  1. I bought a xmas present for my wife late Nov. DHL carried it from the states, handed it to Aus post (but why?), who according to tracking have had it sitting in NZ since xmas day, and its gone nowhere since.

I emailed Aus post about it, they basically said "its an untracked service and too bad if its missing lol, ask for a refund from the seller". How did I know where it is? The tracking details. WTF.

Have seen the wreckage of a single car where there were multiple deaths a number of years ago. It was a ‘few’ days after the accident. It was in a storage facility and still had the obvious signs of the carnage to all occupants. Buying something like this to scavenge parts off - no thank you.
    every wreck has a story I suppose…

I believe Turners doesnt deal in serious injury or fatal cars. Most of them go straight to the big shredder, although some of the stories my mate that used to work at a wreckers has told me about the bad ones.... ugh

. As a comparison we had a honda fit for a number of years and did w.e trips with the 2 older kids and that was fine.

A Fit/Jazz isnt a very good comparison, they're a tardis and have very good interior space for their size.

  4. Lol yeah you'd have to bank on a different engine, you KNOW its at turners for a reason and its probably to do with the N46.

Turners is the dumping ground for cars you cant sell anywhere else. Its also clever, because i believe being sold at auction like it is means its not subject to certain CGA clauses.

Basically it gets to a point where it’s bad enough to require swap out with either a manual box or OEM German auto transmission.

Have had two jerkco automatic e36s and both had issues , one at 80,000 (318i )and one at 120,000 (328i) The first one had a rebuild ($3k 20 years back ) and problem came back at 110k , second one made it to beyond 240,000 km with slight 1-2 jerk and gentle acceleration used most f it’s life.

Best option for these transmissions is a 40 tonne catiplier bulldozer or a molten furnace.

Yup. Agree completely, utter trash of a transmission.

Mine did about 80,000km and the jerk got to the point where it would lurch at takeoff too, which made getting across intersections interesting. When it got to that point I manual converted the car and didnt look back.

Found this on Moneyhub while looking up insurance comparisons.

    "low risk nature"?

I don't recall becoming a bad driver or driving like a moron after switching to a European car 🙄

    • "Our guide to the cheapest cars to insure lists models which predominantly are compact in size, have small engines and are Japanese-made. The value of these cars (and the low risk nature of their drivers) makes them more attractive to insurers and therefore cheaper to insure."

their cheapest car to insure, the Toyota Aqua, is also one of the most stolen, and easiest stolen cars in NZ. They also have an old Caldina GT Turbo on there.

not at all.  Aramex completed the same totally useless service on my most recent parts order; a week in-country, UPS declare it's delayed, then it shows up without any update to tracking.  Useless.  You're just lucky it would seem.

Ditto, but not surprising as we're both in Wellington and serviced by the same useless depot

10/60 was on sale at repco, so was good timing for an oil change on the m3. And after ten years of ownership have only just figured out I don’t need to get under the car to do them! Bmw think of everything.
also noticed the oil cap seal is cooked, so ordered a flash e46 m3 one to smarten up under the bonnet.

Okay, Pressing the start button on my n46 e90 without pressing the brakes.  Just left it like that. Notices that I heard the throttle body adjusting. Also hear a lot of other noises from the engine and after sometime it all stop no more noise. Is that normal?

    Yes
