Ok Ill take that as a big NO!then What about some side skirts or one of those little M style lip spoilers?I want to change the rear lights to the clear 2001 models Ive seen on trade me which seem a bit pricey.Who is a good wrecker to contact or would they charge about the same?

Cool! I think it looks better as well so thats money well spent.Only had it back a couple of days but it does seem to handle better on the crap roads here in Tga.I think it helps take away that" Pimp my ride" look and the curcumference of the 19" wheels seems to follow the gaurd line so it looks a little more aggressive rather than laid back.I was thinking of putting some crome M3 grills in the gaurds "without the m3 badging".Good or bad idea?

Hi Tony There are quite a few case's of the GM auto giving problems in reverse gear on models that had done 80000 mls plus.It seems to be abit of a time bomb with a certain part within the auto and if the box fails can land you with a bill of $6000.00.If you have a good warranty don't worry about it.

Lifted the car up 15mm Heres a couple of before and after shots. Which do you think looks better and why?and which do you think handles better.Right pic is on B&G 45mm drop coils,Left pic is on german Vogtland 40mm drop. Its hard to tell the difference but the rear of the car is more tucked under in the right pic.

Is this an urban legend? You decide http://www.intuh.net/barnfinds/afa70.htm

Took the car to coombes and the mat in the front set is stuffed. $895.00 inc labour to fix.Im just glad I have Mech Insurance.

Its funny you mentioned Jaycar products today as I was reading some mag in a cafe that gave the gear a pretty good review on one of there amps.Being a home electronics type store I thought anything from there would be money wasted on some thing cheap and nasty but I guess im a bit ignorant and shouldn't judge a book by its cover. We have a store in TGA so Ill check it out.The stereo sort of got pushed back in the priority list as some unexpected bills came along.

I brought a piper cross filter to fit my stock filter box for my e46 323 and could't get the bloody thing to fit. I compered it to the original and found it to be 6mm longer. The K&N appeared to be the same so I found one made by Simota which went in with no probs. I was wondering if any one else had struck the same problem? Just out of interest I noticed I gained about another 1.2 KLms to the ltr according to the trip computer.

What would you pay for a set of headers and can you buy them local or do you have to buy from the UK? looking at sites on the USA is probably a waste of time as everything will be for left hand drive. There would't be many sets kicking around second hand here.

If you want to fix something you have to do it yourself! after pulling the passenger seat out checking the plugs wiring harness etc it looks like the mat is faulty. Rung protecta insurance and its covered under the warrenty.Great! should of just taken it to coombes paid the $250 excess and have them sort it out from the begining.Fixed the indicator light problem, I gave the zinc coating on the bulb holder a bit of a scuff and cleaned all the terminals and it seems to work fine now but if it plays up again I think Ill just replace the rear lights with some of the latter model tail lights with the orange bulbs. I think these cars are too intelligent for there own good.

Happy new year to you as well. It will be interesting to see the results when your 328 is fitted out.I was wondering how you get around the problem of taking the oxygen sensors out of the exhaust system with out causing grief to the engine managment system?
-
If I throw off the exhaust from cats and run a twin system back to rear how much H/P would I gain and is it worth it. the engine is the M52tu 2.5ltr 170bhp. I read that there is cats in the headers but i carn't see any thing that looks like cats there. Its just 2 seperate headers that run straight down to the twin cats at the bottom and then expands to like a big single pipe all the way back to the twin outlet exhaust.

I don,t live in your area but I can tell you as a qaulified Refrig engineer to take it to a proper auto A/C mech. places like Climatech will do it for you but most likely do a poor job of it. The problem is when they recharge the system the car is stationary so the discharge side of the system gets hot and the wrong amount of refrigerant gets put in.A/C mechs use a large fan to blow across the condensor to compensate for this.If the weigh in charge is written on the car its not so much of an issue but the label is usually missing. Also the A/C mechs have a travel lift so can get right under the vehical for a good look to make sure the gas hasn't escaped from a loose fitting some where hard to find.

E46 & E36 suspension & transmission problems
eef48 replied to tonylauno1's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Ive read the same thing about the auto's in the 323's giving grief. Its been a big problem in the states. The gearboxs in question as I understand it where made by GM {enough said} and some small part in the auto was failing and causing the revese gear issue at around 60000mls on. I don't know if every model was a problem but there seemed to be alot of it happening with the 2000 e46 323 which is what I have. I decided to take out a 3 year warrenty on the car when I brought mine just to be safe. Mine is a jap import and has only done 45000klms so I hope I don,t have any issues in the short term but who knows. Im not sure if the auto's in question is a global thing or only in certain areas. A $6000.00 repair bill is probably what your up for if things do go wrong. Get a good warrenty and don't worry about it. My mate brought a brand new Holden and it seized the first day he had it. -
Looks like there'll be a V8 M3 motor for sale soon !!!

What you mean like some plonkers kit car or worse ;;; a Jappa! -
I Don't know. Maybe they gave the shop the wrong springs to begin with. I think I need a drink
-
I had thought about that option but losing half the house etc it became an expensive exercise. Also the rear of the car is bottoming out on the stops which makes the ride abit uncomfortable at times. The car bottomed out on the chassie going over a speed hump the other day so it just becomes a pain having to crawl over every piece of dodgy road which is pretty common in TGA. I don,t think new shocks is the answer. If Im going to do that I might as well throw in a whole set of adjustables for $1600.00.

After spending $300.00 on having the front spoiler repaired on my 323 because the wife hit a concrete curb Ive decided I want to lift the car about 25mm from where it currently sits. When I brought the car it came with a brand new set of B & G 45mm drop spings in it.The car has only traveled about 2000 klms on these so are like band new.I would like the car to sit the same height as a motersport coupe or M3 so if you have a set of these you would like to swap send me a reply.Heres a pic of the car at its current height which looks great but is not practical for the way it is being used.I can get the original springs for the car but thats too high and not firm enough going by the other e46s Ive driven.
-
Would you have a set of coil springs out of a m sport coupe to suit a 2000 E46 323 sedan? At the moment the car has a 45mm drop and I want to lift it up a tad.

Hi Team. I have a couple of faults that have appeared in my 2000 E46 323 lately.I thought they maybe a quick fix before I go handing over my coin to some BMW tech to sort out. The air bag malfunction light comes on when someone sits in the front passenger seat. The left rear indicator light flashs on and off quickly and then goes back to normal after a few seconds.Ive tried changing the bulb, same thing, the light works it just seems to spaze out sometimes and it shows as a fault on the instrument cluster sometimes.Bad earth fault? Thanks for any info.

Nice looking car,Ill have to show a pic of it to my bro,he has an E36 that he,s looking to do a few mods on.
