Anyone tried D1 Racing slotted rotors?
SRBMW replied to volcanoblack's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Hi Guys I am the person behind D1Racing New Zealand so I'll clear up any comments below Okay so lets say you buy two TRW rotors from repco $96 each plus $35 a rotor =$262 basically the same price as I'm offering, Yes how else are you going to do it?You cant cast slots into a disc face this is what DBA street series are.Only race discs have different heat treatment and metals Good call,China has some of the lowest labour costs in the world hence why Fisher and Paykel have moved there along with cadbury. They are willing to produce products for the rest of the world unlike the states which make it hard for foreigners to do business.Agreed alot of parts that do come out of china are badly made but my suppliers of brake rotors have had alot of success with their products. I've said glenn I'm more than happy to send you a pair of rotors out for you to try and let me know your thoughts on. What do you mean by copy?all my rotors are machined here on a CNC mill by an expert machinist, when you buy a DBA disc you are paying for the brand name, distribution, marketing and a nice box unless your a Metallurgist and can prove otherwise I'd appreciate you not making those comments about my products. As for the white boxes,if you have received a rotor in a white box this mean you have bought directly from an importer/distributor.These discs are purposely importe in plain boxes as they are bought by all the dealerships to fit to their customers cars they are also sold to the large chains to brand themselves. For those of you who like rotors in red boxes please tell me which one is which out of these rotors there is a zimmerman brembo chinese and a TRW. -
cheers I just realised that and came to edit how do you change the title? i'll have a talk to my friend and see what he says, cheers

-

Hey guys I'm going to offer all bimmersport members special pricing on my new range of D1 racing slotted rotors. These rotors are CNC slotted and provide upgraded braking performance especially when combined with performance pads.I will be offering these at a later date.Currently offer a semi metallic european road pad. Will upload sample photo soon Prices are per pair. I will have these available in the next few weeks. We can basically do any bmw rotor in a slotted version. E30 vented fronts 260mm $200 pair E36/46 286mm $230 pair Can do rears and slotted solid rotors for the 316's 318's. If you are interested please let me know. [email protected] cheers Darren

Essentially this is correct but the hard part is setting up the pinion depth, backlash ,bearing preload etc, which an experienced diff specialist can do and will save wear on parts. Sorry these are second hand units but are all in good condition from the states. BMW lsd's are factory 2way lsd's with 45degree ramp angles.Tony has a few tricks that he does and with the standard amount of clutch discs makes them lock up a hell of a lot better.I always recommend the use of red line diff oil.Tony can also machine the housing and fit more clutches to increase lockup. This addition will dramatically change the handling of your car especially on track days and nobody likes the guy who does one wheel burnouts. If you diff was leaking probably a good time to get side seals. email me at [email protected] for those people interested.

My guy in the States has medium case clutch pack LSD centes that he can send me for $530 this is a very good price considering our dollar is so crap at the moment. This is the bare lsd centre without ring and pinion. You can have this fitted to your diff for around 150-200 by Tony at Steelie gears. These lsd's will fit e28 e30 e34 e36 medium case diffs. Darren

I think your calipers would hold them on. Alot of cars don't have locator bolts .Some do Its just to take the stress on the base of the wheelstuds as sometimes the vibration causes damage
-
Also a dot punch is a good way to get the locator bolt moving and impact driver, but yes crc penentrate is good stuff
-
These are standard replacement rotors so will bolt on,cheers
-
pics added sorry mate bilstein make shocks

Hey Dean I'm pretty sure you've asked me about the e21 lsd on trademe.I have a contact in the states who I get all my diffs from but with the dollar as bad as it is they are getting even more expensive. You might be able to use the ring and pinion from the small case diff but the actual centre seems different. The cadting around the speedo trigger- we looked at this as it was going to work out slightly cheaper.I have tony out at steelie gears do my ring and pinion swaps.Have you looked at fitting the larger e28 medium case diff? Darren

gotta be happy with that !! did you look specifically for that one or did you just happen to land with that one? This motor is the early crown middle sump so would be nice to see what the later engines could produce
-
280hp is impressive N/A that's what the motors are quoted as having at the engine isn't it?Yea I'll try suss some pics soon for you guys, cheers
-
If you have a look a couple pages back you will see in the second pic the type i'm talking bout.An enclosed aftermarket pod type filter has plastic/carbon looking surround,a friend had one on a wrx and wouldn't allow the car to flow enough air and was holding it around at 180hp.They just don't have enough surface area,Had a similar problem with that 1uzfett with some simota filters they couldn't flow more than 70hp!! gotta spend the money on a K&N
-
Nice conversion mate,In my experience those enclosed airfilters can only flow approx 180hp so maybe try fitting a mesh type pod with more surface area, worth a try Darren
-
Made a lazy 456hp at the wheels on only 9psi not too bad for a factory motor
-
Haven't got it on the dyno yet so not totally sure but will let you guys know. Will be a handful as you can only fit an 8" wheel on it in the rear cos of the chassis rails. Yea after the fitting the ca18det and then the sr20det to my car, a 1uzfett in the e30 would have been around the same price but would have made it quite nose heavy.
