  1. Problem not fixed, compressor appears to be blowing fuses This seems to happen randomly after a couple of days use, has happened twice now and can find no connection with any particular action that appears to be causing the fuse to blow. Suggestions... time for a new compressor?
  2. How can I tell? I did a quick google but couldn't find any instructions on how to check My car was a 94/11 production model. Excellent thanks, could have sworn it looked to be a different size, my eyes must have been tricking me... Well you guys seem to know everything else I was more just looking to see if anyone had heard anything by word of mouth... If you want one, yes. Cheers, I was having a look at some becker units on an overseas site, they have UK maps. I'll see what the options are for NZ maps, might flick the company an email see what they say.I think all in one would be preferable, I like things to be tidy
  3. Cheers Jochen, If I'm going to get my hands free calling capability through my satnav, then would I be better off just getting a CP600BMW to replace the 6disc CD changer in the boot? (If it is an option on my car... 94 540i NZ new with business RDS head unit... let me know if you need anymore info). In regards to getting a head unit that fits, will any DIN-1 unit fit in? The BMW factory system looks to be a different size to many of my friend's car's headunits... Also I see some head units in the UK now have built in sat-nav systems, are these going to be released in NZ? Would it be worth looking into getting a unit that can do everything I want? It seems like an awkward place to have a screen for sat-nav though...
  4. that's pretty cool, but why an M5
  5. ah cheers, how did I miss that. Might go check it out during the week if I have time. wonder what they'd give me a on a trade in for my 540...
  6. oh man I'm seriously considering trading in my car + cash for this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=249670005
  7. Cheers, I've bought the wheels, so definitely keen if you can find some caps, only need 2 though, seller says he found 2.
  8. yep, a 4wd e34 touring, these must be rare as... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-249887582.htm Wonder what condition the engine etc is in... exterior looks a bit rough.

    My e34

Looking to upgrade ICE: http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=26038 Just bought some factory wheels to replace the metric sized ones that are on there! http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=248601413 Not the staggered wheels I was after, but they were cheap and look to be in good condition. Might fork out the $2k + for a set of M5 wheels at some point in the future. Done, thanks I looked into that. When it's no longer my daily I'd definitely be keen... Would need a lot of help installing it, or would just take the car up to auckland and get someone like Glenn to do it.
  10. Hey guys, As the topic states, I want to add the ability to play mp3's (either off a disc, or a memory card / usb stick, or both), and some sort of hands free calling system to my car. Sat nav would also be ideal but it is not as high priority as the first two. Budget: Whatever it takes to get a good quality reliable system, I have no idea what sort of costs to expect, but can afford to fork out 500~1500. I'm guessing that because of the age of my car I'll have to go aftermarket, and not OEM BMW ?
  11. Any idea which one he works for? Had a quick look on mainfreight site, about $120~130 looks right. I'm the buyer of the wheels, not the seller, so didn't have exact weights etc. I assume mainfreight require the wheels to be packaged up? or will they pick them up as is?
  12. Thanks, I'll check it out. Any reason I should call you? (i.e. do you work for a shipping company or something..)
  13. Can anyone that's shipped wheels before indicate a good company to do this, and any idea of approximate cost (just want a rough estimate, damn long weekend everyone's closed ;\)
  14. 36131092734Cheers Zenetti. No traded in wheels to sell me?
  15. Thanks Brent. Or just an entire set of 17x8's or 16x7 wheels, et20 offset... if anyone has some for sale. Genuine OEM e34 or e39 BMW wheels only. Need to replace some metrics...
  16. Second hand or new, must be good to excellent condition, genuine OEM parts. (I haven't purchased the wheels yet... I want to make sure I can get the centrecaps first...)
  17. Oh right I was hoping ~2500 haha btw Ray if you read this could you pm me your email address, I'm keen on sorting out some wheels for my car... I called you up the other day about them, will try call again tomorrow anyway.
  18. Is a manual conversion an option for an e34 540? ... oh to have a manual v8.
  19. I'm interested in your opinions about bmw's as a first car (not as a car to learn in, but as a first car to own). I have a friend looking in the 1500~4000 price bracket for his first car: - He is not a car enthusiast, but doesn't want a 'girls' car - He doesn't want a modified car, or to modify the one he buys - He essentially just wants an economical and reliable car as a daily runner. Everyone has been telling him to get a corolla, which I tell him is good advice, but I also find myself suggesting an older 3 series bmw like this one http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-248603624.htm (as my experience with bmw's so far has been quite positive... my wallet may not agree though) Am I doing him a disservice? Is it just going to end in frustration? I am especially interested to hear in the opinions from e36 owners, and of course people like Glenn whom have to service the things on a regular basis...
  20. breakmywindow: keen to buy your wheels if you don't find someone to do a straight swap with...
  21. thanks glenn, got it regassed, doesnt appear to be a leak, still not working, so it's in getting serviced... this could be expensive edit: all fixed, there was an intermittent power supply problem to the compressor (as well as being low on gas), so it's all going again now. Thanks guys (even though I didn't fix it myself it's nice to be able to be somewhat informed when talking to the service staff, so your guys help was appreciated). Brent are you the one on trademe selling those BBS wheels?
  22. Thanks brent, microfilter was blocked... that fixed my airflow problem. But the aircon still isn't working Can you get the old systems regassed? It's probably low...
  23. holy sh*t dude, that's pretty good...is that OBC readout? on road trips I get ~10l/100k, but that's when the driving is 90% open road. Should I be worried i'm only getting 15~16 around town
  24. Good to see another 540, we're multiplying. looks mint, especially the wheels! Fuel economy meter is simple; if it's not past the 30l/100k mark you're not driving it hard enough Seriously though, I average about 15~16l/100km driving around town (that's an average, includes fuel used while sitting at lights etc)
