Its always good to have little frights like these everyonce and a while, just sharpens you up. The usual, going way to fast around a roundabout in the rain is my personal favourite, or forgetting to brake earlier when coming up to roundabouts in the rain. Always happens at roundabouts...lucky I dont have a LSD or id be having even more trouble haha

Yes first gear is terribly short, I dont think I will ever go faster than a 197 in a e30 LOL

On a side note, what is the best ratio diff to put in a e30 for track work/daily driving?? Surely anything better than a 4.27:1

Sorry here are some pics, mainly cocked it up cos i managed to strip two important bolts then got frustrated and made it worse lol... So I need another one of these..if all diffs have universal versions of this part.... I want parts and advice, I need to know whether all e30's have the same number of teeth on the spline so i can find one thats got the same teeth (this one has 27 i think) and has 6 bolt holes (i dont know if there are different versions of this piece) thats all. The flange has the numbers 499 and 37 printed inside if that helps Im pretty sure mine is a small case diff, it has four bolts on the diff So if anyone wants to sell me a good condition part of what I have below and is preferably in Wellington I will be happy. Sorry if this is a confusing as post, im a bit of a noob when it comes to diff's The only other alternative is to replace the diff to a better ratio if anyone has one (in welly that they want to get rid of) PM me Cheers

Attempting the above today ^ Also have ordered nolathanes all round with offset front control arm bushings Need to order new spring pads and a diff mount donut and thats all set.. Degreasing and wire brushing the disc rear end today in preparation to put it back in the car Slowly slowly coming together

My car has a 4.27:1 diff, I stripped two bolts (on one side) trying to disconnect the driveshafts off, grinded the bolts off, then semi damaged the driveshaft flange and realised some of the teeth on the spline are chipped anyway so better replace it haha. I will take a picture of the exact part I need tonight, but was wondering if most e30's have the same teeth pattern on the spline? My diff is 4 bolt on the diff to the driveshaft flange and has 6 bolts where the driveshaft flange meets the shaft.. Hope that makes sense, will put some pics up later, just thought would ask while Im thinking about it. Any help is appreciated

probly wont see much of a change considering the nz $ is at its lowest trading point in 5 years at under 53c...so kinda cancels the effect out sadly

sickkkkkkkkkk.cant seem to download the old house mix u posted, any suggestions as to why? comes up with downlaod here, link appears to download then goes back to original download starter screen. Only thing I can think of is the popup blocker but im no pc expert

what kind of wire did u use for that? just bog standard? just spliced the iginion wire yeah?

got them off!! two sets of grazed knuckles but it was worth it

Yeap have removed the springs, shocks and disconnected the driveshafts, will have a go at the fuel hoses first. Thanks for your help

Update: Started the fun job of taking the drum rear end out for the disc rear end swap. Have disconected the brake and handbrake lines, just havn a b*tch of a job undoing the trailing arm bolts, barely have any room for a socket..thought a long arm bar with a socket and a cresent spanner may work..anyone have any recommendations? Also wire brushed the new exhaust to be repainted, then will take to pit stop to get it welded to my m40 exhaust flange. Repainting the A pillar today since its a sunny day and a final coat of primer on my 'repaired' bootlid b4 i can repaint it. Also doing the above to my now rust free battery tray. Regarding the above post I will just keep the standard belts for the moment, would prefer to see behind the car when reversing lol. Also does anyone know where I could pick up battery cable/appropriate gauge wire, for me to wire up the battery kill switch. Progress is going real slow of late. getting frustrated. Andy, let me know what the status is of the bilsteins otherwise ill just try find another set.. Till next time, Nathan
