    CLA180/250

Is the Levorg really not a good handler?  Surprising.

Yeah suspension setup for motorways, was bunch of people in aussie trying to get their money back on them due to dangerous handling on real roads, the fix is apparently WRX struts. I took one for a drive around town, felt OK, but not really "real world", 1.6 was fairly punchy for a 1.6 though.

CLA is interesting, will have a dig. Want to have a look at this as well, https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/320d/listing/3545353213?bof=t8nrTqd7, its B47D20 according to VIN. Lots of the LCIs in the 2015/2016 bracket still seem to have N47s.

These are also on the list - https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/skoda/octavia/listing/3757007674?bof=t8nrTqd7 https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/skoda/octavia/listing/3771809985?bof=t8nrTqd7

  2. Looking at updating the company wheels, Ractis rattling like sh*t on the open road is doing my head (going to keep it though)...

Need a decent sized wagon that isnt snot boring to drive, is white, is good on gas around town and open road is livable. Needs to be reliable and cheapish to run 20-25kish max budget.. will have it for 4 or so years, so will likely see 200k on the odo in my ownership.

    Few things considering -

Subaru Levorg, probably 1.6  - Fuel economy isnt apparently as good as advertised and suspension is garbage (plus CVT might be a hand grenade, not many have much more than 100k on them)

Skoda Octavia Vrs (diesel or 2.0 petrol) - Seem pretty good but price is kinda steep for whats out there

F31 320d wagon (Msport so not a boat, 2013-2017ish) - How reliable are these? Timing chain issues on the PreLCI? They are comparatively cheap. What the diesels like on short trips?

  3. Anyone interested in our 330i M sport touring? Reshuffling the family fleet. Will list on trademe in next few weeks, unless someone wants to snipe it before hand.

Very rare 330i touring, UK import (no rust) was bought over by a family immigrating, kinda hard to price as there isnt many out there. 10k seems like a good point?

    • 170xxx km, will check.
    • Sparkling graphite, has cool pink/purple fleck in sun.
    • Automatic, shifts fine in sports and normal
    • Full beans N52B30AF with magnesium rocker cover and hydraulic power steering (for the purity)
    • Standard Msport bits, Dakota Leather interior (manual heated M sports seats which are way lower and have better movement range than the electrics)
    • Android CANBus integrated headunit
    • All works well, no errors or gremlins to worry about. Its a good solid well looked after car.
    • About the only downside is UK apparently didnt like xenon headlights, so its got standard halogens.
    • WBAVS32050AF81214

Its been looked after by me, so is mechanically pretty f**ken shweet :) Sump gasket/rocker gasket/all other gaskets/waterpump/CCV/engine mounts/shocks (Bilstein B6)/tophats etc etc etc etc have all been replaced in last 30,000km. Full set of new ATE rotors and pads in last 10,000km. Oil changed every 7000km. Wheels were refurbed last year. Will get full detail and clean up before sale, paints pretty good other than a stone chip or two and a bird sh*t etching on bonnet. Cleans up nice. Near new Nankang NS20s.

Latest pics I have, will post more if anyones interested.

    Ill add to the list;

Loud motorcycles with no mufflers being ridden at WOT around residential areas in the early hours of the morning.

    Please seriously maim yourself.

Heck, loud motorcycles at all, do they really think their mix of a long sloppy fart and a bad trombone sounds good?

    Farting armchairs added to list.

    • Ford rangers with all the middle age white man bedazzlements you can stick on
    • Anyone driving a modern "MG"
    • Farting Armchairs

You are not cool. Nobody thinks you are cool.

    That is all.

I'm looking to buy a new amp/receiver, my 13yo 100% awesome Onkyo now goes into power protection mode 😢- I can land an 8k Denon replacement from Australia, that's with AU$260 shipping, for NZ$500 less than I can get one in NZ. There is absolutely no logic that can justify that, with or without GST shenanigans.

My Onkyo did the same thing, I bought another Onkyo as fanboi ;)

  7. Yeah its appalling out there, numpty in the 323 was sitting in RH lane of SH1 (on the new autobahn..) going from braking hard when he saw lights in distance and freaking out, to driving off the road, to going well north of 160... then he tried lining me up for a race, which resulted in the bird.

Was thinking afterwards, is the problem our weetbix license system? A big chunk of my job is carrying out checks on UAV pilots, making sure they know the rules and can fly, and its my name and reputation in the industry (and with CAA) that goes on their certs. If I think they are plebs and are going to go out and be cocks afterwards, and I am not happy to have my name on their cert if something went sideways, I dont sign it. I dont think the same sort of system applies with cars? Are the people clipping tickets doing drivers tests directly accountable for whom they are signing off?

Other issue is obviously those who just simply dont have licenses, different problem to solve there..

Cool, will definitely keep that in mind. I actually have pretty much all the original parts sitting under the house still too 😅. Plus other new spares that i haven't even fitted yet!

Will see what happens in the next little while anyway. I need to go and test drive some of the possible replacements I have in mind, maybe that'll spur me into keeping it anyway 🤣

    +$50 ;)

Ive been trying to get a Simota intake, no one has any in stock, not even Simota factory answer me.

  9. Took it for a blat up to Kai Iwi, via every fun looking B road I could find on google maps.... trying to clock up the magic 300,000km... (and coincidentally have had the 130i for 7 years this week, I dont see myself ever selling it :D )

Big stupid grin, in between the pot holes. Tyres are absolutely epic, its absurd how quickly can take corners, and the whole thing feels balanced and cohesive at the limit, from the power to the gear ratios, to the grip levels. Dead keen to try it on a track, be curious to see how the Bird B1 setup works, some say its a bit soft for track work, but damn does it work on NZ roads/goattracks.
