  2. Today's progress was slow, due to that damn water pump. What a pita of a thing to remove and in the process, I broke the pully - sigh. However it was not a complete loss, managed to finish the rocker covers (one of my favourite colours), replaced the Sump gasket, oil pump O-rings and started cleaning the subframe and thermosta

  3. Started stripping down the M62 and replacing a few bits and bobs like sensors etc.

Have also decided on Galaxy Purple for the rocker covers and a few other pieces too. Should match up with the flat Audi / Lambo Grey quite well.

Should have the motor and subframe back in within the next week days, hopefully before I head to Bali

    Will e46 wheels work?

I have a couple of old e46 wheels and tyres you can use for as long as u want.

Thanks mate, but I don't think the E46 will fit due to the centre bore size, plus they will be kept on the car when it goes to the srappies or new owner

  6. Friday it was decided that the time had come for the long awaited heart transplant. So we began stripping the 2.8 out of the ute and marking all the bits and bobs. I then began striping the 4.4 and marking it's bits and bobs for match up to the ute. Was easiest to drop the entire subframe from both cars as to just swap them over ? the plan for this week is to get the M62 stripped, cleaned and rebuilt, as well as giving the utes engine bay a good clean and tidy up.

wow, this looks like a well-loved project without the risks of a 540i, and at a great price.

Gotta ahat's with that boot carpet?  Did you spill a soufle in there, or butcher a deer?! ?

Good luck with the sale, looks great from here.

I have a mint condition boot carpet with them rubber straps, for strapping rubber bits, if needed.

But as @Olaf said, its a great looking 540i. Id be keen if i didnt have so many other projects ? GLWS

They are a great offset for the e46, but if I had known it was you I was bidding against I would have quit alot earlier.

Have you thought about taking the damaged wheel to someone like the magwheelguru in manukau to see what the costs of repair are? That would have been my first move.

Cool, will give them a shout 9n Monday as well as arrow wheels. After another inspection, the buckled part is also cracked. Repair could cost more then the wheels did haha

  9. Style 95s with Archillies Tyres.
Wheels are in good condition minus a few pieces of coating coming off, and some slight curbing.
Tyres have less than 2000km on them with heaps of tread left.
    245/30/19 up front
    275/30/19 at rear

As Qube mentioned what you are saying is totally wrong.

The Penrite website 540i E60 it says 5W40 or 0W40.  I CBF going down to Repco just to check but I'm pretty sure the info will be the same.

Edit:L I just checked Repco's website and it says a 540i E60 2006 the only Penrite oil that fits is HPR5 5W40.  For Castrol the Repco website says 5W30, 5W40 and 0W40 are suitable.

Read my post again... I never said anything about their website, i said their stations within Repco. But thanks for taking the time out, of what must be a busy schedule, to investigate and point that all out

If the motors knackered it wouldn't matter what you used, but that is the correct oil to use for this model of vehicle in good mechanical condition.

Thanks, the engine is in great condition for its age and mileage, 12 years of service history until 2017. Oil is pretty black now so will need a decent service i think. Ill try the 5w30 and see how we go. Thanks
