Theres probably a difference between face lift and pre face lift tho sunroof winder rails. Ive always owned pre facelifts so its a strait swap. You should put the switch for the roof winder down by the window switches while your at it, Saves the hassle of reaching up. And use the non sun roof type trim so theres no hole where the winder or switch were.

Pritty much really, it will work sweet, if it blows fuses find a diff source tho, dont go putting a bigger fuse in haha.

air flow meter?

Dont hit the tie rod at all, just take the nut off completely and use a hammer to hit the actual strut where the tie rods bolt (thread) is going through it. just do that a few times and the impact should just shock it out. You should need to use anything to priy it out either. Not with much force anyway if at all. When it comes time to put it back in, put a jack under the tie rod where the bolt part is so you get some upwards pressure onto it on the strut. Otherwise the tie rod bolt will just spin on you.

Changing the sunroof from manual to electric is easy az. You dont need to change jack all except the the manual winder unit with the electric one. and the roof interior trim part, ( one the sunvisors screw to) wiring it in is simple aswel. You only need to run a power (only on when key is on)and earth up one of the pillars to the electric unit. ive also got the parts needed and can write a description of how to install if needed. Could be done in an hour easy I rekon. To remove the roof liner in one piece is probably the hardest part if you need to take the sunroof out completely. Once you have that off taking the sunroof out is fairly strait forward.

Ive got a used rotor and cap lying around that you can have for like $13.50 including postage. Ther've done a few kms but wernt miss firing or anything. But get prices from bmw and euro italia first, your probably still better off to just spend the money and get a new 1 to save hassles down the road.

Basically have the 2.5 m50 cos i got it cheap , otherwise i probably would have gone for something m3. plus i Need to keep it as a 6 cylinder to stay within the race class rules. I just figured better of spending money on a dohc rather than a sohc in the long run.
-
yeah ive got it listed on trademe still.

Mods done since last post, removed the standard dash and built a smaller custom alloy one, Made alloy door cards, Stripped all un needed electrics 17" 5zigen Rims with toyo race tyres. Changed the front lip to a lower one, (no idea who its made by) Got the m50 2.5 non vanos engine and sused all the wiring for conversion. fitted an lsd diff. (have 2 lsd diffs with different ratios to experiment a bit with)

updated images. (before m50 conversion) took it to the track once and had major power issues, ecu had packed a sad and the alternator wasnt switching on so rather than pissing around with it i just began to get it ready for the m50. Will have more updated images soon of engine bay.

Im gonna use a golf gti brake booster, its half the size and doesnt need to be modded to make it fit the arm inside the car. (other than to drill the pin hole slot on arm a few mm's bigger) and use e28 engine mounts with a 20mm alloy packer on the passenger side mount. Havent decided what to do about the gearbox mounts tho, just for the fact the box will be on the piss, So at this stage i only have the e30 ones but havent attempted anything with them yet. think it will be about 10 degress on the piss or so.

When installing a uniden alarm into an e30 you need to use two relays to reverse the signal to the central locking solenoid to make them work. ( also called an interface if supplied by uniden) The common problems are .. 1) the solenoid on the driver door is out of adjustment.. 2) the driver door soleniod is dead 3) No relays or interface installed in the alarm ( was alarm a home jobby? ) If the unit behind the kick panel is faulty then you will have problems with the central locking from where ever you try the key, Boot etc. If the alarm worked in the past its probably just a faulty solenoid or out of alignment.

I just checked with the who did it, He did it to a 525e used the supercharger from a 96 toyota estima. And used piping from a bunch of other kits to get it to fit up. Ill try get a photo from him so you can see how it looked.
-
try Using the older celica 2.4 liter gt4 supercharger. not sure how easy they are to find but there about the right size for the m20 engines. and are electronically switchable so you can turn it on and off as you like. (its slightly bigger than the mr2 supercharger) Have a feeling they mite be in the toyota estima's aswel.

I have a 242 box if its worth anything to you.
-
Oh yeah Im also after a set of custom exhaust headers aswel so if anyone out there has a set to sell gimme a Pm.
-
Oh yeah ive got the m20 starter aswel. Have you got an e28 box cross member mount? whats it worth to you?
-
yeah i have an m50 2.5 already , also got an e34 oil pan, Using e28 engine mounts and im converting the original e30 fuse box to support the m50 engine myself. ive got the brake booster from an e36. And im taking off the front fan on the engine so that i can fit the e34 radiator in and have wired in an electric fan instead. Im going to use a 260 manual box that i have and use an e30 flywheel and clutch + pressure plate. and use e30 325i drive shaft. Have also got an lsd 3.45 ratio diff in the car but mite change the ratio later, Just going to experiment a bit haha. so at this stage im pritty sweet parts wise just havent done anything about the gearbox mounts yet. Was told that i may need an e28 gearbox cross member but i havent really found any sources that actually show whats used or how it looks. Is there any one else on bimmersport thats done this conversion with a 260 box?
-
sweeet, Ill check it out, just worry cos it sits on a lean when bolted to the engine. What have you decided to do engine wise with your ride now?
-
Ive started to do an m50 conversion into my 325i e30. Most of the conversion is strait forward except i plan to use the e30 260 gearbox rather than an e36 manual box does anyone know where i can get some info on the mods needed to be done to use the older box? Ive sused the wiring, mounts, sump, radiator, and brake booster so far, So just need to work out what im going to do with box before i attempt to drop the engine.

I need to find an e36 or e34 jatco branded auto gearbox. for an m50 engine problem is I only have 450$ to spend on a box. If anyones got one or a few let me know. cheers Mike.
