    kind of random but if any of you decide to go to a korean supermarket (they're everywhere) get a box of instant coffee called "taster's choice" it comes in easy lil bags that u use each time, mix with hot water (not too much)

    i found that this is pretty good if you are ultimately lazy (like me)

    and also u can use this, melt the powder stuff with a lil bit of hot water and then add it to cold ice water with ice for a nice chilled drink :D

    Hi everyone,

    so after looking around for a e46/e39/e90 for a few months, i actually ended up picking up a very tidy 318ti 1996 just under 160,000kms..

    its nothing special but it will be my daily until i find a nice e46/e39/e90 that i like instead of settling for an average one.

    anyways.. its a japanese import that came in at 60k kms in 2005.

    outside is pretty straight, just a few dings here and there, interior is actually very very clean.

    now theres one problem with the car:

    sometimes when i start the car, the car will idle from 700 up and down and SOMETIMES turn off.

    now from the little bit of research i did online, it may be- ICV, camshaft sensor, some other sensor, vacuum hose broken, and some other things i didnt quite understand.

    the cars engine seems to be fine, no knocking noises or anything.. everything else seems good so far.

    i dont really see any problems yet but if anyone has experience with this model please let me know in this thread.

    i THINK this is the m42 engine not the m44?

    ^ thanks brent, i already went ahead with that route..

    turns out the guy just sources glass and appoints "fitters" to come round and do the job..

    the guys from instant windscreen and tinting came over and got the job done in about 1 hour..

    seems to be not bad... apparently from the $495+gst that i paid, $100 goes to the fitters and the rest to the glass guy

    avalanche melt is a surprisingly good blend, consistent too like apex mentioned^

    simon* - funny how you should mention that being a barista for 2 years made u extra picky! me too.. (6 years and counting) haha but over the years ive come to accept average coffee, especially from new places i havent tried.. if i need a proper cup, i will go to a place i trust. otherwise ill just take the bad coffee once, and not go back next time.. haha

    woke up sunday night to a broken windscreen while car was parked outside the apartment. seems like someone threw a bowl of cereal or sth and it ended up smashing the glass. with oats and milk splatter everywhere...

    anyways, i rang up a few places,

    smith and smith - $1050

    novus - $720

    AAA autoglass - $495

    does anyone have any experience with any of these companys or recommend a different one?

    and no i dont have insurance as its not my car... sigh

    i see nothing that is motorsport: bodykit, lights, interior, seats..

    the only thing that is motorsport-ish is the mags and the M badge which has the wrong 3 colors..

    as for AC mods.. i see a AC roundel, a AC badge on the front grill and boot, and the silver pedal covers which are all from trademe i assume..

    now it seems obvious that he has good taste and synergy.. as he has a AC roundel on the bonnet, a fake carbon look badge on the boot, and the big M badge on the wheels...

    no idea what the point of the 4th picture is tho..

    Starbucks Mocha Frappechino however you spell it. Really annoying having a Starbucks 2 minutes walk from wellington Weltec campus lol.

    i like the caramel machiatto from starbucks, and really all their frappe stuff is pretty decent.. cant handle a proper coffee from starbucks tho.. they have no idea how to steam milk and really dislike the coffee taste.

    not really a research "project", just a curiosity.. just keen to find out what people like to drink and whether a specific brand name is mentioned again and again

    Caffe L'affare or Karajoz

    Not sure which one I prefer at the moment.

    Either of their stronger whole bean packs seem to do the trick.

    caffe l'affare is a huuuuge coffee roasting company that probably roasts a tonne or more beans per week!

    taste is not bad at all considering its so large scale compared to the few boutique roasters around

    Allpress Rangitoto blend though a Moka pot on the stove. Served black.

    i do like this blend a lot! have you tried the ponsonby blend by allpress? i think its quite good too :)

    That stuff the cat-like creatures sh*t out.

    No I haven't had that, but in my real world it would have to be Melba Vulcan lane, whatever they use. Soy or regular flat white, or regular cappuccino with toasted croissant amande to take away.

    the cat poo coffee is called kopi luwak, or civet coffee

    i also havent had a chance to try it but i would definitely try it in the future!

    it costs about $50nz for a cup (dont know if its available here, i think it is somewhere in the south island maybe?)

    Just wondering if people have a specific brand and or blend of coffee they like..

    i am referring to espresso coffee not the supermarket mix with water and milk nescafe :)

    Nespresso counts tho!

    i like toasted espresso and lately a brand called millers

    go!

    Hi everyone.

    i recently sold my e36 coupe a while ago and now im thinking to buy a new car (borrowing friends car atm)

    im looking at the e46 models..

    i used to own a 1999 328ci about 3 years ago, it was a great car, the only thing i didnt like was it felt a bit heavy.

    my budget is probably upto about 15k (at most) but would prefer to spend a bit less, around 10k?

    have been looking at some 328ci's 330ci's 323/325i's and 330i's preferably motorsport.

    im not too fussy about sedan or coupe, but if it was sedan it would have to be facelift motorsport version, and coupe the prefacelift motorsport or not.

    Ive test driven some 330i sedan motorsports before and really enjoyed the ride, but its so difficult to find one at the price im looking for.

    whats everyones thoughts on the e46 choice?

    on a side note: i dont really mind e39 as well, there have been some really good ones pop up from time to time at good prices, would look at 530i motorsport if i had to pick.

    for the e39, i would go for a 530 or 540 motorsport hopefully 2002 but maybe 2001..

    for e60, probably get around 2005 530 non motorsport.

    i know the e39 would be a nicer car with motorsport extras but is the e60 a good car?

    price wise, e39 would be around $10-16k whereas the e60 might be $20-26k (roughly)

    is the e60 easy to get parts for and repair?

    My opinion that this car is worth $10k is not saying that the value of the car is that, but rather the price which i believe is a more reasonable one such that it will sell in todays market. To us bmw enthusiasts, nz new is important, but from a general persons view, from seeing so many other "similar cars" albeit being Japanese imports, higher kms, it just tends to bring down the market value of the better optioned cars on the market. the reason the better cars on trademe, priced at $15k+ are not selling is because its not a realistic market value. if you wish the sell the car, either wait for the right buyer or bring the price down for a quick sale. this is completely the sellers choice. the buyer would be lucky to purchase such a car at this price. this is the kind of deal everyone should be looking for, rather than opting for a 318 with m style body kits and badges/ac stickers as mentioned above :)

    i dont want to sound rude or anything but i think this car is worth $10 at best.

    considering the year, kms and (most importantly) the market.

    edit: $10K not $10.... :blink:

    you can keep the vinyl unpeeled and hold it over the area you want and heat gun it from like 30cm away on low heat to shape/mould the vinyl, then apply it while using soapy water so you can move it around and get the position correct then use a rubber thingy (dont know what its called) to push the water out from underneath. and it will help to have someone helping. many hands make light work!
