Been in it full time for a year mate, but been overseas for a bit before coming back and actually putting things into place. A+ is bugger all imo, the real qualification is actually working with PC and gaining experience. Every day is different in IT lol. Down the track I'd like to become CCNP certified, thats the hardcore & ulotimate which can command huge coin. How many years is that? Heres my wee Eee... While I'm at it, here's the rest of my setup lol...

Thanks mate, have recieved your PM and have replied signing up also to the ecu forums. Not familiar with Linux as I'm more a Microsoft Engineer, Eee PC had Linux on it when I bought it but put XP Pro on it instead lol, much to everyone's dismay, just couldn't be bothered learning lol! Cheers Jochen & 318Touring I really appreciate this.

Willkommen Pics +2 please E36 M3's are superb!

Point of fact I'm A+ and work as an IT Engineer, mostly as diagnostics & system building Problem is I don't have access to the 9 pin converter plug which would feed into the obdii interface Your a bloody legend Jochen!

Hi again 318 Havn't had any problems since yesterday morning touch wood, however the oil thingo is still coming up about 5-10 mins after driving. I wonder if this is something that can be reset?
-
I wouldn't bother putting a device such as that into such a new car. If they're that good, then why isn't BMW as well as every other car manufacturer using that technology at the moment in their cars?
-
Wish I could answer that mate, but I can't. I do pick up all radio stations however crap the reception may be. Cheers.

I buy all my cars privately and save a huge amount of money

Forgot to add... Apparantley the AS sensors fail quite regularly... I got the guy to check to make sure I was reading the dipstick level correctly which I was
-
Haha! Cheers I think Have taken it to the stealers and it's booked in for next week. He said it's more than likely a AS sensor issue and an oil level sensor issue, two independent problems. This gives me the shits as the guy who owned it previously paid 4k to have computer issues fixed Will get these things fixed up and will move onto something different, I hardly keep cars more than three months lol. Pretty keen to get into an X5 like I've always wanted, just wanted the right one lol. Cheers

Ok. I've sorted the AS problem out. Read another forum and it said to wait till the car had been sitting overnight, then start the vehicle, turn the wheel to hard left for a second, turn off the vehicle (when I did this it moved the wheel a bit - must have been changing the gearing?) then restarted the car and whala! AS has returned, I forgot over that day how good AS actually is. UNFORTUNATLEY FFS! the engine oil sensor has returned 5km down the road! I'm just wondering if that sensor prompt is perhaps for the transmission levels and other levels (can't check the tranny level because there's no dipstick), have put 1 litre of mobil one into the car just to shut it up as it was a LITTLE below the level at cold & on flat ground. Will check the car again today before I go home from work and see where the engine oil level is there, but it's either a sensor problem or wtf? Havn't had the car two weeks and already it's starting to piss me off.

Or increase output/throughput? Jokes I got a weird sense of humour

ROFL You'd be lucky to scratch 300km?
-
Hahahahahahaha!!!!! Mate that sums it up totally. I think they put a 1.5 litre petrol engine in the MK1 Prius anyway, which with 800 tones of AA batteries makes it about as economical as a Falcon & as quick as a golf cart. Would be very interested to see the figures compared to the 120d BMW & VW seem to have it nailed with their diesel technology!
-
Haha, nah neither mate, I think they're 210kw from memory, but all the same, the 170kw 3.0d X5 ticks along very very well & I'd say they will have an awesome resale also. Friend of mine has one and gets 1000km to a tank!
-
Yeah he was only using one key and I read in the manual that the ignition somehow recharges the key which is why I actually used the other key which was still new lol. What that done though was reset everything back to Japanese on the i-drive ffs. Pretty sure now that I won't be able to pickup the tools and go wild myself or chuck it into the local garage. I just hate taking cars to the original "Stealers" & getting charged like fark! Do you have MsN mate? If you do, add me: [email protected]

Hybrid is a good concept, but I personally believe they've been way over marketed & left out the actual facts vs European diesel technology. Mates X5 3.0d achieves 1000km per tank of diesel which basically makes it cheaper to run than a Corolla and it's a rather large vehicle & twice the power of a Corolla also.
-
That Bentley looks like something a P dealer would drive. Those wheels imo look ratshit, the factory unit's on those GT's look the part. They've come down a hell of alot in price!
-
They're a good car & cheap to run being 4 cyclinder... Not sure if 19k is cheap though m8, how many km's has it done? Is it online? Do you have a link?
-
Yep DHE it starts with... EDIT: Remember going past that two wheeled back packers and laughing... There was actually quite a few people around though.

Check out this link - Good read! http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/23/bmw-520...in-gas-mileage/

Oh hell is this a problem with the e46? faulty e/windows
deeveus replied to keen's topic in Maintenance
My E36 had issues with the windows, were fixed a few times but they were never right even after repairs. I think the teeth in the drivers window had either been chipped or came right off making a hell of a noise. E36 2nd hand parts can't be too expensive now are they? -
Keen to get a service done and car has exhibited an "active steering" problem... Who in Dunedin am I to take it to, there's obviously Cookies BMW, but have been there before with an E30 and got absolutley owned with a price for a new distributor... Have used KG McLeod before for WRX's, Range Rover's but not too sure if he does the complexities of BMW with i-drive & active this & active that... I just hope it's just not active wallet lol Any heads up would be appreciated! Cheers.
-
Yeah, have seen that car before on TM and being kiwi new I think it's pretty fairly priced imo. Nice car!
-
Hey there! OBC meaning the Trip computer? I only came across this because I tried the other key the car came with and it reset the whole i-drive! I was then able to pick my way through and get that going. Can you provide a little more detail of what is actually wrong with it before I take it to the STEALERS? I never bought it from the bastards, so they'll charge me like a winded bull lol!!!
