Where do you find top quality oils like elf, royal purple etc? I can only think of places like supercheap auto and repco but they only sell the cheaper stuff. Probably not worth putting in an E30 but just curoous as to where you would get these oils. Also anyonw know where to find redline oils ? Cheers

Does your e30 burn much oil? I spent almost all day just researching E30 stuff today :/ and read that they often burn quite a lot of that thinner synthetic oil (expensive!). Any leaks using it?

have you tried looking on trade me? A lot of wrecking E30's on there. Just ask if they have the parts and they'll usually get back to you pretty quickly. Probably the first place you tried but just in case you haven't thought i'd suggest it.

Found a lot of threads about this topic but they are all US forums, and they have a different climate, different oil brands etc. Just wanted to see what what people here use. Brand, weight, synthetic or dino? Will be interesting to see what different people use. Cheers

Ah, well it that case i might just bid on it! Max around $2900 probably, hopefully won't meet the reserve. Do you think his tactic is to sell it outside of trade me to avoid the fee?

The seller mentioned in the comments that whoever was the highest bidder would win the auction, regardless of whether the reserve price has or has not been met. I assume he has put the reserve at a high price, $10000 or something so that he can avoid being charged by trademe (success fee?) when the auction is won. Now, say i was to be the highest bidder and the reserve was not met, would i be legally obliged to buy the vehicle? Or could i assume i have the option to pay for it based on whether i like it once i have viewed it next weekend? Just a thought, if this is not possible i will not purchase it without inspection. So, for months I've been looking for an E30. It will be my first car. Anyway, there's one in Auckland (I live in Wellington) and the auction ends tomorrow. I am seriously condisdering purchasing it and going up there next weekend to bring it down. It looks really great and everything apart from some dings here and there. If i was to buy it and not like it, do you think i would lose a lot of money? Guess I'll just keep on waiting for the perfect one! I saw a lot of E30's when i was in Auckland last weekend maybe my best bet would be to go up there and look for one. Anyway thanks for the help everyone!

Hello everyone, I'm 16 and for about 7 months I have been looking around on trade me for an E30. I know it's the car i want, i love working on/maintaining engines and i know that with an E30 there would be a lot of that, after all they are around 20 years old. I have found a manual 325i in Wellington (which is where i live) It has an M50B25 engine in it and power steering from an E36. I have a done a lot of research on E30's with the M20 engine but don't know what to think of something like this. Anyway, heres a link, tell em what you think. And thank you for any help in advance!
