  1. I bought mine early 2000 (1990 jappa) and it had one little crack. If only people used armourall more often
  2. Cracks always appear in the standard stress places - unless you a good person and protect your dash...Most common spot is in the right corner of dash recess/nieche, usually splits towards the passenger. Easily welded. Also in the recess the left corner and middle crack. I've also seen cracks at the back of the dash backwards from the tacho display arches. Once cracks get too big you can't weld them, pays to get onto them smartly.
  3. Don't believe what owners will say about things, get under the car and look for rust, paying particular attention to the common spots. Also get inside the car and check if it's really dry, you don't want a leaky car. The a/con is probably busted, is commonplace for people to say it needs gassing when really it's farked. As for the list, if the a/con is busted just remove it for the weight and power gains, good for 318's. Window may need lube? Jacks are easy to replace Jap plate surround is a no brainer Dash cracks are common place, if not too bad then you can get them vinyl welded with price depending on quality. I paid $35 for the last repair, 3 cracks, 1 major (2cm), okay quality. Edit: 100ks is the mark for repairs, so they say, mine's sitting on 102,000 right now, had it since 57,000. Mine needs cam belt redone as I don't know if it's been done and I doubt it. See if team McM have done the belt, if not you'll probably want to do it

PM Ian as he now has a parts car I have a shift boot and original bmw logo gear knob, both in reasonable condition.
  5. Are you sure E34's ran to 1996, thought they were to 1995...
  6. Yeah, I was wondering, would worn engine and/or g/box mounts add vibrations to the car when accelerating or cruising??? Anyone know what worn mounts do???
  7. That's old news, Stephen (Skidz) has been trying to sell that for a while. Note that Mike took the rear sway bar for his 318, that should've tightened up his rear end the loose blighter My understanding is that it would be a suitable upgrade for a 316 or 318 and perhaps a 320 as it'd be stiffer than their current ones.

    o_O?

hahaha, that's the shizzle, 50hp gains to be made there easily I think the CAI could use something similar, perhaps a giant funnel, has anyone thought of adding a vacuum cleaner onto an intake???

    M3

Think carefully, do you mean, semi useful, because the car is undriveable, or that you think M3's are only semi useful? Semi-useful because it's not road useable (yet, or without hacking it up) but is track useable.IMO, I would prefer to have a m325 (mtech2), cheaper and has option of doing 2.7 conversion. Who cares if they're rare as hens teeth. It's like commiting a sin and actually having a dream car then discovering it's not really what it's cracked up to be. I'll bet you'll find it lacking somewhat in the torque section.

And we all sit in wonder as to why Sparkle doesn't have the ladies beating down his door...... its coz ive got my priorities right g-man. Do I need to bash you again Sparkle???Admittedly though weddings are a chick thing, if only they realised the financial side of it, the two couples I know that are on their 2nd marriages have both had low key cheaper 2nd weddings. Was reassuring when one of the girls told my mrs that weddings are a waste of money, hopefully it sinks into her. $20k on a car which is only semi useful??? IMO the body kit is the only decent part, your better off with a m325.

Hey, this is a cool site (if not already posted) Check out the different bbs rims on E30's, you get to choose Upgrade Garage EDIT: This tends to suggest which rims fit the E30, ie, offsets

How did this thread get onto rims??? First thing to do when you receive delivery is remove the jap plate surrounds, then you're already on your way to making it look better, go the bimmer :thumb: BTW, check the maintenance threads in regards to E36's, may pay to give the car a thorough look over when you get it paying particular attention to the standard E36 pitfalls - preventative maintenance Cheers

    oil leak

Nope, just find a replacement sump from any other E30 4cyl and do it on your next oil change

    oil leak

Check your sump plug isn't damaged/loose, then go from there.
  22. Engine mount you say??? Could be gearbox mounts, when I did my conversion I tried to use the two best mounts from the 4 I had but they were all shot from something or other...common but not the cause of the thump IMHO
  23. This thread is OT so i've started a meetings thread regarding our impromptue meeting E: Just to clarify something since WAGON made the comment, the CV joints are located on the rear axles encased in rubber (CV boots obviously) where the axles join the diff stubs right???
  24. I'll PM you Paul to get you in on the group email. We won't be doing anything on the cars bar me showing Dan what I know to check for on the air intake system and the regular things to be careful of when you own an E30
  25. Wheel bearings you can check yourself by jacking up the car and playing with the wheel listening for rough sound or sideways movement. That's what the WOF guys do when warrenting a car. Last warrant they said I needed a new bearing when all it needed was a little grease
