There is (was?) a white E34 540 on trademe Schnitzer alloys, clear lights front and rear, tints at around 190K km. Was listed about a week ago- can't remember price. Tt was my old car (from Auckland but is somewhere central or southern part of North Island and was a good'n. Can't find listing but can vouch for it

Waht do you think of your recent C36 purchase? Opinion changed from the title line...

Drove though Kepa Rd Shell: could not see a filling 'device'. Went to Shell GI same night- ditto (went couple days ago). I'm talking about Shell GI next to Pak n Save= only Shell in GI? Chr

Possibly nothing- never tried it though- thing was at the time I did have 'bit left over'- bottle was 1/4 full so that would be 25% loss for me- not insignificant... (scenario:) "Hey buddy have I got a deal for you- you pay for a full swappa bottle and loose 25% in the process.. a deal or what"
-
Just moved to Orakei, Drove around look for a gas bottle fill. Only found swappa bottle. Would prefer to fill mine. Obviously swappa must cut down on cost- especially staff time- annoying!

Yokohamas and Continentials both 225/55/16 Good nick 7" width Pretty clean- minimal kerbing Pickup in Orakei Tardme

I bought the rims with tyres on them at the time of purchase. Trouble is one can't see crack on the inside if there are present. I was trying to save some $ by getting rims with tyres- probably would not buy s/h rims with tyres in future. I take your point , yes it can be more more costly buying s/h rims versus new.

Bought some s/h Schnitzer replicas with tyres for my E39 540 a few weeks back. A few days after putting them on 2 tyres went flat sitting in the garage. Bought a couple of good tyres to swap over (one tyre failed but to nail in sidewall). Guy in tyre shop noticed one crack where the bead seats against the rim. This is due to going over potholes (plus an E39 540 is a heavier car) He said this is very common on replica alloys due to the quality of the build/metal density or whatever (can't remember exactly what he said) of the alloys. Conversely he said rarely has he seen stress cracks on genuine original alloys. I'm guessing my tyres may have gone down due the air leaking through cracks. Will see in a few days what happens. Would be bloody annoyed if it's due to cracks- can be replaired but I've already spent about the limit on what they are worth getting them resprayed so would be well over budget if I had to get the cracks repaired. I'll be thinking twice about just what replicas I buy in future... Anyone else had this experience?

Looking for decent amount of tread (5mm min) and even wear

Got my 17" Schitzers (bought from Mike (E34) ) repaired kerb rash and fully repainted. WRS: Wheel Repair Services in Penrose- damn fine job they did. They are open on Saturday hence why I went to them- found them in yellow pages. Arrow Wheels in Kelston was a bit too far for me at the time. Would recommend John at WRS for wheel reapir and repainting- he strips the wheel right back. The finishing (mine were painted silver) was very very good. $130 plus GST per wheel. He said something about it being a bit of a trade price but its probably this price for all. Also a few month back had my E39 fully machine (with a bit of hand) polished at Autowek (sp?) on the Shore (off Wairau Road). Paint had quite a few scratches from previous neglect. They did an excellent job- came up like new. From memory- around $250. Alos got them to apply a Duraseal protection coating- looks great

Hi Just wondering where did you get the shocks reconditioned and the cost- need one done

I had the same thing- bought a second hand seat from Ray, put it it and sent in to Team McMillian to get the sensor light reset. Turned out that one of the wires had come out of the cable connector to the seat- as said: probably from something having been put under the seat. The original seat could have been ok then. Unbolt the seat and check the weiring perhaps. Better to get the fault checked by a pro- unless you electrically minded they can trace back to the cause. If it is the sensor pad at fault, pad and control unit ar both to be replaced. Dude tricking the Airbag sensor = Second hand seat from Brent is a good way to go. Need to fully diagnose cause first

"Cost me $3000 in 2003 and sold for $3800 in 2007"... that's awesome

Yep belonged to a friend of a BS member old thread In 2 minds about it... nay, I'd have it: it's a 540 manual

The 'elbow grease' comment no doubt related to hazed lenses which is what I have. I need to sort that before I change lenses- still waiting for some to come up on tardme as the polishing thing seems not to last very long). Philips VisionPlus (also branded/sold by Hella) are plus 50s and are very good (probably the same thing as BlueVision I guess)

Ray was thinking of doing this to one of his 540's...one day he says...cool project

Really happy with my E39 one. As has been said- qiality is very good. The backing tape seems good qual too (will know in a year I guess- nah should be good). Put mine on and have since seen a couple of the E39 original ones (M Sport of course)- yes they are in line with the end of the boot. They are rather different that any aftermarket one I've seen - more compact. I love the understated line it gives- loving lips over spoilers now Nick why you selling the front lip- the lip spoiler matched it well as we were saying- you probably want to get another in better condition (?)
-
Cool- then confirmed- sign me up me for an E39 lip cheers (not fat just beamer )
-
I know one would paint em to match the car colour but do you know what the colour is in unpainted form? (hopefully black so I can strick it straight on) I'm interest in the E39 one Chr
-
I'd need to check the offset first- if they are the ET18 then ok, else they could be the ET38 would would not go on the E39. I'll have a look when I come over to get the temp sensor and wheel covers. Cheers
-
Check here E39= 74.1 (only car with this 'odd' hub diameter) E38,34,32= 72.6 Check the offset thou-seen wheels from an E38 with larger offset than the 15-25 the link refers to which can make it incorrect for other series cars. Brent- selling the whole car? I'm looking for alloys for E39 if you want to sell alloys (or trade plus $)
-
Cheers. Not bad BBS's but not my thing thou Thanks though
-
Just seeing what's around Not really interested in E34 wheels as requires machining Cheers Adrian
-
Will text you. Yes they are currently on my E39 which is 74mm so you need 74>72.5mm rings. I've seen this question crop up quite a bit on BS in the past- can't remember the answer- many have said that a local tyre shop should have em. If any can point us to a supplier of approperiate hub rings...
