I installed that exact shifter kit in my e30 track car about 2 weeks ago, fits well save the 50 bucks and do it urself. Takes a little fiddling around, i am no mechanic, especially taking the old plastic ball cup bushing out, (just use a screwdriver and chip away at it) and I found the plastic bushings that go in the shifter needed to be sanded down a bit to make them fit inside the shifter and on the outside so it fits on the shifter arm but other than that it fits great and is a vast improvement, defintely worth the 85$ If you have any trouble there is a article on how to fit a kit basically the same as this on pelicanparts.com, just search install short shift kit or pm me Hope that helps Nathan

I found WD40 works really good, just spray on leave for a min or so then scrape or pick it off, takes a while but it softens it up quite alot

Now that Im fully into restoring my e30, I wondered if anyone knew/had recommendations of what spark plugs and leads to use, nearly 200k later thought might make a bit of a improvement, its a 1.6 m40 if that helps. Just want to freshen the motor up a tad. Is there anything else anyone recommends I should do in regards to the engine + drivetrain i.e gearbox fluid while Im at it? Cheers, Nathan

Hey do you have any passenger front guards for a e30 in calypso red? Cheers, Nathan

Haha I love it. Not sure weather I can justify doing the bonnet though. Anyone know any people that would do a base coat and a shot of clear for cheap in wellington? If I pre primered it etc?
-
Those wheels look sick im pretty much sold. Did u mask and respray the silver or just mask it out and do the black? What about the bonnet? do I do it or is it too ricer?
-
Need everyones opinion, on e30 tech saw heaps of panda e30s (white with black wheels, bonnet, shadowlined etc etc. Thought I would be different and go 'red panda' lol, I have some stainless steel flares that I want to gloss black, ive shadowlined and blacked kidneys, should I go smoked tails, front and side indicators as well? mabe even gloss the bonnet black? I have some bottlecaps that I thought I could either gloss black and clearcoat or make them look like this: and gloss black the centres with a chrome polished lip? dont flame me im a poor uni student trying to make the most of what hes got. Constructive input is appreciated Cheers

Anyone got any front or side indicators or facelift e30 tail lights that are smoked? PM me

Okay so I had a trawl on google and came accros what people do to blend in touch up paint from a little bottle, so I masked and hit the area that lost the paint in fine mist coats, will then go back and wet and dry with 2000 then a light coat of clear coat and apparently that makes it look alot more 'flowed' worth a go at the end of the day my car is worth virtually nothing and miles wel try and learn something as I go along.
-
Thanks man for the advice, il post some pics up when its done for a conclusion
-
Not alot, im a bit of a perfectionist, thing i dont like about touch up paint is that it never has a smooth finish after. Maybe I should give that a go and see how bad it turns out

Have just shadowlined my car, masking tape pulled some of the paint off and have a few places where paint is starting to flake off. My car is metallic burgandy (calypso red) I am a poor student so I can't afford to respray entire panels, if I mask and spray can the patches that need fixing, obviously the paint will be really glossy and slightly faded in other parts, has anyone had any experience at polishing the paint to blend it together? Im sure there is a better way to explain this but sure everyone gets the jist of it. What is the most appropriate course of action? Any help would be appreciated Thanks in advance Nathan

Sounds good man, dont have to much experience re: m3 conversion, but a e30 project is an e30 project so mean haha. I speak for myself and many others there is nothing people on this board dont know how to fix on the ol' e30. Just be careful though, you may think it will consume just weekends..but it consumes your life haha. My uni marks are going down the drain as we speak haha but good luck, keep us posted on how it evolves. Nathan
