And the trees in the background are Noctura Valencia Flora - native only to Southern California .... not to mention the brick work!

.... refraining from comment ....

My E30 M3 is in CHC - but if you see it being driven around - it has probably been stolen. If it is constantly bunny-hopping and stalling, it has not been stolen - it is just my mother's lack of understanding of a dog-leg box!
-
On dealer plates ... dob 'em in to the LTSA and get the car chopped in half I say!
-
And that YOU could afford to replace if necessary ;-)
-
Would you race my M3 for pink slips?
-
Or buy the one for sale in Rangiora for $20k and wait two years. That is only $14k a year - seems a better deal. "In storage for six years" could mean "The car was parked up for six years whilst I was doing time for stealing it"! J
-
First thing = fire extinguisher mounted on the floor in front of the driver's seat. Second thing = drive it for six months before doing anything - save your pennies for when things go wrong. Then worry about mods.

There is only ONE factory RHD E30 M3 in the world, and it is in New Zealand. $35k for a road legal E30 M3 isn't too bad - although it is US spec. You would want to be THOROUGH with your inspection before purchase, however. Good luck, all E30 M3 shoppers need it! J

M3 E30sCheapest I've seen is $20k (LHD), but can't put it on the road until 2007. However, for a "drive away" car, I know of the following (all RHD): M3 (200hp) - only ever factory RHD - c.$105k (up in AKL) M3 convertible (200hp) - $45k on Trade Me (dealer) Evo I (200hp) - won't entertain prices less than $55k Evo II (220hp) - ditto Evo III (240hp) - deal being struck around $75k Evo III (240hp) - CAD65k (sold into the USA) At the moment, it is a seller's market as you CAN'T import and road legal an E30 M3 until 2007 at the earliest (2010 for Evo IIIs). All versions are far cheaper in the UK, although salt / rust problems potentially and remain LHD. Know of two crap M3s floating around CHC - would get personalised plates for them "CAVEAT" and "EMPTOR"!
-
have both - the M3 still sits in the garage, the 325i Sport (2.8 ltr / 220hp) does not. go figure.

For $10k - anything Japanese and reliable. The Isuzu for me was a godsend as never failed me - just sold it for $7k to a friend (she got a great deal given the stereo equipment in it, plus the topline Dynatron alarm, turbo timer, etc). But have run out of garage space, so the car needs to go. Rats! But for $10k .... Isuzu MU, VW Golf of some description, Fiat Bambina ....

Possible cost involved with forced induction
Juzzie Wuzzie replied to m325i's topic in General Discussion
2002tii conversion (reconditioning and boring out to around 2.1 litres) was around 6,000 plus custom exhaust and a few other bits and pieces. Sold for 16,000. 325i - building the 2.8 cost around the same, possibly a little more. Sold for 17,000. 320i wagon (with 2.7 already in it) cost around 13,000 from memory. Not cheap to do - but a lot of fun - have only owned one BMW that didn't have a worked engine (1989 520i). The M3 has been worked, I think putting out close to 240 horses. Should dyno it one day. Ironically, was viewing the January 2004 NZ Classic Car magazine this morning at VINZ (warranting the Isuzu) and both cars were in it for sale at the same time. The '02 by me and the 325i by the guy who bought if from me. Perhaps a record to have two cars you own(ed) for sale at the same time in the same magazine? -
house? putting money aside for a rainy day? plenty of things other than a car you could spend it on!
-
agreed! do it once, do it right (exhausts that is)!
-
what you should do first is create an excel spreadsheet that tells you the actual cost of spending $10k borrowed money on modifying your car. work on variables like principal of $10k, interest rate of 4%, 5 year repayment period, and return on investment $0k. seriously, don't drop $10k into your car - better ways to spend it I would suggest? sorry to be a realist!

Have had three custom exhausts made in CHC (2002 / 325 Sport / M3) and they were all superb. Ask Graeme Clyde GAC where to go. From memory, two of mine were done at the place near Lancaster Park (JADE Stadium) and the third (M3) hand-crafted in Graeme's workshop. All were in the region of NZD1,000 as custom made and tuned. BTW - what is this with the importance of the "sound" it makes - WGAF? As long as performance increases. It's like a woman in bed .... I don't care what she's saying as long as she's performing ....

... or looking for the fool that was born yesterday!

It is NOT me if anyone is wondering! $65k is a lot - Evo IIIs are selling in the UK for 15-16k squid as a benchmark. Ok, so you can't bring it in for a while, but when you do ...... And to think, I could have had an Evo III at my door for $50k .... unfortunately the person behind me in line had more money! Wasn't aware that Snitzer got into the E30 M3 modification side of things.

Hmmn, I wonder why Japanese cars give the most "bang for the buck"! Enjoy driving your BMW for what it is - not because you want to "kain" [sic] people at the lights. If that is what you are after, save your money and pile it into something light, quick and Japanese. Or, a Caterham 7!I own (arguably) one of the fastest production E30s made and I still get taken at the lights by a number of Japanese cars (WRXs are the bane of my life). It is something I sleep easy with though - why - because I own a piece of history, not a piece of recycled tuna can. Again, enjoy your BMW for what it is. Don't go piling money into it that you will never recoup as it will make upgrading in the future all the more harder. Remember .... when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

no - Juzzie just remembers the basics of ECON 101!
-
yes - as long as its not a BMW - don't suit being convertibles in my opinion. given your budget, I'd stick with a hard-top!
-
That is a nice car my friend. Good to see it has a fire extinguished. I'd get some fronts in it asap - even if just cheapos for now - well worth it. What is that thing above the ashtray?

or more money than the people in front of you!
