    Early e34 535's

Scd, Did you ever get the Chip back? Have you installed it? results? would you like my DME # Richard.
  2. Except for our one......it's car dealer pikkies...That is a very nice colour 535is that you have there RXSUMO (I'm biased though )Yes I think I'll be debadging. I'm also getting sick of people asking "Is that an M car" Then I have to go through the rigmarole of explaining that it isn't even close to an M5. I just saw this smiley. Looks like a pint of Guinness, I could do with one of those this evening!

    New Car

That is one great looking car. Has it been resprayed at some time? The paint job looks great. I'm with Gus on the second photo. The pumped guards with the changing light on the paint looks great!
  4. I wanted to debadge my car before I saw it. But I presume the dealer sold it with the ///M badge on it. (no model designation). So I'm in two minds. Did RXSUMO's and KIWI535's both come with the ///M Badge's on the 535is? I personally prefer Debadged. Simple, Clean and funtional looking! Very German. INMHO.
  5. I've since done a bit of research on the flywheel thing.Yeah it is actually the gearbox rattling when the engine speed goes through the critical resonce of about 400rpm for an instant when you turn it off. This causes the transmission to rattle while the clutch is engaged. The Technical bulletin I found from BMW on the matter suggestes putting the clutch in when turning the motor off. It also says this can not be termed a technical fault. I had a bit of a scare though as I took it to a certain BMW Tech who told me it was probably about to fail and it would cost over $7500. Nothing like a bit of your own research to get the full story. Memeber of BMWCC? yes I plan to join. The car feels rock solid. By far the nicest car I have driven. I don't think it will be the most expensive to keep on the raod. I've owned a Lancia Delta HF turbo, and also a Range Rover (2dr). The Lancia, some of the parts were very hard to get! It was great fun though. With regards to the V8, 540 185bhp/tonne 535 138bhp/tonne (from John G, Burns) Tells the story.
  6. Here is that BMW being prepared. My friends did the suspension work on the rear end. Mounted a GTR Diff. Completely custom. Manufacterd the wishbones etc. New hubs. The roll cage was done at Just Rust. The front brakes were also done here in CHCH. I haven't seen it for 10 months but it looks pretty good. It will be interesting to see how it goes.
  7. 1990 535is Manual. With around town in Auckland for a tank and a drive from Auckland to CHCH, OBC reported, 10.4l/100km. Sitting on a "good" speed most of the way. Around CHCH at the moment I'm getting 13-14ish & Loving it! My readouts though wont mean much as they are not over a long period. Just as an aside, how accurate is the OBC? I haven't put enough gas through it and taken note of the K's to suss it out?
  8. Paul, I got it for a bit less than what the guy was asking for it.I'm based in CHCH. Sounds like I was the only one who had cash, all other interested parties were having to arrange finance. I would guess if they are arranging finance they shouldn't be buying a car like this. The Dual Mass flywheel from BMW is over $3000, that gave me a bit of a laugh!
  9. Hi, I've been hanging around here for a while thought I should introduce myself. My name is Richard. I just took delivery of the above mentioned. I'm very happy with it. It is so straight and everything works well. The paint is in great nick, apart from the odd scratch etc. Drives better than it should for a car of that milage. Has quite a loud exhast on it which is great when your giving it the jandel, but a bit noisey for heading to work in the morning, so I might have to do something about it. Only thing is the Dual Mass clutch is giving a bit of noise when you turn it off, easily fixed though by putting the clutch in. Has anybody here put the E28 Flywheel and clutch on? Many thanks also to Paul and Brent who gave me heaps of great advice earlier in the year when I was pursuing another car. I'm really looking forward to getting out on the track. Specs: 1990 535 is Manual NZ New FSH 290,000km's Sorry I haven't got any new photo's yet. Only the TM ones.

    M3

When I was out there looking at a M325i that they had for sale. He said that the they had both sold, the M3's that is. So I'm not sure why he is selling this again. He did say that the 20k ones were pretty rough. I think they had a red one at some stage as well. He showed me a 30k M3 deep blue, he had just imported, that was mint!

    M325i

Just out of interest, I'm looking at a similar thing with a 325i Motorsport, UK import that is riddled with rust, what did you pay? How many Miles did it have?

    Icebreaker gear

Ice Breaker has always been great. They just had a final sale here in CHCH. It is now going to be produced in China. Not sure if the if the quality will be affected. Another Co. bites the dust.
  13. It has all the good bits. I know Roger Townsend MK II RS2000 down here is worth something like that. In saying that, it is has history, which is the bit that really counts. He has the best presented cars on any race day. You should see his Colonge Capri. Stunning. (although not runnig at the skope classic where the photo was taken) It is amazing with the Escorts when you compare the times that they run against the 4WD cars in the rally of Otago. They are not far behind at all. Still very compeditive. Hence part of the reason they hold there price. They were also dominant in their day. It is a shame the classic Rallying doesn't get more coverage on TV.
  14. Pioneer Autoparts, 12 Mowbray St, Chch. They do both Enamel and Crinkle finish. For the crinkle I just use a Hot Air gun for the heat. You can get them from Bunnings for $19.95.
  15. Chapter 7 & 8 from the Haynes Manual that is Stickied seem to be missing? I've done a search through the forum, and I haven't been able to find anything on this. So am I missing something, or are they just missing? If they are missing does anyone have a copy of them available? Cheers.
  16. Thanks for that Cain & Marcel. 450hp was what the old ring taxi had 2 yrs ago when I was there last. 507hp has got to be good.
  17. Marcel, is there any where on the internet you can book for the Ring Taxi? Or at least find out when it is running? Last time I was there it was running the day after I left. Gutted. I'm hopefully going to be there in Oct. again. Price as I recall was around 200 Euros for up to 3 people in it at once.

    Aluminium Floor Mats

Instead of painting the mats. Provided they are aluminium. I would get them anodised, it would be a lot harder wearing and look a lot better. You can get them anodised in black, blue etc. usually not red as the anodisers don't like doing that colour as it can go wrong. Surprisingly cheap as well. It is done on weight not area.
  19. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...on-21311683.htm Does any one know any thing about this car? Has any body viewed it? I'm interested but I'm in Christchurch. I mainly want it for a track hack. So Rebuilding motor is on the cards anyway.
  20. 325i 1989 5sp Manual 2 door Wanted Does any body have, or know of one of these for sale? I would also appreciate any feed back on things I should be looking out for. i.e. engine specs or drive train variations that I should be wary of. I've read through a lot of the forum, but any other advice would be gratefully accepted. Also any advice on price, but I know this always going to be subjective and you can't beat looking around to get an idea. I'm based in Canterbury so SI would be great, but would travel for right car. Any feed back is appreciated. Cheers.
