  1. Are you sure - 325i Sport (c.3,700 made) had the 191hp engine by my understanding. Happy to be proved wrong.
  2. 318i Turbo - your post suggests the Sport had a straight box - it should have a dog leg box. The latter is a good way (not fool-proof, however) of determining that an E30 is a Sport (or an M3). Beware, a dog leg box could have been fitted to any 325i, post production. This topic repeats itself again. Here goes: Sports = only about 3,700 produced. 99% were two door - I know of a single four door (and oddly enough, automatic) version. MTech II kit, dog-leg 5spd CR-box, LSD, recaros, special steering wheel, full-OBC, 200bhp as a modified motor. Motorsports = either factory (most prized) or aftermarket (less prized) kit fitted to standard 170bhp 325i. Either MTech I or II kit, straight 5spd box, LSD was optional, as was computer, etc, etc, etc. i.e. you just purchased your 325i and "bolted on" what the budget would allow. Many people consider that they have "Sports" when, in fact, they have Motorsports. 325iS is not a Sport - the latter being (or should be) designated M325i Sport. I think the 325iS is an American incarnation, the terminology now being (incorrectly in some cases) being used world-wide. There are some good books out there on this (and other topics). Well worth a read.
  3. Sport had 5-spd dog box, LSD, 200bhp, Mtech II kit, recaros, .... ... much, much different from a Motorsport - unless you are trying to sell a Motorsport.
  4. I found the most improvement I got in my M3 was to dump my 83kg girlfriend and get me a 45kg flyhoney! Knocked at least a second off my 0-60.
  5. Yes. 1988 E30 M3 Evo I (Evo II specs - i.e. 240bhp). Not for sale, never, ever!
  6. They should still recline if they are sports seats (as sports were also two door). I recovered a set - cost me $900 (cash deal) to do it right. If you don't want the seats, I'll take them for $80 a piece.
  7. How can they be four door motorsport seats - motorsports were 2 door only. Must be recliners, or not genuine?
  8. Especially if it is a Sport, but at $4,000 I'm not holding out much hope for you, sorry ;-)
  9. If you could all get M badges done and stick them all over your cars, that would be fantastic.
  10. If you're lucky, and it is a Sport, you will need to get a dog-leg box to return it to original.
  11. Get the VIN number and do your homework! Or answer the following questions in the affirmative: 1. it has a 5-speed dog-leg (1st is down) gear box 2. it has Recaro (sports) front seats 3. it is two door 4. it has a limited slip differential I think, however, from memory that Sports were 88 (i.e facelift) onwards, but I could be wrong!
  12. I love the chick driving the card GR8ANL!
  13. M3 badges make your car go SO much faster. After spending $125 a piece for my M3 badges, I swear I was faster off the mark. I thought it must have been the car, but then realised that my wallet was SO much lighter it was a power to weight thing. I'd really recommend putting M3 badges on any BMW. Great return for investment. In the same vein, I'm thinking of selling my LSD and dog-leg 5 speed box from the M3. Going to replace them with a regular diff and 5 speed box. Any takers?
  14. start at USD600 if you can find them.1. if you want air temp: inside -shut the windows and doors; outside - open a window and shove your hand out 2. if you care about fuel consumption - don't drive a BMW (and in any event, never go below an 1/8th of a tank 3. are concerned about time, you're driving too slow!
  15. And who wants a cabby anyway? E30s look better with roofs. If you want a cabby - get a Porsche! (in my opinion).
  16. A useless waste of money. Far better removed and replaced with a SPA Oil Pressure / Water Temperature digital gauge.
  17. Paid up, but didn't go as airfares from WLG too expensive. I feel for the guy whose E46 M3 sh1t itself!
  18. www.roadfly.com and then to the BMW E30 M3 for sale section. If you have the ability to travel from state to state. I'll be in NY / FL / CA at the latest in October, perhaps even earlier - i.e. August.J
  19. As above. Reasonably priced (as, if I ain't on the road now, you've got a long time to wait, or you've got plenty of money to turn it into a track car). Must be LHD. Don't care if it is registered and warranted (or able to be) as it will not be used on the road in NZ. Must be genuine.
  20. I'm trying to think of the four cars you've seen - but I assume the 325i Sport, the 2002 tii, the Wagon and the M3? Unless you've seen the first of them all, the 1983 520i!!!!! Stop hanging around GAC! Admited, all the cars are mint and if I could have (i.e. when I marry my, as yet, undiscovered sugar-mommy) garaged them all, I'd have kept them. Would especially love the 325i Sport back! WAGON's wagon at 10k is possibly a steal (he says, sight unseen) knowing the South Island market for wagons. If there is trouble selling it in the far north, I'd send some photos to Graeme Clyde at GAC with the details and tell him its for sale. I also found, when selling my 2002tii that a website (with lots of photos and info) was a great medium. You are partially right, the second sentence of my previous post was a little cheeky, but in a light hearted way. As far as BMWs go, I'm rather a purist and the 17s + stereo made me smile (he says knowing the "stereo" factor in his M3). CiLK - once I have the money, and you have title, you're free to do with my (your) wagon as you please. Put a turbo in it for all I care! I certainly wouldn't feel violated. Now, if you rear-ended the M3, that would be a different story as I'd have to go home, get my gun, ......
  21. I wish you well in selling your car. Thanks for your thoughts on my price and you may be right that it is a "wee bit high" considering that my wagon has neither 17s nor a "stereo" although it does have a cd player and four speakers. As I suggestion, E30 wagons go for good money in Christchurch, you may wish to advertise your car for sale down there as at $10k it will sell quickly. More quickly than mine as I still want c.$14k.
  22. If you've bitten the bullet and taken a ticket do the following (it slows the cop from getting back on the road and saves others): 1. check the cop car as if you are conducting a warrant of fitness check (asking questions along the way); 2. write down registration and wof details; 3. ask for the make, model and serial number of any electronic equipment which the police officer used to check your speed; 4. obtain the police officer's full name, rank, number, station from which he/she operates; 5. get the police officers to sign as correct the details that you have taken down; and 6. repeat 4 and 5 for additional officers, finishing with a smile and a good day to you sir / madam. Remember, always be pleasant!
  23. Front end (of the car) might need a wax!
  24. Evens to 100kmph, who knows from there?
