  1. hi, as above I need to source a starter motor for my m52b25 engine. need this fairly urgently. cheers
  2. Fairly sure any car with a MAF will idle erratically if you take the oil cap off, regardless if there's an issue with it?

Yeah 4 door auto high km's cloth seats is probably asking a bit much imo. Still, might get lucky if you're prepared to wait.
  4. I'm in Auckland, and can offer real heineken for the lids!
  5. Went today too. I want one. Doesn't even look real!
  6. I'm surprised the fair go line has ever worked for anybody. That line gets thrown at me from time to time in my job, and it has absolutely no impact because why would fair go give a sh*t? And who actually watches fair go and makes decisions from it anyway? Reminds me of this http://www.fat-pie.com/thechildthatsmeltfunny.htm "I think you'll find all the ingredients for a good complaint in that room over there!" I think the ombudsman is a much better way to go as the people on the phone you are speaking with know that even if you go to the ombudsman and don't win, they still have to pay them money. The rep's on the phone couldn't care less if you went to fair go. They don't get paid enough to care.
  7. So 6 weeks ago I was looking around bobistheoilguy forums and remembered how UOA (used oil analysis) is very popular in the states. After searching for a New Zealand company that offers this kind of service, I found none. So I went to the main company that is used over there (Blackstone Labs), and their site offers a free testing kit that is posted to you in the mail, and you send it back and pay $25USD to have your oil analysed. I figured I'd try request a kit and see if they'll send it here, and they did! So when I get my car back from the mechanic I'm going to take an oil sample, send it off and in another month or so I should get a report that looks something like this: Handy as it also tells you if there is coolant in the oil amongst other things. Would be good to get some comparisons with other M52 engines. Link if anybody is interested in a free kit http://www.blackstone-labs.com/free-test-kits.php
  8. Can't believe these went for $230.. I've been quoted less than that brand new from the dealer. Nice sale Ray.

    E36 Freshen up

May as well just get the BMW fluid, most dealerships sell it out of a tank for $50/l Which transmission is it? Never tried Redlines ATF but their shockproof oil that a mechanic put in my old Nissan's transmission made it sound awful.
  10. What they said. Don't waste money on AA. Spend the money you save on cleaning supplies! BMWorkshop won't muck you around and tell you rubbish like AA tend to. Loved it when AA tried to tell me my 300ZX was cam chain.
  11. http://www.carpartsdiscount.com/auto/parts...html?3593=70943 Not too bad if you look around. Think Luk is OEM brand or maybe OES. Fairly sure they do the OEM flywheel for the M3.
  12. Sold now anyway, they told me that the flywheel I already had in my car mysteriously broke when they removed the transmission and that the one provided didnt match up. Oh well! Sold now anyway and I'll probably be ordering a brand new one cause I can't be bothered with it all anymore. Spent way to many hours trying to source all this crap >_<
  13. Why E30 316? I agree with E30 but at least get a 318 or 320!
  14. http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E36/ Shows BOGE as the brand when you look up the part number on pelicanparts. Make sure you take the car to be inspected at a BMW workshop or a dealership as AA tends to have trouble knowing the quirks with euros...
  15. Jerry Clayton tried to fit it, but found that the flywheel's teeth didnt match up to the starter motor? The part number they gave me that I need is a 228mm flywheel while the one I have on trademe is 240mm.\ And my 323 is a 1997 (manufacture date Sept 1996) and has a Getrag 250.
  16. Hey, Second hand but with life left. Doesn't fit my car unfortunately as the flywheel is the wrong size. $1 reserve http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=390190569 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=390191312
  17. Need the complete thing unfortunately. Not sure that would fit anyway, my engine is M52 and as far as I'm aware only the 323 and 523 fit. Thanks though!
  18. The one I'm going to has been around for about 13 years I think. And they have plenty of photos on their facebook page @ http://www.facebook.com/pages/Final-Touch/ lots of lambo's and other high price cars. I'll post before and after photos when I've been and tell you how it goes. I think the grabone deal would be fine for what it is, it's just a standard clean not a restoration. 1 hours not a bad thing if they have 4 people working on your car the whole time (doubt it) but I wouldn't ever go back to carfe personally.
  19. Hey, Semi-urgently need a flywheel for my 323i Manual E36. Only place I can find has one for $100 in below average condition. Any leads anybody?
  20. This thing is pretty ridiculous. But it's not just the diesel engine that makes the power... it has 276hp worth of electric power too! I'll also be there, going on the 17th.
  21. Check out this site http://www.finaltouch.co.nz/Default.aspx?T...96&LangID=0 I'm going there in a couple of weeks, they seem a lot more professional and knowledgeable than places like Car-fe (who let the lady who makes coffee have a go with an orbital buffer on half of my old car and burnt through the paint) Otherwise, check out this link http://www.grabone.co.nz/refer/322647 and click on Car Wash and Detail. $75 clean for $37 is pretty good!
  22. It's pretty easy to do yourself and just pay for the oil & filter. You can reset the service indicator yourself with nothing but a paperclip http://www.bimmerdiy.com/diy/e36oilchange/ http://www.bmwe36blog.com/2007/02/24/reset...-service-light/ If you do it yourself, you can choose your own oil. Most places seem to use Castrol Magnatec 10W30 or 10W40 which isn't the correct grade for your car, and I've found it tends to look a lot dirtier after it's depleted. You have the same car as me and should be using a 5W40 grade oil. Something like Mobil 1 if you can find it or Mobil Super Syn will do fine and you can get it from Super Cheap / Partmaster, though you will need to buy 2x 4L containers. Since the engine takes about 6.9 litres of oil, you can use a litre to rinse through after emptying the old junk and keep the rest in case you need a top up. For $400 they should be using OEM BMW Oil, changing your transmission fluid & diff oil, give you a loan car and shine your shoes!
  23. I have an Alpine 9887 which can go to BMW orange colour. The iPod input cable plugs into the back so you could easily hide it if you wanted.
  24. The number printed on the transmission in my car is: 220.0.0225.94 which searches tell me Getrag 225 Theres one on trademe at the moment which has the number 220.0.0225.97 which is a Getrag 250. If I buy the 250, what other parts would I need for it to fit? And does anybody have a 225?
  25. as above, would prefer lower mileage, must be in good condition with no mechanical issue
