I agree. But drive the M3. I've got the e90 M3 and drive a few diesels from time to time...(120d, 335d etc etc) Modern diesels are fast. BUT.... There is just *something* about catapulted down the road with 4 people in the car with you and that 8400rpm V8 soundtrack.

It's funny how you have to root the S2 to get anything useful out of it and to make it better that a jailbroken iPhone. Play with an iPhone that has been Jailbroken and then make your mind up. EOT.

That's awesome! The SGS2 and iPhone 4S have crazy arse cameras. No need for those little compact digital cameras anymore.
-
Yeah, you are completely right. The iPhone has no Bluetooth. WTF???? A lot of people say BMW conned me into buying an M3 when a HSV commodore is way cheaper and has a 6.2! I'm plainly just not very smart and get conned really really easily. Phew. Such is life. Or, is it that you don't know what you are talking about? Not sure.

No. You buy a phone with 64GB onboard and you are all good. Can you even get a 64GB memory card which works in your droid? Answer: NO. Most users don't want to piss about with a stupid little micro SD card which they will drop and lose at the beach. It's a feature that a few geeks like, but everyone else is already falling asleep.... As soon as I got my Samsung GS2, I got the biggest micro SD I could and I will never ever take it out of the phone again. My sister didn't even know what a micro SD was - she didn't even care. The 16GB onboard her SGS2 is enough.

I have several iOS devices - so it doesn't really apply to me. People really don't care that much. We always send apps to our clients via testflightapp or something similar so they can test on their own hardware anyway. WP7 is worth watching - but after trying several times to go a full week as my main phone, I can't. Too much stuff is missing appwise and the battery life on the HD7 is a bit crap. I think Nokia will help MS get some traction - but at the moment they are not growing. If you really want to be different, get a Nokia 6110.

Jailbreak. Job done. Then you will have quality build, quality user interface - and all of the above...
-
You could go on........ but it could get even more embarrassing...

It's pretty harmless, you can restore it back to factory at anytime. Just go to http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ and you should be able to work it out from there! You are looking for redsnow to do the jailbreak, and then install Cydia onto the phone so you can get all manner of things like dialers, themes, unix command line tools, apps, anything you want, it's there.

+1 In some forums I get labelled ifan, in others, droidboi, because I have at least 3 of each. I also have a WP7 phone, but that is still an infant at the moment. This whole apple vs google phone thing is like trying to compare a Honda Integra type R to a BMW 330i. Yes, the Integra is cheaper, lighter, faster and can be hotted up with a huge aftermarket array of add ons, chrome rocker covers, huge wings, fancy wheels, lowered. Wow. Impressive. The BMW is a bit tricky to modify, so some people label it as locked down. They prefer their Integra because they can mod the hell out of it. On paper, some would say the Integra is the way to go, but those who have actually driven both will very quickly tell you that the BMW is better. Too bad you can't mod it....but we all know that you CAN mod the BMW if you know what you are doing. The Integra drivers who look down their nose at the BMW because they believe the bullshit and say you can't mod it look like real clowns.... So, jailbreaking the iPhone and hacking the crap out of it is a pretty simple exercise, and you end up with a hot looking BMW which kicks the Integra into touch... I carry both the SGS2 and iphone4 everywhere I go and they are both bloody great devices...but the SGS2 doesn't have the same build quality or screen resolution/quality of the iphone4. It's my hot little Integra with a big plasticky wing on the back, and I still love it. But if anyone asked me for a high quality phone with a sensible user interface, the iPhone is still king of the hill. And after a quick 10 minute jailbreak, it can do everything the android can do too...

hahaha, yeah, that's why I put the smiley there... I love scaring the crap out of 4 passengers when they get into my unassuming "family car". Anyway, I had a 335i coupe for 3 years and modded that. When I got the M3 I thought I would get back into modding - but I can't find anything that I would do??? I have the HP model so its got the 19s, adjustable suspension and the 250kmh limit removed...(haven't found I needed that yet). All I have added is laser blockers, in-built radar detector and Mitchelin Pilot Super Sports... Bloody brilliant out of the box like M3_Power sez...

I've got an e90 M3 - does that count?

The only thing is the Mac Mini might have trouble with h264 videos and the like - CPU is too slow. If you use Plex, then the iMac will downsample the vids on the fly to a stream which the Mini can play. Good option...
-
BTW, it is called Screen Sharing on 10.5/6/7...
-
Remote desktop is supported is 10.5 onward - which is still supported on the PowerPC G5. Another option is to look into Plex and the entire system they have from a single machine out to iPads, Macs, Windows etc etc on the fly from one video file. http://www.plexapp.com/

I'm looking at the new M5 and usually don't mind paying a bit of a nz premium, but NZ$240k vs UK69k is just a bit of a big gap, like 120k depending on the rate on the day! I have found dealers in the UK who will sell it for UK69k. I'd be interested in what some NZ dealers or BMW NZ have to say to justify this? Let's remember that the UK price does include a dealer margin too, so it can't be that. And if there is an international warranty that BMW Germany reimburses everyone for, then it can't be margin for that either? It must be the fact they have to ship it to NZ and we don't do much volume...or something like that.

Yep, second that. Run from Vodafone as fast as possible. Their network is probably going to drop your calls and just be generally slow. And they don't even care. iPhone4+XT is a wicked combo. Go Telecom XT!!! (I'm a ex (very) long term Bellsouth/Vodafone customer. They are crap.)

Maybe Pete could help you with some better lyrics... Bahahahaha!

Didn't even know it was on.... I have to read the windscreen sticker to even know what brand the car is these day. The V8 Supercars administration have made a balls up of the whole series. Not even worth watching anymore... Lucky we have youtube to remind us of what proper touring cars look like (and sound like) around there:

We have been doing a lot of contract work for companies to get apps into the market and also use internally. We just finished an iOS/Android app for Bunnings in Australia which will feature on "The Renovators" TV show which is running there. Hopefully the show will make it here! Insanely busy!!! These global AppStores/Marketplaces rock... What are you working on? Or is it top secret?

Bit of background....One of my companies writes apps for iOS, Android and WP7 - we have devices everywhere!! iPhones, iPads, iPods, Android handsets, WP7 phones, Android Tablets, Macs, PCs......madness!!! To sum up: Android is great for geeks (and tight budgets). iPhone is great for non-geeks and the rich. WP7 is great for Microsoft lovers (and not much else). People buying those cheap-ass Android phones are not buying a good experience. In fact, with the work we have done, you a better off in the long run to stretch your budget as much as you can for a better device (don't drink beer for 2 weeks maybe..hehehe). You use them for a few years - so it is worth it. They do have their place - but if you just want to dial/text though - buy a cheap nokia. A slow/small screen Android device is just maddening. Samsung Galaxy/Nexus S is a wicked bit of kit - but the Galaxy S2 is a whole new level. I personally carry a Galaxy S2 and iPhone 4 these days. Our Mango experience (latest WP7 update) is that it brings WP7 up to about 1 year ago on Android or iOS. It does have some very nice features, tricks for demos and a cool contact centric UI - but overall it isn't a game changer. MS are down to less than 5% market share on the smartphone side. We are watching it closely - but nothing is going to change until Nokia ship some world-beating WP7 hardware next year...yes, unlikely...Microsoft lovers are holding out for a miracle - it might come, but for today Android and iOS are the only games in town - by a country 100 miles. On the tablet side, iPad2 is hands down the best of the crop - we have invested in Android tablets for development and they don't even come close to iPad. Regardless of your fanboy status - its hard to argue. iPad2 is the only game in town. Android tablets are clumsy and don't really flow - even with Android 3.2. Maybe Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) will change things....maybe... Anyway, thought I would share from the point of view of someone who lives/breathes all platforms every day...phew!

Go for a spin in the R35 Nissan GTR and you will be an instant [performance] V6TT convert. Done badly (Commerdoor, any Mitsubishi) they are shite. Done well (GTR, NSX) they are wild. A BMW performance V6 based on the design of the M5 V8TT (which it looks like they have patented) would be outstanding - no doubt.
-
Yeah, I have to agree on the f series speed. I'm hoping they go V6 because the V config is much better for reducing lag in turbo setups on these modern engines. The new M5 has no lag at all apparently, not like the laggy I6 in the 1M. So BMW will hopefully bring the R&D from the M5 V8 into a V6 in the M3. Here's hoping!
