Cheers for the advice guys, I only have third party and theft cover (couldn't justify the costs of full cover compared to the price of the car). I will be going to see my insurance company this afternoon to figure out exactly what I can and can't do. I figure they would know best. Thanks again Jeff

Hey guys, Story so far: A truck reversed into my car last week, left two gouges in the bonnet about 20cm long. They have admitted that they caused the damage yesterday and also that he will not be claiming insurance, as his excess is about $1,000. I went to a few panel beaters just after this happened and got a few quotes (for $550, $1,000 and $1,250). My questions: 1. Can he tell me which panel beater I have to go to, to get it repaired. Or can I choose and he will have to pay regardless? 2. Can I argue that the lowest quote is not fair, because the other two were going to do the same job, but the cheapest was not going to do as much (the dude that hit me suggested I go to the one that gave me the cheapest quote and he had already spoken to them, to me sounded a bit dodgy). Thanks Jeff

Hey guys, Got a replacement coil for my 320i, part number is not exactly the same, the last three digit number is 764, where I think the ones its got in at the moment are 768. Would I be correct in assuming that this would not make any difference? Cheers Jeff

I don't suppose you'd be down Palmy way any time soon? Would be very keen if not for the distance. Cheers Jeff

Is it a bad idea to unplug the climate control panel? Did it this arvo and on the way home seemed like the air con was on the whole way? Im assuming that would be normal? Cheers

Avoid the jap import 5 speed autos like the plague.

Hey guys, The aircon on my '97 320i has been playing up for the last week or so. When I start it up and try pressing any of the buttons I get no response, display doesn't light up, no change in airflow. After a while, maybe 10 mins or so, it will start to work like normal, and in the time that it takes to fill up with gas it is still works fine straight away. Thought this was a little wierd. Not sure if it's related but, my radio sometimes does this aswell (very infrequently) but has been doing it for the last few months, and have never noticed the aircon problem before this week. I pulled out the radio about a month ago to fix the display, could I have knocked a wire or something? Cheers Jeff

Welcome dude, sounds like a good find.

That engine bay looks sweet, interior looks classy aswell. Very nice job you've done there. Wheels would probably look best silver IMO

Yeap, there is one, relatively easy to replace. Just did mine (not very much from the dealer) Well worth doing, looks great at night.

Easiest way is to replace the 'threaded' in the url with 'linear'. There is a sticky somewhere that covers this....

^^ Why don't more people drift E30's?? They look better than most jap cars, sound way better, no turbo to worry about (unless i'm mistaken). Wheres the downsides???? Kinda makes me want one....
-
They didn't say much else (wasn't talking to one of the mechanics), only other thing was that it would probably be a cheaper option to put a second hand engine in. From talking to them it didn't sound like they had been looking at it for very long, maybe just started it up and came to that conclusion, seemed a little odd to me.

After the passenger side brake duct preferably with the external temp sensor still attatched. Cheers

Hey guys, My 97 320i hasn't been running too sweet as of late: 1) idle, often seems like it is misfiring and at low revs also, but when I'm still in neutral can give it a bit of gas (only to about 800rpm) and it will even itself out and go back to misfiring when I release it. 2) High revs (3k+) smokes quite a bit and doesn't sound very smooth (feels ok though). 3) Sometimes can misfire(?) low revs and lose most of the power, but is usually very smooth and normal. Took it in to Jeff Gray BMW to check this out and when I went to pick it up they said that they didn't even hook it up to all their flash machines etc. because they noticed the high revs thing (I hadn't noticed this until then) and they thought it was an internal problem, valve or some such. Just wondering if this seems a bit weird to you guys as I have no real experience with engines. Thanks Jeff

Yeah, thats definately something i'd never put on any car..... let alone a BMW
