Had a good look for the female end but don't think mine has it. Seems to be okay without that connected so I think I'll give it a go without it. If anyone thinks thats a bad idea let me know :-) thanks for the help

Yeah pre-facelift. Purchased from BMA Auto Parts, searching for 87 specific parts. Looking at it now on their website it say's it fits. Judging by your description, using them without that cable isn't an option right?

Hello, I'm currently in the process of replacing some of the ignition system parts. The new ignition cables I have seem to have an extra cable (old wires didn't have this) coming from the distributor end of cable 6. If anyone can offer any help as to where this cable might plug in and its purpose the would be really appreciated. Edit: I appear to have the wires for 1988+ E30's . Mine's 1987. Would these still work if I didn't plug the extra wire in? Or would it be a better idea to just get the right kind? Sorry if my description doesn't make sense, photos attached

You'll definitely enjoy learning all about the engine, maintenance etc. It's good fun! Plenty of help here too. Nice car. Welcome

As long as it will pass a warrant im happy to buy it as my warrant is expiring and one tyre too is low on tread. I will be getting a new set of 4 at christmas so i really only need it for a month. Would prefer to pick up, I live in Wellington. Thanks.

Im looking at some GT Radial tyres. I heard they are quite good for NZ roads. I will probably end up going with them when I get a new set. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with these tyres?

Thats definitely true! My brother took it for a drive, did some skids and whatnot. Yet to try 3rd gear O's. As for the steering wheel, i quite like the current one tbh. But thanks. Oh i see, i guess its fine how it is then. Thanks for the quick response.

Today i was looking around the engine and I noticed a hose coming from the coolant reservoir. I believe it's the "overflow relief hose" but im not sure. It's a cracked hose and it leads to nowhere? It's just hanging down in the engine bay. Sorry for all the noobie questions/concerns! Photo's attached.

Sounds like a great way. Is this with the engine running or not? And A/C set to heat am I right?
-
It's more of just a constant hissing, not rumbly, not too loud either. I was standing on the drivers side and I can't really hear it - but it's there/faint. Also! I managed to get the front fog lights working, played around with the switch a little. Looks amazing

Just went out and had another look. I think you may be right in saying it's the fuel pump. It appears to be located just above that hose. Should it be replaced?

All great vids no doubt. But personally, I think this guy is doing it right. In a Bimmer too. What more could you want -
A bit late but i have a couple more photos of the interior. I also have another problem, a hissing sound from the rear left side of the car, just in front of the wheel. I managed to find where it was coming from, it's a small hose riddled with cracks. Would it be okay to just get a new hose and replace it? Photo's of it attached anyway.. And here's the hose - It's about 35cm long (sorry for bad quality)

What you're doing is fine but i think you're forgetting to turn the A/C on heat. Repeat what you do with the front jacked up (a sloped driveway works fine too + it's easier), start the car etc but make sure the A/C temp is set to hot. Keep the car running and open the bleed screw about every minute or 2 until no air comes out. Let your car get to operating temp, and bleed until steady stream of coolant comes out Hope this helps! I have never tried it but did quite a lot of reading up on it.

Judging by your signature photo i will definitely take your advise. That thing looks almost like a mirror! very nice :-) P.s I do not recommend buying a 'new' car a week before final exams ahh i just can't find time to study haha. Edit: As for the exterior, it's not quite as good as the photos suggest unfortunately, there is some minor rust in a couple of places, and clearcoat missing in some spots. I'll take some better pics tomorrow
-
haha thank you i just wish they worked! Definitely going to try sort that out after my exams zzzzzz. The cloth on the front seats are just seat covers which came with the car, but i think i will leave them on, although the original seat (lining?) isn't ripped but is a little stained. I'll get some more photos tomorrow Edit: Also is there anyway to clean behind the glass of the headlights? If you look at the photo you'll see that one of the high beam lights is quite cloudy looking and it's behind the glass. I would like to clean it if possible but not a huge deal.

After many months of searching i found myself an E30. It's a 325i and looks to be quite tidy and well maintained, 2 owners in 22 years and the past owner was a retired man who had it for 12 years. It has 316,000km on it and it cost me $1500 which after looking at these on trade me for a few months seems very reasonable. Other than maintaining this car to a high standard i have no real other plans. Anyway, I'll let the photos do the talking. Thanks, I look forward to being a part of this cool little community, Toby EDIT: My rear fog lights work and the yellow dash illuminates to show this but when i switch on the front fog lights they do not turn on and the dash light does not illuminate. Could this be a problem with the switch? Also, car temp after 1 hour drive is a whisker above the blue mark, is it running too cool/rich and should i replace the thermostat?

Where do you buy your (new) bmw replacement parts?
Kepes replied to Kepes's topic in General Discussion
Ended up going with pelicanparts for almost all the parts except the front wheel bearing. Used schiedmann for that, almost a third of the price. Saved ~$85 using these sites rather than using autohausaz. Thanks again!!! -
Title pretty much says it all. I'm looking for a website preferably, either a Nz one or one overseas with reasonable shipping. I tried autohausaz.com, but the shipping for a $129 order is $139 and that seems ridiculous! A physical store would be fine too, one in Wellington preferably though. Im looking for E30 parts in particular. Thanks :-)

BMW E30. 1984-1991 i believe. I think you'd have a hard time finding a E30 with <100,000km Also thanks for all the info guys I managed to find a place that stocks Elf oils so will probably go down that alley when i get an E30. 10w40 or around that
