  1. Would have been surprised if you you were interested I guess. I'd prefer black as well! That 540 wagon on TM looks mint.
  2. Looks like Brent's already there! Nice car- wagon with a bit of performance. Gooodd K's too! Just what the doctor ordered Brent.
  3. Hi Brent, Thinking of selling my car. This car hits some of the bases: E34 540i (auto obvoiusly)- arctic white with dark blue leather. White: not quite the black you're after. I said to myself that I would never buy a white car (first i've had) actually an E34 is not that bad in white- especially set against 35% tints- nice contrast. NZ new 168K km, Schnitzer 17" mags. Motor/body/transmission all in very good nick. Looking at buying an E39 540 myself (i'm leaving alone the E34 vs E39 issue to another recent thread on this site). Not sure, still think E34's look much nicer. Recent purchase $9K, looking at no less than $8K. Yes it may be slightly higher $ wise than others but mainly considering condition.
  4. Yip will enjoy a 540- had one before. Happy to be reaquainted! Don't know if it's a respray or not yet. Cheers Martyyn will check re Schnitzer stripes Cain: was thinking just at the horizontal motorsport colours along the sides only like this:
  5. 2 out 5 say good as is: interesting. Yip was the one on TM at 11K recently. Paid 9K. Picking it up tonight. Only saw it in the dark last night but yes seems pretty mint. What he said- Black Schnitzer stripes down the side: whatz zat? 2 black strips? Euro plate= yellow= cool against white
  6. Just purchased a white E34 with 17" Schnitzer replicas and tints Only had one other white car before and said never again would I get one but here I am buying another one.I don't like white cars but the tints make the car look not bad- one good thing about white is that it does make tints more prominant! Am thinking of pinstriping the motorsport colours (light blue, dark blue (purple?) and red) along the sides and front skirt. This is a throwback to the 3.0 CSL touring racing cars of the 1970's (like Ash's link photo in the $100K loan thread below) Was also thinking of a wide strip down the centre of the car (middle of bonnet and roof and right to the back) like a Mustang/Ford (as this is a v8 bmw) but gone off that idea. Any suggestions. Has anyone done this with off the shelf pinstripe tape or vinyl tape say from a sign writing place? What are the results and cost? Chr

    540i E34

1994 167,000 km 17" BBS alloys- has curb marks on all wheels Tyres: bridgestones all with good tread (at least 80%) Mechanically good. Service records. Paint showing signs of (sun?) degredation from behind rear door to rear indicators on both sides- rest of paint is fine- usual stone chips for age Transmission drives very well- very smooth shifting- very good response in sport mode. Grey cloth interior, standard wood grain interior with black and grey colour tones . No rips or tears on seats. All usual BMW bits: electric this, electric that. ABS, Drivers airbag, Towbar, sunroof No rust . (not that one would expect any) Looking for $5900 Call: Adrian 634 2424, 021 114 2030 Trade me

    E34 540

Looking for E34 540 in good nick. Have on myself in good condition mechanically at 167K km. Paint less than perfect. Was thinking of repainting portion of car to mint it a bit but don't really have the energy for it now. Looking to trade for one in minter condition perhaps if someone has one and wants to free up a grand or 2. In in One Tree Hill Auckland. Ray: do you know of anyone wanting to sell one? Mine is the grey one- got a light cluster from you couple of months ago.
  9. So back on the topic: fanatics in Orewa- there's one in Ray right there Back off topic: Ray, which car brings you the most pleasure?
  10. I am after the airduct inlet pipe between the airflow meter and the engine for an E34 540. 2 types: one for models with traction control (so I'm told) half made of metal, the other non traction of rubber/plastic- I need the plastic/rubber piece, 75 degree bend one end and concetina rubber boot the other. Piece is particular to the 540. Also after a driver's side door rubber seal (chassis side rather than door itself) Colour: mid grey trim
  11. I got quite warmed up about getting a 635 myself a little while back. Didn't get one: anything I could afford needed significant rust work. Love the styling. I stand to be corrected but there is no such thing as an E24 M6 only an M635 (concensus on a thread here a few months back) I only really looked at a 635 myself and always seemed to bypassed the 633. Don't really know why thou: 633's seem to be rather less $$$ for what seems to be pretty much the same car. What does the 635 have over the 633?
  12. Concur with my_e36: Had a look at my 540 (E34) owners manual last night- yes the oil does not need to be replaced- says something about 'lifetime oil'
  13. Absolute tragedy: Brock and Irwin. RIP both of you. I agree with Martynn. Anyone on this site puts a link on here to Steve Irwin's last moments would be flamed big time. But for educational purposes if perhaps a few still shots were released, showing the few seconds before the tale comes up- to show Steve Irwin's body position and movements and the like then that's possibly OK. After that, then the ray's tail comes up: Nah - should'nt be shown and would have no educational value. Really unlikely video will get out on the net. Probably will never be released by the family- and why would they? Would you if it was your son

    Dying leather.

OK reread Kerry's post- so perhaps you can't dye leather - motor trimmer so you should certainly know. But- as I said I've had no probs with this stuff (with proper pre spray prep and after care) Cher

    Dying leather.

I've re-dyed leather- Dying leather is fine- as Kerry said just don't change the colour. Both front seats: "VHT Vinyl and Carpet Spray Dye" from Supercheap Auto (I think Repco does it). Worked a treat: used as a daily runner for 6 months after spraying and hardly any wear at all. at around $5 a can- 3 cans total for front seats - cheap and not too shabby option. BrentHartge535i posted some before and after pics of his black leather seat respray a while back- worth a look.
  17. All good - I too went to Team McMillian Newmarket:$36 (kind of original- looks rather photocopied as opposed to printed but properly cut and bound though) Not quite sure why I got it now- driving is the best way to learn, anyways good to have. Surprising cheap for a bmw part from bmw. BMW quoted $370 for a battery- ouch. Still you play for quality! Thanks all- especially Charlie Fox- nice one. Lov'n me car: OK it's auto but it has 286 hp The speed limit is 100Km - sure geting there quicker than I've ever done before Love the Mt Wellington(Sylvia Park) on ramp northbound- foot to the floor in sport mode (of course) roar of a V8- easing back to 110km as I hit motorway speed-after all it only a family sedan (sleeper ) If you've got a bit of power autos aren't that bad really
  18. Positively green. Cheers re photocoping- I'll see how things go. Ta
  19. Cheers Foxy You've got a 540 Sport! Damn. 540 Sport= manual shift right? Damn My car in ex Japan and no service records Great car though, 160K km for under 6K I might try BMW first (thanks Jochen) - $25 is surprisingly good If I don't have any luck I may ask to photocopy yours (all of it yes) it that's possible/practicle Thanks Thanks my_e36 : yes seems to be a bit on ebay
  20. Searched the net for BMW owner's manuals: can't find anything- Just got an E34 540- no manual Perhaps someone has one that I could copy/buy or know of somewhere on the web to download Only reference on the web I could find was bmwusa but registration on the site: doesn't recognise non U.S. VIN numbers Ta
  21. M60 (v8) is probably similar guise as the M30 ("big six"). E34 m30 lifespan= 400- 500K km (plus?) , you'd probably expect similar from m60/62 BMW engine specs: http://www.unixnerd.demon.co.uk/bmw.html
  22. Took me months to sell my E34 535- got $4K - started at $5200 E34s are such good cars- concur with Bezzel: surprised there's not a greater following for them- Jap imports= lower prices for most makes (not comparing Jap to BMW just a comment on the general car market) Started looking at 540's myself- price is anything from 6-10K depending on mileage and extras 225K Km on trademe for a few months= $6K 120-160K Km = $7-9K 163K km car passed in on TM at $3900 reserve was $6500 then went to $5100: reserve $6000 All autos, (rarer) manual IS model= $10-12K They do seem to take a while to sell I'd be in the market at $5800 if you wanted to sell now and are in AKL All the best with selling the car
  23. 'The 'young' lady is for sale, thinking of going for an e28- e36,e30?: nah 1990 207 000 km Auto Good service history UK import January 1992 Leather interior in good nick 16' E39 alloys Maroon red Good condition $4950 Trademe link Adrian, Central Auckland wk: 307 7478, mob 021 114 2030 Ta
