That it does, though it's definitely a case of different strokes for different folks.

Yup certainly is, i would've bought it already if it wasn't for the tan interior. Good luck with the sale, put it on trademe and see how it goes.

Yes sorry wasn't meaning to come off offensive hope you didn't take it that way I've done it before, 17 years old with a CRX, bought it, tried to get insurance and the only place that would say yes was ~2200 premium + 1500 excess, and this was back in 1999! I ended up getting it through a place called AON Risk insurance, they gave me a pretty good price for 3rd party but I'm guessing you'll want more than that on this How long are you staying around in AK for? If you end up driving it down to Otago pm me, I'm in wellington and I made a comment earlier in this thread that if the car was in Wellington I'd be round in a heartbeat to check it out. I've effectively sold my current car today (received a deposit from the buyer) so I could be rather tempted... Scott

Man that's soo unfortunate about the insurance, but it probably really shoulda been something that was checked prior to buying the car I see it's an auction, I'll be watching... oh wait you're in otago, auckland was closer. :/

Pretty sure creditcards have terms stating you don't get cover for things like cars?

Awesome.., I've busted someone doing the same on there a couple of years ago, reported it but all I think they did was remove the ad. I guess it's quite a common problem on the T+E as the page has a scam disclaimer on the bottom of the page Looking at their place-a-listing page I can see why these are rife, absolutely nothing to confirm who you are or how to track you.

As people have said it's not as bad as it seems, the condition appears pretty good inside and out and the price is very reasonable for age/condition in comparision to the others sitting on trademe, i figure it won't last too long on there. Carjam says it's NZ new whilst the ad says it's imported so if it's nz new then thats more points in it's favour. It appears all undoable and after that you would have an incredibly awesome car, if it was in wgtn I'd be around there in a heatbeat. I'm a little surprised though car like this has been riced up with things like a billet aluminum gearknob and tinted tail lights...

It's easy enough to find this out after they meet you somewhere, once they've done that they have the plate, possbily alarm model and anything else they need. There's no real way to do it safely cause they'll need that info at some stage, just depends how far they want to go to get it. I guess it keeps the window shoppers out tho. Best place to meet would be somewhere like a gas station where they have lots of cameras, that way you can at least get the car they travel in (hopefully) or at least them on camera.

I considered looking at the hamann one in TGA while I was there over xmas. The reason I didn't (exclusive of the fugly interior) is because I didn't want to be stuck trying to get a non-factory part that I most likely couldn't find. The CC and power rating of that car are both higher than factory, the last thing I wanted to try and do was find larger rings/piston or longer conrod/differnt crankshaft if something ended up going wrong. If I was worried about buying because of that then I'm sure someone else would when I came to sell it a couple of years later. The price seems reasonable for the km's and condition but at that age I'd want something pretty close to how it came from the factory. Well that and I'd rather spend another couple of grand and get an evo.

Anyone else notice that he's selling the car cause his visa's about to expire and he's going back to South Africa but he's happy to swap for a legnum? I smell a porky.

The closing of passing lanes is to allow traffic to flow properly. What happens when there's lots of traffic is that people slow down to merge at the end (as two lanes of cars try to fit into one) and after a little while it brings the whole thing to a halt, so what you end up with is two lanes of people doing stop/start 5km an hour while people merge into one. When I first saw it after I moved to wellington I thought it was a stupid idea also, but then I released it's better to go through at 20km than be stopped in a passing lane doing stop start for half an hour while people try to merge.

Hello all, apologies from dragging this back up from the deep but I've been shopping for an M3 for a bit and came across this thread and then surprisingly this car. Appears the yard has changed the plate recently, which if it's been sitting at Coombes Johnston BMW Tauranga for as long as this threads been around then changing it's a very strange thing to do. Maybe they've read this forum or googled the plate (comes up with the two threads on this forum mentioning the car), or the cars had a doof in the front/rear whilst on a test drive. Anywho the plate was changed on Sept 2, 2008 and it's EQS581, there was no personalised plate in between. The asking price has also dropped in the last couple of days, 25,995 from 29,995. Shame about the SMG cause it's a bloody nice looking car.
