  1. thats why you need to buy an rhd e32 and swap everything over, not rip it to bits but a proffesional job,you would have a rhd alpina!!!!
  2. sometimes its just the switches(wishful thinking on my part?)
  3. its the only option martyn, either turn it into a rhd by transpanting the goodies into a rhd or as you say as a collectors car leave it as is.I havent got the money to just have a car sitting in the garage. And a seven aint for fangin round a race track, and there is no way those wheels will fit on a three series.Alpina is THE bmw tuner,if you guys dont know who alpina is I would be very carefull around any alpina e 34 5 series, even if you have an m3 or an m5,cos there is one particular alpina 5 that will blow your doors off.(think about an m30 with two turbos )
  4. umm how about a engine transplant and those wheeeeellllllsssss. He is surely gonna lose heaps on that deal,,sell not going,oh man.
  5. yea happy birthday to our most enthusuastic bimmersporter!!!!!!
  6. i got it of a forum member of another board I go to,but amazon have it.I havent had to buy anything but oil filters etc,so cant really answer that...SD european seem to be able to get everything ussually cheaper than the dealer. Not sure what parts you want to get from repco youd have to check what they can do.....
  7. it says that the current bid of 30,000 is within 15 percent of the reserve,so the reserve is around 34,500.Wonder what "average interior" means.
  8. yes you can have it for 15000 and the rest of the car for free......
  9. i havent really had real experience but i think the m30 is pretty straightforward, its just a bit different in some areas, and being a sohc a wee bit more difficult than the old push rod sixes. If you are serious invest in a bentley manual,i have one that brent has used, you can borrow it as long as you photocopy the relevant pages BEFORE those hands get greasy......any recon auto = $$$$$$ Brent hartge 535 changed the whole top end over. They are very durable engines.Idle problem more often than not are related to idle control valves, vacumn leaks, leaking injectors or bad o2 sensors if you have em.200 k is nothing for the big six.The cam can be a problem, something to do with the banjo bolts retaining an oil line.
  10. since when has 175 ks been high ks....sheesh my 535 is not even run in yet at 177,000km,or is it miles????
  11. my trip computer works fine but at one time i had the all the panels out round the drivers side of the dash.On the rhs down by the steerng column is a "speaker grill",and behind that is the chime.when i had that unplugged my dash display didnt work, there are two plugs one will kill the chime but one obviuosly mucks up the circuit. The other thing is the PO may have had the display programmed to show nothing. You can choose which obc functions you want displayed......
  12. hey arros what was the price range for e34s when you were looking???
  13. a cheap one wont necesarily mean a headache but it will depend on how much you are willing to do yourself, mechanically they arent that special, but it does pay to have someone who knows what they are doing with them ,to fall back on if something does go wrong.Because they are a little bit different your non euro mechanic might be stumped, but the normal maintenance is mostly straightforward. If they are looked after apparently 300 000 miles is no problem(but you are probably lookin at two sets of front suspension parts, two radiators, two water pumps etc.........)

    Ages

sheesh.........you lot are ....young.I make up approx 2% of the sample and i didnt make an invalid vote like the only other 2 percent sample
  15. I dont know if i completely off the mark but if i could get 15k it would make the trasnsiition to Cains car easier.Without seeming over the top its a pretty special car. I looked a long long time before brent put me onto this one....Before replying you need to know that i am pretty firm on the price and that it IS a pretty rare E 34.I need to do a bit of research and also talk turkey with Cain.....in the meantime check out more about it hereNote..the engine withe red valve cover is NOT mine
  16. yes cain i agree very simple....good price to a GOOD home

  18. 7 30 wasnt it??/I am sure i have seen that db9 clip before.....I reckon the mix is just right..some of the staged races are a bit over the top....apache vs lotus????wtf?
  19. if you are lucky you will find one like this.. a nz new 535is known by bmw nz as HD12's they are solid solid cars mechanically and will last for ages.BUT if you want them to last they must be serviced! So the most important thing is to get some idea of service history. and make sure all the electrics work. When i was looking for mine i found this websiteand this websitehelpful, even tho they are american and canadian respectively..Brent has more experience than me but i will give you what ever help i can.ALL the 535 i looked at had the same spec, one uk import and two nz new, dont buy the first one you see AND get it checked by someone who knows what they are lookin at.BMW dealers have a set check, quite thorough, listing parts and part prices in my case, and they are quite critical, sometimes a bit to critical.prices ......dont know when i was lookin they ranged from 6000 to 20,000 I bought the 20 000 one....it was 10x nicer than the 6000 one, didnt pay 20 tho!.
  20. of course the dealer will sell em but they can be VERY expensive(i was quoted 750 plus gst each for a 17x8 style 10........otherwise a site like this, the bmw cc website or trademe
  21. i am with you martyn, upgrade?,now THIS is upgrade and Dish....
  22. the metric wheels are only different in the tyre sizes.I dont know why but normal e 34 535 came with 15 or 16 inch wheels(mostly 15, 17s were an option)but the sports came with the metric wheels and tyres, and i tell ya those are some of the biggest tyres i have seen.....From wot i have heard the price of metric tyres makes it cheaper to get 4 wheels and normal tyres than four new metrics.......hence the majority of e 34 sports you will see running 17's . going back to offsets, the e 34 runs a 20 mm offset which is the same as most 6,7,s 8,s. i think. There sometimes a slight difference in the hub diameter,ie the e 34 has a 71.5 mm hub hile the e 39 has a 74.1,even tho the stud pattern(5x120) and offset (20mm) are the same. The definition of offset is the distance the hub face is from the centreline of the wheel.......
  23. e 36 ti wheel offset chart, let the buyer beware ,it says......
