The 630i is the one to own, even with the faults it has. Could be a nice car if you got it cheap enough. The active steering is scary when it goes, mine had an intermittent fault with that and would randomly set the angle of the steering wheel.
Turners wouldnt touch my 650i, they knew the V8 was that trash 🤣

One popped up on Fairway Drive a couple of months ago, I've seen two going in on Oxford Tce and Cambridge Tce this week. I hate having to slow to 15km/h when there isn't anyone near the crossing.
They're planning that shite for a major intersection on SH2 northbound towards Upper Hutt. A "Raised safety platform" they call it, on the main road. Add to that, dropping it from 100kph to 60kph through the intersection. They have the same style intersection just up the road, but without the platforms and its 80kph, and its fine, so why not just replicate that?

Thats lovely. I feel like the price is about right for a non-turbo B10? Its basically just a flashy auto 535i with some engine mods after all, so the market would be quite niche

Someone is going to buy that and press it into service and find out why low km cars that have been sitting around for decades arent a good idea. The tires alone have a date code of 5206 on them, which makes them almost 20 years old. That should be illegal to wof/sell.

Ah yes, Michael Grant Motors... i thought it was that car too 🤣 Looks like its gone from TM, so maybe they finally gave up?

that whole interior is lush AF, so much better than black. Would hoon.

If the tank is real rusty, the best idea is to get it cleaned out and coated. I believe radiator shops can do this, pay to have a ring around.
Have a look into the tank and see how bad it is, if its not that bad you might get away with something like Evaporust.

Doesnt look like a lot of wet oil there to make a puddle. Have you looked under it and checked its not something like the oil pan gaskets?

Any one of these can can be short shitfted at 3500 -4000 rpm and deal to the majority of the listed so far. And BMW finally have sorted braking performance with these models.
Sure, they would waste most of the list, but are they really "drivers cars" when it's electronic gizmos doing all the work? Give me an analogue car anyday.

Selection of items from the Rockauto site. So much - massively - cheaper than anywhere in NZ.
Until shipping is added. Note to self: Rockauto source from multiple locations and shipping is paid on each location.
Now checking if MyUS will change the situation from my perspective.
Yeah always check which warehouse it's shipped from. If you get everything from the same warehouse it shouldn't be too bad (although post COVID shipping has been more expensive anyway)

if it plugs in, it pays reduced RUC. If it doesnt plug in and is a normal hybrid, only pay fuel tax.

They're both a nice drive. Your $6k discount is directly attributable to Dieselgate!
Who hasn't had a good scandal tbh. If you were worried about the ethics of your car, you wouldn't have a car.

The 630i I found has a N52 engine. Not impervious to issues but much better. It also has an early iDrive which can be an issue - I need to do more reading/learning around that.
Very nice-looking car, and originally designed for the sort of use I'd need. Whether it'd continue to be good at that over a longer period is also something I don't know.If you can, try to find one that has as few gimmicks as possible. Active steering, active headlights and dynamic drive are the three i would try to avoid if possible, due to unreliability. Otherwise it should be a pretty solid, albeit big, car.

Dont even get me started on Supercats. They shouldnt be legally able to be sold as tyres. Barely ok in the dry, but downright dangerous in the wet. Had two or three cars come on them now and all have been like driving on marbles in the wet.

Not to mention the tiptronic gate on the shifter too
Gorgeous looking car and awesome conversion. I bet the colour combo with the leather looks great

The logic of factory wheel bolts failing a cert escapes me. I believe the cert system is good for the most part, but that seems a bit stupid.

When everything works, they do make really good open road/long distance cruisers though. Very comfortable and I imagine they would be super stable on the Autobahn.

IMO the N62 is a dog of an engine, with many well known, although serious, issues that they all seem to suffer eventually. Sure, you can fix them all one by one, but by that point you have spent thousands on just the engine, and havent even begun to work on the issues the E63/64 platform has. I'd take an E46, or even an E90, over another of those horrible land whales any day.
Theres a reason you are finding them in your budget...

My impression was that the person giving them away was hoping they went to someone that wanted parts for their car, not for some wanker to try and make a buck. Chucking it on trademe isnt "putting in the effort".

Doesnt matter what the market is doing, if the owner is happy to take a certain price 🤷♂️ (unless its over priced, but the seller will figure that out in time and also doesnt need someone harping on about it being over priced...)

I see its back due to the buyers finance falling through (bet that'll happen a lot now too).

Already has some knob in the comments saying its worth more and to remove the $30k buy now. I dont know why people do that, if the seller is happy with $30k, let them do what they want.
