  1. Perhaps a system to improve the service to customers, make trademe more money, and help lazy car dealers would be to register the VIN number when listing and have a feed to LTSA that replies back to trademe when the car changes registration or is first registered, this action would auto delete the listing.

  2. Hmm i might start asking if they can please please please find me one ASAP as I have the money to buy a car this week!! So after they have rung round all their dealer buddies and find one get it to the yard and ring me back ill have to give them the bad news that ive just bough one from <insert car yard opposite them>....

  3. Very frustrating ringing up about car dealers ads on TradeMe. They keep listings up months after the cars has sold trying to get calls out of the old listing rather than doing the decent thing and take the listing down!!

All manor of excuses and BS when you waste your time calling... oh its all trademes fault, car just sold then two weeks later call again, car just sold... etc etc. Any one else noticed this?

    Top of the list:

    Buy Right Cars

    Auto Z Cars

  4. I rang about the car, spoke to BM workshop. Besain vanos kit with rattle kits. New bearing shells, crank oval but within tolerance according to crank machine shop not worth touching. New thermostat, New coils. And service.

Could be good for an enthusiast who can fix up al the little things that would cost too much at the dealer.

  5. The revenue is billions but the question that is never asked is where will the money be spent.

If it was like user pays for road tolls for example to build better roads I'd expect some benefit from yet another tax from the importing arena.

Or will it all go into the government slush fund for an extra MPs pay rise and air NZ flights for the rest of parliamentarians lives??

  6. The only transmission I've every cried over was a Nissan Primeval CVT rental car. What a pile of doo doo... mushy whaley kenwood mixer. Defying the Natural law of physics that rental cars rev higher, longer and go fast than others.....

While I was hooning on the open road overtaking a car, me on the wrong side of the road, jandal in carpet, V2 rotating, pulling 120+ with an oncoming car ahead, the revs start dropping off!!! (equalizing the torque band?) the car was still accelerating (bearly) but I was for sure certain that I was going to die in a head on collision.

I said a potty word and threw out all four anchors.

I lived to tell the tale.

  7. Perhaps some one can enlighten me. Often wondered how a DCT would be like to hoon around in, like if you were sitting on the side of a road and wanted to show off and do a power slide U turn. Needs a bit of clutch balance to break traction and do a nice sideways power slide up off the road.

Or doing a gym khana on the skid pan at Hampton, slide the car around a cone and hook reverse into a cone garage, then forwards off, so fast gear changes and slipping clutch a bit for presise angels to get set up for the next cone.

Ya know what I mean ? I imagine DCT would be a bit naff for that?

  8. I think a manual would be more fun to pedal, I've driven three DCT M3s, very cool. DCT you can sloop around town in auto, and for a race application you can't beat banging through the gears, it is a bit faster (not by much). like you say never miss a gear or crunch one, can cant over rev downchange so that's a plus.

You need to drive both and decide. But the box will take as much of a hiding as the manual from all accounts.
