BMW POWER: Do you have a high res of the M3? Cheers.
-
Low end used cars in Australia are near double the price compared with NZ equivalents. Most stock e30 325i 's are still demanding 7k, up to 11k, and the 325iS goes for around $15k. E36 M3's are also typically over 40k (some around 35k mark). Those are the cars I have looked at anyway, so I would recommend getting yours across if you can. Import tariffs designed to protect Australain produced cars (Holden, Ford, Mitsi) really hold up the bottom end of the market.

I hate banks, they are completely useless and charge a lot of money for it. Anyone else had any trouble trying to get finance when they have recently started working? 'oh, you havnt worked for 3 months yet? well, you're on probation..' Like hell I am.
-
If I get it I'll be keeping it in Australia until 2007 anyway. It all comes down to the bank now. I'll be posting a few pictures if I do.

Thanks Andrew, So, after scanning through that link quickly, if I'm trying to import a 1987 LHD M3 from Australia I'm sh*t out of luck? Cheers Ash

Ah, excellent, I'm a Kiwi but living in Australia, I will (if I get it) have the car for more than 6 months. Then I would like to send it home (NZ) when I move elsewhere.

Howdy all, could someone give me a very brief rundown of what is required to import a car (from Australia- if this makes any difference) into NZ. Minimum age, side intrusion bars etc? Cheers.

Turned out to be an M535i, falsely advertised as an M5. Nevermind, thanks anyway guys. Cheers

As the title suggests. I might be flying to Sydney to have a look at one, anything to look out for? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, Australian prices are ludicrous- they have high tariffs to protect the Holdens and Fords. So that price is standard if a little high. I rung the guy and he said it had an LSD and the reason it has no kit, is that no kit was an option that owner choose when he bought it (strange I know). But LSD is LSD. Apparantly this is more like an 'm' optioned 325i (as there is no such thing as an m325i - like in NZ, the Australian equivilant is the 325iS) (Correct me if I'm wrong here) So, Alpina TB make minimal difference?

Howdy, http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/...rch_distance=25 What do you think? Anything to look out for when I test drive it? Any advice appreciated. Timing belt changed at 225km Thanks Ash

t this stage I'm prepared to ship interstate if the right car came up. So any information is useful. For example, are the Australian 325iS' the same as NZ's m325i'? Mostly cosmetic (plus suspension) changes? And can you tell a real 325iS using the same principles (ie black headliner etc)?

After finally finishing uni last year and landing a job that pays decent money, I can start my BMW hunt. I feel I'm pretty up to speed with the BMW's of Aoteroa, but I'm now living in Australia and need some help coming to grips with things over here. Specifically I'm interested in the Australian 325iS, if any South African 325iS (2.7L) found there way to Australia, and any general sources of info (www.com.au). Thanks Ash

New avatar- hope it works. New job too- no points for guessing where.

As with most righteous extremists.... Some food for thought. The current Limits must take into account ALL drivers/vehicles/conditions for any particular section of road. Consider this: a ratty arse pos 197X rusted junk mobile is legally allowed to travel at 100km/h, the same limit for a modern sports/supercar....the old pos would take at least twice as long to stop and a far reduced chance of aiding the driver in an emergency situation...... I dont condone speeding, as it keeps my chances of being killed by someone else at a lower level. I do however sit on 110km/h on all long haul trips in my modern car and where I deem it appropriate. Common sense and driver ed. will do more than any angry crap about NEVER speeding . I wonder how educational it would be to strap every new full lisence driver into a control crash at say 30km/h......

Thats been there for months..... bargin to be had.
-
Bah, rubbish..... A nice set of deep dish bbs 15/16's would make that car look great.. I'm not a huge fan of the colour either....

Speedo out in an e30- nah We WERE doing 247... dont knock it back

Each to there own- I have drivin in Italty (madness), Switzerland (madness)- infact most europeon drivers never pull over or give way- its just too busy and frantic- I've been passed by 1. nothing litre sowing machines around blind corners in the Swiss Alps. There are too many people on the road to be curteous- you'd never get anywhere. Plus, mexico, japan (Fantastic), australia (worse than NZ) Without actually have driven in whales, germany, holland i would have assumed those countries to be ok. It all comes down to experience i guess and everone experiences different situations. With more road km per capita than any other country (AFAIK- or maybe canada, or states?), we do ok... I'm not trying say driving in NZ is fanatastic- I get pissed off as much as everyone else at the stupidity I see on the roads- but comparatively- it isn;t that bad at all. Rant rant
-
Firstly - How many of you who have posted here have driven in other countries? Driving in NZ is great- FACT get over it. There are better.. but there are far worse too- This may be hard for you to believe but NZ, on the whole are polite and considerate - you do not realise this until you drive elsewhere. I agree- I watch my speedo far too much- the campaigns have made me paranoid. Speed is completly related to reaction time- how many times do you see driviers not paying attention... I really hate being a passenger with a non-attentive driver- makes me nervous. Speeding = tickets, thats fine, we all know the rules The over 10kph over the limit is a fantastic rule- its so clear cut, allows for speedo error and speed creap when you descending hills etc (In Victoria, Australia is 3kmph over- crazy).
