  1. Tell them to look here ref number C12241.
  2. I got dizzy from looking at it ...
  3. Have you searched BMW's website? Check this out hmmmm, nice Although this one won't qualify for BMW Premium Selection (too old), I bet this is a NZ new example which beats imported one any day. FSH anyone? Gosh, good value for money! Good luck!
  4. First of all sorry if I'm asking stupid questions. Been wanting to try changing the two belts on my E36. Used the internet to find information on how to do it but what shown is different to the one I have. Main questions are: 1. AC belt, how do I get the tension off? See attachment 1. This picture is taken looking down to the engine space. Is the big bolt the correct bolt to take the tension off? Is CLOCKWISE the correct direction? 2. The main belt. See attachment 2. Which one is the correct bolt to use? The one circled in red or grey? Again is CLOCKWISE the correct direction? I'm using this website Cooling system and the one from pelicanparts.com as reference.
  5. I have no idea. I hadn't had to pay for service for awhile :-) So wasn't paying any attention. Must ask Vicki or Jeff next time. The improvement is immediate and noticeable though.
  6. Correct. That 525 will not be likely equipped with Active Steering hence the 'ordinary' feel. If that's the case then it also likely will not have Dynamic Drive, swiveling headlight and will have the standard 17 inch wheels. If you're looking for one, I'd strongly suggest a 530(d) with 18 inch and try to get the LCI model (the one with X5 type transmission lever).
  7. Oh dear.... My invoice shows Txt Softec LL-01 at $19.26/l + GST!!! The previous owner's garage used Rimula X Oil 15W/40 or Helix 10W-40 at $9.8/l + GST.
  8. Test drove the new Passat diesel once. It went, and waited and waited and waited, then the turbo kicked in. WTH? Maybe they should learn from E60 535d. Now that's a diesel.
  9. I believe with the 'newer' engine technologies the service interval can get longer. However, there are two things here: 1. It's entirely possible that BMW does lengthen the service interval to drive down the maintenance costs which in turn make their cars sound cheap to maintain. 2. On the other hand, it's also absurd that some mechanic geezer in an Auckland office decides that ALL cars with their mechanical warranty have to get serviced every 10000kms. I think the German engineers who were the makers know their stuff better than some Auckland mechanic. Hence I bought warranty from AA and not Protecta. The previous owner of my Compact get it serviced every 6 months/10000kms with his local garage. They used 'ordinary' oil and after three months the engine sounded raspy. Cost the guy about $150/service. After buying it I got serviced with Jeff Gray, who used more expensive oil. The service cost $230-ish. It's already past 6 months now, and the engine still sounds better than straight after getting serviced with the cheaper oil. Moral of the story, even if you're getting it serviced every 6 moths/10000kms, use a slightly more expensive oil as it will benefit your engine greatly. As my E60? It's counting the brake pads, oil service, spark plug, microfilter, inspection and who knows what else. I pay attention only when it starts to complain :-)
  10. Good idea. I don't need the tyres right now, just because they're cheap. So, the obvious question is ...are you gonna be at Manfeild at that time then :-)
  11. Thanks for the offer, however I don't think the trader will want to move the tyres around. Actually am still trying to get the trader to offer those tyres. BTW, it's a couple of 18inch Dunlops. If anything changes, I;ll let you know.
  12. Does anyone know which transport company that can transport a pair of tyres from Auckland to Wellington? Do the tyres have to be prepared specially for the transport company or can they just pick them up as they are. Thanks for any advice.
  13. Ask for a Z4 as company car. You have to 'represent' -) I forgot to mention that Audi and Merc has regular dealer sponsored drive, which I don't think BMW has. Unless they're only inviting the big spenders.
  14. I see them as the sportier side of German engineering without paying through the nose like for a Merc. I like the handling, quality (sometimes), and how they feel. People will generally see that it's an expensive toy regardless of the age. But with the flood of imports BMW's image gets quite watered down now. Which is kind of good in a way (for me). Not good enough. I am already into my nth BMW, so it doesn't really affect my car choice. Dealer service will affect my decisions more than some slick advertising. However I prefer for more car advertising generally in NZ.
  15. Never mind that with Cadillac you'd be the one that caused the accident as it lurches all over the road. At least it's safer :-) BTW, is that an Amanti or a piece of silver cow poo?
  16. Well, from the local dealer. or see here SSK
  17. If it doesn't have a decent shift, put M3's one in. Or the one from Z3 which will reduce the throw by at least 30%. If you're handy with tools it's a DIY.
  18. Welcome back, been wondering where the 'old hands' were.. Congrats on the new one(s), wife, baby and the E39!!! Talking about wedding, here's attached my E60 a few weeks ago for a friend's wedding. Aren't 5er good for wedding cars.
  19. E36 318Ti. Me? Newlands buses (as a passenger) or E60 530i.
  20. If it's like my old E39, each will cost $300 + GST (from JGBMW).
  21. Second that. Walked past this place in the afternoon, and there was a CLS AMG on the tow truck, and several Mercs and Porsches inside the workshop.
  22. Nope, I rely on eyes Mark I (already modded with prescription glasses) :-)
