This popped up on my daily search update from TradeMe in the week, but by the time I clicked on the link someone had hit the $7k buy now.

Not the tidiest example but seems pretty good buying for a 325i at $7k.

yep its in my driveway now.

i also brought a tech2 325i manual a few weeks back which I will be giving a full restoration. really looking forward to the final result in a few months time.

I am looking for some front sport seats, ideally in black leather but anything considered, if anyone has some lying about. NZ wide is fine. Coupe or Sedan is okay, have the bits here to convert if I need to. Also need a rear pair of premium audio speakers/housings with the tweeters built in. 0273079322

    Mind blown..

yeap, and at least 2 people out there prepared to pay $10 less than the selling price.
last one i sold was for $2400NZD i shipped to a guy in Toronto where I used to live.

Parts are not expencive in NZ compared to elsewhere in the world. Nearly half of my sales are to overseas now. Oddly quite a lot goes to Aussy too, not sure why, maybe they had a cash for clunkers scheme at one point ??

  2. the whole thing is stupid from top to toe.

under the emmissions trading scheme, New Zealands emissions are capped already, and you already pay your contirubution toward that at the pump.
Switching to EVs has the wider effect of freeing up emissions for other industries. there will be no overall decrease in emmissions.
The subsidy is supposed to lower emmissions. true for cars, but not overall.

Thank you @_ethrty-Andy_ so the Facebook one iS a facelift, but has the smaller rear lamps?  May need my glasses on...

I think your auto to manual swap, if anything, adds to the value of yours as it comes with all the parts to return it to factory issued spec, a great approach imho.

No, its not a facelift. Its a prefacelift with an aftermarket fiberglass replica Mtech2 kit.

Noting good;  noting bad?  I think I recall that the convertibles had a delay in applying the LCI, or at least tail lights wise, is that right?  So is this essentially a pre-LCI or?

    Sort of.

all facelift E30 cabbys are 1990 built or later. This means in NZ they are usually registered as 1991 or 1992.

early prefacelift cabbies all have lower rear arches than thier coupe and sedan brothers of the same age. the lower arches were then carried through to all facelift E30s.

and that tech2 kit is fiberglass. it is not possible to fit tech2 kit onto a prefacelift car.

re my manual conversion. yes it is converted because thats my preference, but everything is all OE parts, and i have all of the automatic stuff here to convert the car back if i want to. it can be back to original in 6 hours and noone would ever know.

And i have just sold a M20B25 for more than the asking price in that add.

  6. I have a not so secret desire to buy a 60s Lincoln Continental , but all this stuff does mean i cant see the value in the $60-80K Sticker price for most of them in NZ. thats a lot of cash to have tied up.

as much as i dont like to admit, now is probably the best time to get out of classic cars here in NZ and europe. they have a way to go in the states yet though.

  7. in my experience, it is easy to misalign the vanos on reinstall.
there is no "keyway", presumably for balance reasons.

it is a 5 min job to pull off, or 15 if your rocker cover and coils are in place. would pay to crack it open and check its all in order.

what crank angle sensor are you using ? me and Chris Stoss's racecar has a link in it, there was a bit of faffing around to get a crank angle sensor that was compatable with the Link ECU.

  8. Surprised a Mod hasnt shut this thread down already......

Is this actually a good deal though?  Don't they often do 50% off Castrol 5w30.

Though I am currently due for a service.

$8-10 a liter is normal price.

thats why 320i arent very economical, because they burn more oil than they do petrol

  10.  I always find it funny when people get excited about tax refunds.

If you'd like a bigger refund in 2021, you can pay me $30 a week for no reason, and ill give you back $1500 or so after a year....

Ill get to use your money interest free in the mean time!

I don't want to be pedantic, but yes you can remove and reinstall the drain plug without issue. May not be designed to, but I had no issue with it (did a drain and refill before dropping the pan).

it will have no mechanical lock (thats what you are overcoming when you do it) and will back out.

im sure your one experience of one car is better tho.

  12. Up until January this year, I used to work at a ZF authorised repairer in Toronto.

We did do the seals frequently, but is not included in a standard service, and a full fluid exchange is never recommended.

The filter is built into the pan, and are one time use. once you crack the drain plug, it cannot be done back up again.

if the oil coming out smells like burnt caramel or has excessive flakes around the magnet then dont waste your oil and seals, you are about to be rebilding the whole thing anyway.
