Hi All Here is the replacement for my poor E30 (RIP). It is a 1997 323i. Bought at Turners Auctions for $9600. It has done 94,000 k's. Its exterior was pretty messy, ans the paint was badly oxidised. The interior is in pretty good nick, and the engine seems in good nick too (the engine at least was well maintained). I gave the exterior a good going over today, and it came up pretty well. Just a few bits and pieces to tidy up over time. The bonnet is reasonably stone chipped, and as the car is black, it shows them up a lot. Also it has nasty fake wood trim, which cracks me up. I am not a fan of it being an auto, but I can live with it (as this is only a short term thing). It is staying standard like this, as I don't want to spend any money on it, apart from that required to keep it going. Once it is serviced tomorrow, all will be well (I hope). Cheers Grant

The car I hit was an early 90's (maybe late 80's) jap import Toyota sedan thing (not sure what it actually was). It was a piece of dung before it crossed my path, and even bigger piece of one afterwards.I got him on his passenger front corner (as he was turning across in front of me), and stoved it in pretty well. I'm not sure, but I would be pretty certain his is written off too. Apparently his car was still in the same place 2 days later. As he had no insurance, and blatantly lied to the cops, neither my insurance company (who sent the truck to pick my car up), or the cops were too interested in helping him sort out what to do with his car. I have been working on the E36 all morning, and have the inside completely tidied up (all but one annoying bit of trim I need to sort, and a couple of replacement parts to find in time). Now just got to start on the outside and get that looking decent (which I'm sure it will...the paint is pretty oxodised, but should tidy up nicely enough). The E36 has the would's nastiest tyres on it, they are "Hero" branded (and are all brand new). I guess I will replace these soon enough too. Also I have booked it in for a full service and going over as well on Monday, so should be good to go after that. Cheers Grant

here are some better pictures of the wreck. Pic 1

I'm not sure...I think they look that way because of the protective film on them held them all together. I know at least the high beams are badly cracked. The ellipsoids may be ok though. Cheers Grant

Cheers all for your well wishes.I have bought another car, needed one by Monday really, so bought a 1996 323i (black, auto, 4 door) at Turners Auctions today. Paid $9600 for it, it has done 94,000 km's. The body needs a bit of TLC (but it should scrub up ok), but the inside is in good nick, and the engine seems in good nick as well (will get it serviced next week and get anything sorted that needs sorting). I had a good drive of it this arvo after picking it up, and it seems ok, good cruiser, and very comfortable. Certainly wouldn't win any races though. It is stock standard, and it will be left that way as it only has to serve its purpose until I go overseas. Once I get my camera charged I'll take a couple of snaps of it and place it up. Also I have some nice new shots of my damaged car (got the photos developed today). I'll post a couple up later. Cheers Grant

Yup, hard as nails I am. Sorry maybe should have mentioned, both I, and the chimp who crossed the centreline around a blind corner in front of me were ok. I has a bit sore for a couple of days, but only a bit of whiplash, and where the seatbelt prevented my face being introduced to my steering wheel. Luckily Brook was about 10 minutes ahead of me in the jeep, so she was neither in the car, or saw it all unfold. The other geezer is being done for careless driving, and as he was uninsured, will be harassed by my insurance company I guess, and will be paying it off at $10 a week or however these idiots repay their damage. most of my oil and coolant on the road

another pic. Drivers door wouldn't open, had to climb out the passenger side.

This is what happens when you hit a car head on at 80km/h. E30's are pretty strong. A right off though. Note the nice mix of engine oil and coolant....this is the remains, most of it is still on the middle of the road. Cheers Grant

Wow, got car back already, was the fuel pump. BM Workshop gave me a reasonable discount on list price of the pump. They were legendary as always, got the car towed there pretty much unannounced at 2pm, and got it back all fixed at 4pm. And they are busy too (I must somehow have preferred customer status seing as a fair portion of my salary gets donated there each year). Cheers Grant

Cheers for the offer.I've bit the bullet and my car is now at its second home(the BM Workshop). I am too busy this week to muck around with the car, and need it sorted asap. Cheers Grant

Hello Would anyone have a Motronic (in tank type) e30 325i fuel pump, in good working condition that they want to get rid of? I think that the 320i one is the same (so will take one of these if anyone has one). I need it semi-urgently (as need the car going by Friday). Had a rather enbarassing breakdown on the southern motorway this afternoon. Cheers Grant

Yes, you should be able to read it once you remove the panel below the steering wheel (the big one that the pedals go through, and that hides the steering column). With a torch, you should be able to read then number off the ECU casing easily enough. Failing that you should be able to take the ECU out, get the number and put it back in within 5 minutes.

We don't have one in the E30.Cheers Grant

We have no problems with our canvas topped Wrangler. It has never been tampered with at all. Cheers Grant
