    You careless $#%#$%

Well I managed to get one tool from eurorec in chch, and I got the hinge from BMW (cheers for the advice HELLBM, I see why you have to buy them new!) I'm still after: - A set of 16" or 17" e34 wheels - grey plastic clips that hold the mats down in the car - light grey drivers side floor mat (and possibly the other 3 depending on what the asking price is) - The tow hook that goes in the tool kit, I have all of the other tools. Only interested in genuine E34 parts, will take an E30 tow hook if someone can confirm they are exactly the same? cheers again ps if you pm me I will send you my email address for further contact
  2. I'm sure this question must come up lots... but I need some help with offsets. I understand that the offset on my current wheels is 20mm, I'm guessing the wheels are 7" wide or so... I'm looking at getting a set of 17"x8" wheels, what offset should I get? Do I need to stick to 20mm offsets, or because of the extra width can I go to a 38 offset? Cheers guys..

Will I need to replace the whole fuel flap cover? or is the hinge part able to be replaced separately? I found the part here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=41&fg=25 But will go to the wreckers on tuesday, if they don't have it then i'll get it shipped down from one of the guys on this forum.
  5. So a moment of carelessness lead to me breaking the hinge on the fuel flap... see attached photo So my first question is, where can I find a replacement part and get it fitted? There are also some other parts I want to source replacements for: - Grey floor mats (more specifically just the driver side mat) - The clips that hold the floor mats down - Various tools that are missing from the boot - A full set of genuine e34 wheels, imperial sized, not metric! Also the car has a couple of minor dents and deep scratches that I would like to get removed, can any of you recommend a good panel beater? Finally, where should I go to get it serviced, Chch BMW? Kevin Burt? Cheers guys, it's great having a community like this to ask questions to!
  6. Any reason you recommend them over a place like Kevin Burt? My 540i is due for a service soon, so I'm also interested in where the best place is to get servicing done.
  7. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? or do I need to post more pics up to show you
  8. The M50B20's came out in 1989, the M50B25's came out in 91 in the e34's, but wasn't put in the e36's till 92... i think
  9. yeah i'm really liking the leather.Sorry guys i've been really busy, haven't had time to polish and wax it before taking proper photo's, so here's the only picture I have of it at the moment. Question: My e34 has what appear to be clear plastic headlight covers over the headlights (not shown in picture obviously..), are these required? I don't really like the look of them so would quite like to ditch them...
  10. I went to firestone and got some M5 replica wheels priced up, 16x7, P20 offset, so I'd run 225/50R16 tyres, which have a slightly smaller OD than my current ones. $869 for a set of 4. Am I on the right track? Cheers
  11. So it hasn't taken me very long to figure out that 230/55ZR390 tyres are hard to obtain, so far I've only found (in NZ) that dunlop do them. 1.) Does anyone know where the best/cheapeast place in chch is to get these tyres? 2.) Are there any other tyre options that I have that will fit on the factory wheels? 3.) What are my options for replacing the wheels? I would like to get as similar size to the originals as possible.. but in the more common sizing system. Cheers guys
  12. So I ended up spending less than half what I budgeted for... and got a 1994 e34 540iA SE, NZ new, full service history @ BMW it's whole life. Body work needs a good cut and polish (it's been parked outside for a good few years now), and it has a few key marks and other scrapes, but overall it's in pretty good knick. Pics to come!
  13. They seem to be in short supply in the price range I'm looking at I should also mention that I do a lot of k's, so reliability and comfort are high on the priority list.
  14. Hi all, I'm looking at purchasing my first BMW and had a few questions. Price: 15~20k Model: E46; 323, 325, 328 or 330, undecided as to what body style (estate / coupe / sedan) Year: 98-02 Mechanically is there any difference between the estate, coupe and sedan E46's? Would I be wise to avoid any of the models / vehicle years that i've listed above, any ones that had particularly high maintenance requirements? Any of those models that are worth going for over another model? Where in Christchurch is a good place to get a pre purch inspection done, and can anyone make recommendations for a service center? Anything I should watch out for, or any other advice you guys/girls have is appreciated! Cheers
