    Camo Cops

It ain't about being caught - I've never had a speeding ticket - others, but not speeding Its about getting the cheeky bastards back for all their sneakiness, deception. dishonesty, and for inflicting pain and injustice on the general populace eg: the good samartian who was charged with assault lately, the woman who was ticketed for speeding but had the charges dropped as the cop was lying, and the farmer who shot a thief and is now on trial in the Kaikohe District Court. Need I go on. Do I have a chip on my shoulder - hell yes!

    Camo Cops

has anyone heard about this new law that is supposed to forbid cops from hiding in bushes and on top of overpasses with radrs/speed cameras? Is it for real, and what are the details of the changes as i would like to get out my handy digital camera and bust some of these cheeky coppies!
  5. Now I'm really confused - see my what makes a feacelift a facelift - aren't pre facelift models aupposed to have chrome bumpers, or does this not apply to the M cars?
  6. Are they pre or post facelift?
  7. Hi, I know that the bumpers were changed to plastic and colour coded later on, and that some of the newer facelift models came with discs all around plus the option of ABS, but what else is different on a facelift model? Cheers
  8. I think it is Scott Durnley behind BP?? He is supposed to be good. Scott Woodall at Pitstop is aldo good, but specialises in mercedes although he is selling the business, so it will remain to be seen if it stays that way. Re: Big driveway - half are work vehicles in town, only 7 including mine at home. Bit of a thread hijack methinks. Maybe a General Topic thread RE: good mechanics should be started?
  9. Usually only if you also give details of who what when where why etc, or if this is implied due to the context of the conversation you are having i.e. "You know that job I got fired from? ... Yeah, I got paid out XXX" Not - "Once I had a grievance and won and got paid out" although in certain circumstances..... you could be in the sh*t. My ex won a PG for a similar amount - she deserved to get it however, and the lawyer stole about half. In NZ the employment law is biased against employers who fire staff. Missing a day of work once is not usually grounds for instant dismissal although it would depend on the job. Eg it is a different story if you were a doctor in an emergency dept. or a paid firefighter or ambulance officer. You should come out the other end OK esp. if you can give a good reason why you were unable to call them to let them know you couldn't make it.
  10. nath - I get Ron Kelly to do all my work. (He is behind master trade down the driveway to ITM next to the Kericlub.) He does all my dads cars (8 or 9 in total) and my two. He has been good to us so far, and as we also have a social relationship with him outside of work, he tends to give us what I find is a pretty competitive price. I don't know how his work compares to anyone else except that I am happy with what he has done so far. He is not a BMW specialist, but used to own an E30 himself. He doesn't always work on my car himself (i.e. staff member), but they seem to be good also. Who is in Waipapa? I live up Pungaere Rd, so that is about as close as you can get. Cheers - car booked in tomorrow for tappets, so will let you know how it turns out. Car went fine to Aucks and back plus about 200km back and forth between Manukau, Titirangi and town a couple of times. Noise no worse.

    Cracked Dash

I have heard that they can be "welded" back together. I have a 1 1/2" crack on my dash which I inetend on getting fixed. Will let you know if I come across someone who does it at a reasonable price.

    My new E30

I'd be keen to find out what colour it is as I have the same. I think mine might be Royalblau Mettallic but as yours is an '86 I don't know. See this chart Also, if you want to get rid of those bottle caps when you replace your wheels give me a yell.

Still looking?? Rolling Chassis engine unknown condition
  15. Thanks Andrew - will keep that in mind. Have been to see my mechanic who agrees that they are noisy and will need adjusting. He is not concerned about them causing a problem on my trip this weekend so I have booked it in for next week. Fingers crossed?!

    Speedo broken

Great!!! Now you can drive your vehicle as much as you want without addding k's to it!! But seriously, you will need to pull the instrument panel out and have a look if it is something there. It is an electronic panel, so if you are getting a speed reading, the signal is probably getting to the panel, so it is likely to be a prob in there. There is a thread in the FAQ section called SI Board that will tell you how to remove the panel. Good luck
  17. Don't forget to tell your insurance company - mine gives a 5% discount if I have a fire extinguisher installed. Also, I am in the process of negotiating with a workmate in the local fire brigade. he reckons he can get me one at the fire brigade price of about $20 odd. I will find out the details and let you know if they can supply to bimmersport aswell for those of us further north.
  18. Hi, Just found this thread - found out how to do this the hard way in the weekend - ie figured it out myself. Didn't break anything so SUCCESS!!! Found out that yep, am missing the LED's. Where did you get yours from andrew?
  19. Hi, apart from the probable performance losses, what damage is leaving them be causing? I am planning on taking the car for a long drive (a thousand km or so) this weekend. Don't want to end up stuck miles from home with a dead car for obvious reasons. Don't like spending money on cars unless it is mods, but I am of the school of thought that "a stitch in time...." so will fix them if it means saving expensive repairs later on. BMWorkshop quoted $100 incl. to adjust them as long as there isn't cam wear. at 97000 kms I would hope cam wear is not severe. The previous owner of this car was a bit of a dumbass I think. The coolant was the colour and consistency of swamp sludge and the thermostat was pretty much rusted out, the air filter was probably the same one it left the factory with, but the oil was the colour of honey and the car had been serviced (ie oil change) every six months. No idea!
  20. Thanks, will go see my mechanic after work today. Dammit, just came out of the shop for new cambelt and cooling flush. Had to drive my poxy ute! Looks like another day in the "Datto".
  21. Has anyone had any success with a flushing product to cure this, or should I be straight down to my mechanic? The car had a very slight tick when I bought it recently, but the noise has gotten more noticeable over the last few days.
  22. Thanks Andrew may look into that too.
  23. Thanks, did some ringing around myself and found a place in west Auckland that sells them for $56 incl. GST. 0800 STRUTS Cheers anyway.
