  1. and it's on, thru and all over blitsien... apologies in adv.
  2. Lmao, that horse is sh*tting itself!! dont blame it tho...
  3. Lucky escape... you may wana grab a lotto ticket.
  4. ^ cheers, understand what your saying. Yep, would have liked it but it's out of our price range at the mo. The fixed price for the above car is a little over half what mark247 is asking... There's also the 318 we had pre-purchase checked that's being repaired at the mo. Would be our pref once sorted but hard to watch these TM ones going by!
  5. ^ they've certainly looked after it. Yea, it's hard to walk away from and the price seems dam reasonable. May still have a day to get back to them if it doesn't go before then.
  6. Cheers Jamez, Brent. Sounds like the 325 conversion may be a bit more involved than I'd hoped and an auto in the 2.5 seems like a poor choice for a daily run about. Will keep looking through the 318's... thanks again. p.s. here's a couple of pics of the 325i
  7. Hey, still waiting on the outcome of a pfl/man 318i sale here in welly... In the meantime we've just had a TM fixd price offer for a '87 pfl 325i auto import (listing had UK, carjam had SA??), done 123,000k. Looks very tidy and from TM profile, has a lady owner and the offer is at least 500 under asking price. There's also a complete e30 pfl 320 manual conversion currently listed on TM. Would the 320 trans go into the 325i fairly easily? Or into a 318i - seems to be a few being listed at the mo but theyre mostly auto... Also -slightly off topic, does anyone know how to contact a TM seller re a fixed offer? Would like to get more info on the car and now there's no contact details in the listing and car is in nelson! Cheers in advance for any advice Rio
  8. Lol. the "governaotor" was pretty cheesy! funny thing was they'd doubled his h'power, tripled the torque and doubled fuel eff etc. There's a couple of cab companies down here running hybrid/bio(?) etc but hadn't realised the mods could be done to classic cars etc. Guess it's still an engine whatever era it's from...
  9. Caught this on the news, thought people here may find a few things of interest in story... http://www.3news.co.nz/video/Turning-Ameri...ault.aspx#video
  10. Thanks for everyones thoughts/suggestions. 318 sounding like a good entry level model. -Well for now anyway! Off topic - Just started looking at the 520/523?/525's etc and yep they do look nice but can't understand how the bigger engines would be more economical for round town use? I know gas is cheap at the mo but how long will that last really? Considering the recession around the corner and talk of peak oil around the globe... Maybe I could slap a diesil motor in a 525 and run it on veg oil... p.s. apologies in advance if that last comment was offensive!
  11. Ok, so now I'm sorted on the man vs auto -thanks again. i have one last question(s) What's the major pro's n con's for the 318i and 320i e30's of the 80's/early 90's? - Manuals,. So far I've been informed: 1. There's little difference in acceleration between both models? - Not that this is a major issue. Wanting more of a daily cruiser. 2. The 320 is a thirsty model due to it's heavier 6 cylinder engine and associated gear/parts. Smoother drive. - Economy would be a factor, as it would be town driving mainly. Smoother ride could be good, though not essential. Guess the big question is - is the difference in fuel consumption great enough to pass on a 320 for the 318? Would also be interested in any other serious reason to consider the 318i over the 320i Cheers again! Rio
  12. found another one. Obviously not as nice as the above listing but still interesting to see the same car listed as sold reappear within a week or so. Buy now also increased, same seller too. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=190167617 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-191954658.htm Maybe previous buyer fell through? p.s. no thread hi-jackin intended.
  13. Dam I thought that one looked pretty bad til i saw this added today.... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-191924703.htm Wht are these people thinkin!! -say no to crack!
  14. another old one... A very elderly couple are at the doctors for the husbands medical. At the end of the examination the doctor tells the husband, sir -we require a feces, urine and semen sample for further testing. The old guy turns to his wife and says -what did he say? She replies - he wants you to leave your underware at reception...
  15. thanks all... car will mainly be for my girl, and i'm almost an old man! Will be manual tho!!
  16. Cheers Bravo, couldn't be much clearer. Thanks again.
  17. Cheers! Not complete bollocks around a car -just never had a euro model.
  18. Hey oldskool, Pretty sure there is pwr steering it's just not working at mo. Yep , will see how it all pans out. Thanks for the advice. Tastic has been straight with me about car and given me some good advice in general about e30's. He's been good to deal with and is working on getting the car up to scratch. Would like to see a deal that's win win for all concerned. cheers
  19. Lay mans terms please! LMAO. Hmmm, repairs could be a good reason. Apart from being interested myself, I need some concrete evidence to convince my partner that auto's are out, even tho we''re goin halves in a car which is primarily for her! haha. I could still live with an auto, but if we didn't have to... cheers!
  20. Would someone mind breaking down what the benefits and disadvantages are to having manual or auto transmission? (Not only a noob to BS, but car novice in general!) Specifically for 318 e30s between '80 and the early 90's in nz. (General differences would be interesting too). Details I'm interested in are: Replacement/Service. (Including how easily this can be done/found) E.G. With any auto, to replace the ____ you need to remove the whole transmission. Manual transmissions however do not require entire trans removal to replace same/similar parts. Must be preformed/installed by bmw mechanic etc etc. Availability of Parts/Cost. Fuel Consumption (on average). Maintenance/Reliability (general - which tends to require more, more often). Any help would be appreciated. Apologies in advance if this has been discussed elsewhere, or this is the incorrect forum for the query. Cheers.
