Very nice. Wish mine looked that good. Cant wait to see it on some new wheels

On nissans and toyotas the clutch hose piece bolts to the outside of the gearbox and when you push your foot on the clutch it pushes a pieces against the clutch fork which is attached to the gearbox and not directly to the hose. If you unbolt the hose piece from the gearbox you obviously loose the use of the clutch but you dont loose any fluid. Whether BMWs are the same Im not sure.If you want a hand Im happy to come help. Have no experience with BMW engines beyond changing the oil but like I said Ive done Toyota and Datsun ones.

Id be surprised if they dont have different mounts given its a 4 vs a 6 but I have no experience on it. If youve still got both cars there you should be able to swap over enough to get it to work though. Thats all a guess based on other cars though, ive never pulled an E30 engine out. Closest I can find on the Torx bolts according the the haynes manual which lists the ft-lb torque to be Not sure where each size bolt is used but Id suggest you have the ability to deal with all threeDraining clutch fluid is easy enough. Just do it the same way youd bleed the clutch except dont put any more fluid in the top. With the motors ive changed over I havnt even bothered draining it. Just disconnect it from where it meets the gearbox and leave it hanging in the car. Though havnt tried an E30 so this may not be possible (has worked on Nissans and Toyotas ive tried)

Ive got a tow bar on my 86 M325i. I cant remember the exact tow weights for an E30 but theyre somewhere around 500kg unbraked 1100kg braked I think. The entry level towbar I could have got was a 1200kg one. I got the uprated 1500kg one as was planning (and have) towed a car trailer with it. Havnt had any problems with it, though I havnt done anything like the kinda distances and hills youve got mentioned. Though it seems youve already answered your question so disregard this post

I had heard its been taken down. I havnt tried as I got it originally Though I now have the complete 91 and 92 races on 9 dvds. Damn cool

My E30 has 14" basketweaves on it but unfortunately Im missing two centre caps. Anyone know where I can get some? Havnt checked with BMW yet but guess if they have them theyll be stupidely dear

I really like that. Still prefer the mZ3 coupe given its one of my favourite ever cars but thats easily the best looking current BMW IMO

Mine came from Autopassion in Christchurch. Doubt youll do much better than $79 for a brand new momo one

I cant talk about an Autotechnica E30 one but I know my Autotechnica civic one was pretty rough. It was cast really badly so I had to file parts of it to even get it to fit at all and it was always tempermental getting the horn to work and occassionally itd make scraping noises. (Yes it was the correct one) In the end I gave up on it and got a momo one and didnt look back Maybe I just had a bad experience with it but I wouldnt be trying another one

No plans for a shortshifter, Im happy enough with the gearbox the way it is. The MTECH steering wheel is currently sitting on my couch but itll soon be stored away to be kept to be put back on at a later date

Quick update. Got front drivers seat retrimmed using material from spare back seat as mine was totally stuffed It had the centre top and bottom as well as outside bolsters redone. Only original parts are back, left side bolsters and headrest. Only way you can tell is it now has stripes of stiching running through the bottom piece due to the way the material was compared to the flat piece on the passengers side. Top part matches so Im happy with it. Also put my 320mm Momo race on from my old car

I just put my 320mm Momo race on my car. Its the same wheel I had on my CRX, just bought a new boss kit. Every car needs a decent steering wheel, the Motorsport wheel isnt bad, but these are much better. I paid $79 for a brand new Momo one. From past experience with other cars I wouldnt get an Autotechnica or sportline or anything, the momo ones are just so much better quality and fit properly and cost about the same anyway p.s. my history of boss kits is 2x Momo EG civic 1x Momo EF civic 1x sportline EG civic 1x Autotechnica EG civic 2x random brang unknown car boss kits 1x Momo E30

Probably cause all the plastic parts etc look exactly the same shade, in the story theres an explanation but Im too skeptical. Plus it looks exactly like these Sorry for the size of some of the pics, just a quick google search

Registration expired less than two years ago. all youll have to do is pay the reg back to when it expired so thatll cost $400ish. Wont need revinned aslong as its done within the next couple of months
-
Itll get simple stuff but one project car is enough for now. This might see some more money once the Datsun is on the road but for now Im happy just keeping it running

GAC is on Opawa Road (12A I think). When your heading from the town side its on the right hand side just before the lights across the road from Opawa Motors. I was there on Friday for the first time and the guy seemed really onto it, never had any work done there though Haing never had a BMW cambelt done before that seems really cheap

Well Im sure its been repainted and Ive been told its Diamond Schwartz. The rest of it Ive been told too but who knows (certainly not me anyway) I paid $6500 for it. The paint looks good in photos but in person its quite badly stonechipped, otherwise good and shiny though Other things wrong with it are cracked indicators (now replaced) cracked foglights (now glued up until I decide whether its worth replacing them properly), drivers seat worn (bought another back seat and will retrim it) The reason I sold my CRX is Im doing up a Datsun 160J. I need a car with a back seat and that I can tow with cause currently it looks like this

Sold the Del Sol. Its gone to a chick in Ashburton. Got marginally more for it than I paid for this, but by the time I get this sorted itll cost me more For anyone who dont know this is what I used to have
-
According to the guy I was talking to on Friday its Diamond Schwartz which apparently is a facelift colour?Confirms the AA report that said it had been repainted. Was originally black anyway so the engine bay etc match. Been painted along time as its now pretty stone chipped but otherwise it dont look like its been repainted so it was a good job

Following on from the other thread, time to put it in the right place 1986 M325i Motorsport Bought new in Palmerston North and at some stage during the 90s made its way down here. I bought it 26 July. Was talking to a BMW wrecker/garage on friday and he knew the car, apparently it used to have the proper 15" wheels on it last time he saw it  Jacked it up today and it does have an LSD too :bounce:
