How many NZ New E30 318is' are here on Bimmersport
liam02 replied to far4ngn's topic in General Discussion
Hard life- far from it. i used to own that car and all the previous owners I knew also. That is one pampered car, owned by enthusiasts and always maintained- two years ago I replaced the exhaust with a genuine one ex germany. I agree the addition of the rear spoiler is not in keeping with genuine IS spec ( NZ anyway ) Amazing how they hold their value -
I think this is the car I looked to buy at Jerry Claytons about 4 years ago. it was bought by a NZer in the UK who used it over there for 6 months before shipping it home. The speedo is in Km's. What gets me is that car was in absolute mint condition, with 50km's on it. It now looks like sh*t. What a waste. I have the original photos so will check the plate

which company did you get the tourag from? it looks nice
-
I spoke to a dealer the other day, who said they had a client who has a new M5 who buys carbon credits of a company in the uk to offset his emissions!
-
Why would you bother? John B is so right, how many M3's are for sale at the moment- heaps! NO Bargain.
-
This is your car! I just want a clean example, I want somone to say, "yeah there is this one next door to me its mint". Problem being in Wellington all are generally in Auckland, not a major but it makes it hard to go for a look.
-
Expense in repairing/ very expensive to buy new ( if you can source one ) and a major hassle. But, I am not interested in an e30 I am after an e36 ( nothing against e30's ).
-
Hi, thanks but I have seen all on trademe, I am after perhaps after what is currently not for sale. i.e but maybe tempted if an offer was made. Most available are high Km's Where did you get your M3 R90S?
-
I have had 3 e30's, i like the e36 because it is reasonably modern while the e30 is abit old hat plus the e30 hood is beyond replacing if it goes wrong
-
Well an e46 is too dear to have as a third car, I do alot of km's each day and in need my golf diesel as my daily, so the e36 is a cheaper alternative and looks great in M Spec. Therefore I want the last and best available of that model. I want low km's also.

As the previous topic started was on 328's, I want to know if anybody knows of any very late model 328 cabrio's floating around. I.e 1998 to 2000 with very low km's. Surely there a few hiding away in garages that are hardly driven, if you know of any I talking immaculate please let me know. ( PS if you could give me a number plate that would be great )And I have seen the 1998 avus blue on trademe. Thanks in Advance

5 Iron,is the car you are referring to an estoril blue one always sitting at coombes johnson tauranga?
-
I should hope so! Doug do you remember what happened to the purple M3 convertible that was sale for ages I think it was a 93 with something like 25Km on it. It was an Auckland car on trademe?
-
Well nearly $5k for a new clutch and dual mass flywheel is a fair wack! Say a blown engine might be abit more. An overhall of a smg gearbox might be more than that though ay Doug

The evo sedan ( byzanz ) is a very good buy, neither Lee the current owner nor I had any problems with it at. I owned it up to Dec 2006 and in the year i had it I put a new clutch in it so in other words the major expense has been done. It is well looked after and i purchased it from Cooke Howlison BMW who would not put a car of that age on their yard unless it was exceptional. Go with a car with a history and the QCar status of a sedan!
-
No the red car is not the one for sale at JCBMW a few years back, that car had leather for a start.
-
where did you buy it from?
-
Sorry, but i dont get it Why spend all that money doing up a lowly 318? Surely you would be better off chasing a nice 325 or even better 328. I know at some point you will want a bigger engine. Is is all about the bling and not the power these days. Each to their own.
-
I beleive used imports are usually bought USD/YEN
-
Team European in Wellington, $37 000 Silver coming soon
-
Yip all done by Shelly BMW at the time, I think it has something to do with the dual mass flywheel for the M3
-
That car was for sale for 42k 18months ago, it is a lovely car- fanatastic interior. Its getting cheaper and cheaper all the time. What about the dark blue with light grey leather, 1998 evo for sale at Pinnacle cars ( was on trademe up to last week ). it was a tourist delivery and it is manual, find out if it had any clutch issues tho, mine cost $5k to put a new one in.

I simply get bored and start looking at something else. I have got a new golf tdi 4motion as I use for alot of km's I do each week, but until say a 335d m sport touring came along at the right price there is nothing of interest. I bought the red touring as a project and as a car for my wife as she kept hitting the front of the schnitzer on driveways and kerbs etc!
-
From my understanding this was the only schnitzer touring to come in nz new by bmwnz. Based on a manual 328, i tried to get the 3.2 upgrade from schnitzer turning it into a real S3 3.2, but Schnitzer came back saying no due to homolgation requirements. I should never have sold it, foolish boy! You realise this after the fact.
-
Red one, silver sold the day I offered her the money. I used to have a schnitzer touring but i don't intend to replicate that, just want to get it back to standard and clean it up for my wife.
