Yes, I've got an expired piston from the Budweiser Rail from the late 80's. It ran 6.099 seconds and 221mph then. 500 cubic inch Top Fuel beast. The smell and vibrations from the thing were phenomenal. They make F1 cars look like a Prius. Power in excess of 3500 horsepower. The engines last 2 runs (if they reach it) and then get a complete rebuild. It makes the 40 hours between rebuilds on the Super tourer motors seem reasonable, doesn't it. Kiwi535 is spot on. Go and see the real cars run. Even better at a twilight meet after a hot day. Flames and fast times.

Yes, there are plenty of those. Mine has all the M5 running gear hooked up to the V8. But it's not an M5 (even though it's rarer).

Haha, so I've heard. It'll be a company car though. Anyone work for a lease company? I'm guessing it would come out between $1200 and $1300 per month on a fully maintained 3 yr, 100,000km lease. If so, even at $300 per month more than the Territory. It works out cost neutral.

Ultimately, if it's not an E30 M3 (easy to spot) or at a stretch an E30 320iS. It's not an M car. It may have some "motorsport kit" items. But it's not an M car.

Welcome. Nice car. Can't help with the tow-bar.

I have currently got a VW Passat Variant 125kW TDi DSG for a test-drive, as I may look at replacing the Territory with this. It seems quite nice, pulls like a school boy and is economical. I have to hand it back early tomorrow, so I might have to do a dawn drive out to Maraitai/Clevedon on my way back to Conti's to see how it handles. The drive in rush-hour down Remuera rd doesn't really show how it corners. As I've never owned a Diesel, is there anything I need to consider? Feel free to comment!!!

No, I'll watch the "Taxi racing" like Ollie, on my couch. Looking forward to it though.

I personally think Honda's are awesome. And I own one. Anyone who can design the RA166E (used in the MP4/4) 1.5l turbo developing over 1000hp in race trim. Winning 15 of 16 races. And Ayrton Senna drove them!

Well, as long as Telecom feel the need to follow Qualcomm down the CDMA path and pay them royalties. Then the crap range of cellphones that Telecom offer will continue. http://www.powerware.com/New_Zealand/default.asp http://www.rakon.com/ I've had a bit to deal with both ends of the scale.

I thought that was the one they used in the BP add for fuel.

Obviously a West Coaster!

Bummer, but who threw up on your carpet?

Ditto. Hopefully you'll get it certed now.

Didn't know they made one. I thought all the Diesels were 6 cylinders now anyway.

Too true. Your first line in that response outlines why you can have more for less with Windows. "Price" is what you pay, "Value" is what you get.

But he has an M42 Turbo already. So if he swapped it from one car to another.... In theory, there shouldn't be a problem getting into the Open Class as the 2002 had a cylinder turbo fitted. Although, it's still down to the committee. Whi I'm sure would be happy to see you out there.

I would expect that the aerial for the GPS is in that great ugly box behind the Mirror. Therefore, the warning may be shown there. No idea, just chucking them out there.

Navigation? Does it take an SD card? Otherwise, I'd guess a SIM card for your phone.

I'm with Jochen on this, Band expanders are crap. The guts of it is, that in NZ our FM frequencies run from 87MHz-108MHz (21MHz band) and the Japanese radio is from 76MHz-90MHz (14MHz band). So, it takes the 21MHz spread and shifts (and worse, compresses 21MHz into 14MHz) down the spectrum. This is why you can end up with a number of stations appearing in the same frequency when a band expander (should be called a compressor) is installed. For reference, every 3dB of power lost is power halved. i.e. a dropped from 88dB to 85dB, easier to liken it to a Richter scale. So a 10dB loss is massive in reality.

Imagine how much more space you'd have on your desk with an Apple!

BMW NZ used to send the cars to Lifestyle Motorsport (or was it the other way round) to have the aftermarket parts fitted to them. They did Schnitzer, Racing Dynamics, etc. Your car may only have a set of skirts and mags. Who knows. If you go to BMW and ask for your build-sheet, you will have an answer.
-
The BMW Motorsport International would have me believe that Lyall (and Conrod) were the people that fiddled with it before it went out of Motorsport Lifestyle (on the Strand) as they did the work for BMW.

540, especially for the price difference.

The 2nd link has orange indicators. Why would you do that? M cars should have clears. I'd go with the 95 for preference. The Boston Green.

Where is the best place to go to get a BMW serviced?

Outside of Christchurch BMW, there is DCH Motorsport or Graeme Clyde, who is working with Brian at Impworks.
