^ Yeah I think that may have happened, obviously when I sprayed it I knew it was already f**ked. No harm done, just another thing to add to the growing list of things to do.

Planaten Grun is obviously my new favourite color I saw another e30 here in Wellington this week in the same color, also there is a e28 in essentially the same color 5 houses away from me. Like my old Calypso Red car, I like it because it is a rare e30 color.

Two Sets of Wheels, Alignment Question
Forrest replied to Forrest's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
^ With the car being so low, need to avoid rubbing, rear guards have been rolled so it shouldn't be a problem. They were the optimum size recommended by Jono -
Woah thats incredible

- Sorry to disappoint everyone awaiting photos of the Borbet's on a E30, have a set aside for me, waiting on some tyres to be sent down so will be on my car on Monday - Seat has been quoted so will be fixed next week. - Spent the day taking the seats out, replacing the parcel tray, vacuuming the carpet (full of dog hair and 5c pieces ), picking various interior pieces up over the weekend so interior should be complete bar some small speakers and the motorsport seat by Sunday - Rust is going to be started tomorrow - Then it's onto subtle exterior mods, suspension and brake swap from the red car and it will be done done done - Can anyone recommend a good place to get fire extinguishers? My supercheap Schedule A one hasn't been used and the gauge says it's low, so not going to risk it and will buy a decent one but from where?

At the end of the day the car is worth 4 grand and I am not throwing a whole lot of money into it. The rust is not that bad I just want something inhibit it and stop working, not worried about having to to do it again once a year (only the boot seal is bad enuf to fix), thanks everyone for their input so far, anyone used any off the shelf stuff from repco?
-

Wow my new favourite project on here, aside from mine of course Good luck, plenty of pics and details as always for future e36/46 transplanters like myself.

^ It is only just surface rust so I guess it can be sanded right back to bare metal, when you say neutraliser what exactly are we talking about? Cheers, Nathan

Yayayayayayayayayayayayayay Thanks Johno

Got some surface rust in the usual places in the e30, under boot seal, spare wheel etc etc Have previously used Wattyl Kill Rust, while it did what it said to any primer + top coat I used on top would react to it and go all orange peely. Anyone got a good off the shelf paint on rust killer that will do the trick and doesn't seem to react? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Nathan

- Fitted Z3 Shifter tonight, how important are those little yellow/white plastic washers that go on either side of the shifter when circliped to the shifter rod? I had to take them out to get the circlip on properly :S - Found a DIY for backlight bulbs for my OBC here: http://forums.eurocca.net/showthread.php?t=16507 so once that is sorted the center piece of my dash can go back in the car. - Starting rust repair Friday :S my 6 years younger e30 had worse rust than this one so I am very happy. - Seat is going to the upholsterers to get a quote to be recovered in vinyl tomorrow. - Got permission to buy Borbet Type A's, so am awaiting on a set to arrive in Wellington and they will be my new road wheels Have a tentative date of mid August to have this finished and ready for the Intermarques, looking pretty likely if am able to source parts relatively quickly.

Two Sets of Wheels, Alignment Question
Forrest replied to Forrest's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Wheels will be the same offset, and will hopefully semi slicks are 205's and hopefully the road tyres will be 205's or 215's -
So I am on the verge of buying some 15 x 8 road wheels for my e30, I will also be regularly using some 15 x 7 wheels on race tyres for track days. It will just get a basic wheel alignment on the road wheels obviously, is swapping between two varying widths of wheels going to muck up the wheel alignment? Cheers, Nathan
