As far as chrome wheels go you could do a lot worse. otherwise :thumb:

That sounds interesting, I dont think the swingometer is as useless as people make it out to be. I will try out the stock chip in the next few days if i can find it. See how it goes.
-
Thats what I thought, maybe is it possible to reach a compromise. I thought of maybe swapping the stock chip back in to see what happens. But beyond that I dont have any idea what could be done if anything. I dont mind burning a little more fuel but maybe a little less than whats being burnt now. But I reckon the manual conversion would balance things out only my diff is 4.27.
-
Just a question regarding fuel economy, I have noticed my fuel consumption increase since changing the thottle body I used to average about 10l/100km. I think now its more like 10l/ 75-80km same kind of driving . What direction should I be looking in to fine tune the air fuel mixture and regain some economy? Custom chip/ ecu? Idle control valve?

How hard is it to find the Mtecnic Bodykit?

Yeah I thought the Breyton one looked good also. -

Check it! http://www.carshine.com.au/index.htm -
Yeah Im pissed cause used cars are too expensive here and they have put a lid on used imports which are better in my opinion.

Is the IS style front lip spoiler for the F/L E30 the same as the Mtechnic 2 kit? I bought one of those off BMW a little while ago, so they are still available new. the straight ones also. Needs to be painted though. -
Yep E30, I was beguining to think it might be a waste of money, 110 bucks delivered seems ok. Will get a front one eventually, dont know about a roll cage though, if I had the right car and the dough.....man Im just messen around at this stage.
-
Just curious, has anybody experienced any added benifit from a rear strut brace? I was wondering if they do anything for handling in hard cornering.
-
I got a factory fitted Mtech kit on my 4 door, click on coffee&doughnut the photo is pretty small though. Should all fit.
-
Mine is a F/L, at the front as far as I can tell the shocks are black at the front and are much heavier looking than the rear, at least one of the springs has the pink stripe. At the rear I have yellow Sachs shocks. The ride is smooth on good roads, but stiff and bumpy on imperfect surfaces. I will look at replacing all four with Bilstein sports. So maybe the ride is stiff due to the shocks losing efficiency and me not really knowing for sure if its the way its meant to be? I have only 111000ks so wasnt expecting them to be on their way out. I spent a couple of days driving an E46 and when I got back in the E30 it felt a bit like an armoured viehcle.
-
The front dampers on the M-tech set up are Bilstiens? Is that correct? So the Bilstien Sport would be the same ones or similar? Any difference between the two. It probally is the shocks squeaking, sounds like mice.
-
Ok then, probally sourcing the offset bearings will aproach the cost of camber plates as the ones I am looking at on E-bay are most likely to be standard ones. Will M3 strut bearings fit? I have M3 offset bushings in the control arms. Also if replacing front dampers which would be the best replacement in an M-tech set up Is there a particular model No. for the Bilstiens?
-
Yep I reckon it is faster too, took it out on a familiar stretch of road and topped the usual speed by about 10kmh on a relativly short run. Not a particularly accurate test but satisfying all the same. :bounce:
-
Does the M-tech suspension set up have some kind of camber plate fitted already? Or do the E30s with non-M-tech suspension use the same type of shock mount? The stock setting is fine to me I just dont want to replace the mounts and find things have altered. These mounts are about $32 US each I am not in the market to pay $270 US at this point.
-
I changed the OEM pads cause the dust was prolific, fitted PBR metal master pads all round about 75% less dust so pretty significant, pads cost $30 US a pair, E-bay, they need to warm up a little and sqwark a little until theyre warm.
-
I am getting a lot of squeaks from the front of my E30, it is a 320i sport with M-tech suspension. My guess is that its the Shock mounts that are one of the likely culprits. So I am looking at these ones on E-bay but I dont know if they will alter the original camber settings. Can anyone advise me here? I would like to get adjustable camber plates but cant afford them at this stage. Part #: 31-33-1-139-452 E30 - 318i, 325e, 325i, M3 .

Well got the 325i TB fitted, ground away and polished the intake entry to create a good match for the TB, also attacked the manifold with a rotary wire brush and a steel scowrer, came up like new worked a treat. So far cant tell if its faster, it revs quicker, feels smoother, not as congested when going at 40-60kmh, a little more responsive and its not running as rich. It does seem that the AFM produces a bottle neck that and/or the entry to the airbox/filter.
-
Got the 325i thottle body, I am getting ready to fit it, I have an Air boot that is a 325i one but the aperture for the idle control valve is positioned differently so it may pose a problem. Will keep you posted.
-
I bought a cheap chip. Its Ok really, I figured $500 or $50 and a little research. I can always stick the original one back in , but the motor is better with the cheap chip, snake oil is expensive.
-
Try to get wheels that were either made for or intended for the E30 then you cant go wrong for looks or fit. 15 inch basketweaves are not too hard to find, the extra width over the 14inch is nice, fatter tyres. The best tyres you can, with good wet traction, or you could find yourself facing oncoming traffic!
-
Thats tough, the same laws dont apply here in Oz, there are other restrictions though.

What are Cobys? .. Resonators? I am trying to decide wether to cut out the cat, retain the twin exhaust and add 18 inch twin resonators, or get a high flow Cat and go 2 into 1 into 2 again at the muffler. Would twin resonators be likely to keep the noise on a similar level as it would be with the stock Cat? thats what I am unsure of. Dont wanna wake up the dead.
-
I have been running a chip which has upped the performance somewhat also K&N panel, and remus exhaust, but it also runs a little rich, so maybe things will balance out a bit with the improved air flow, is that likely? The car is very well maintained new o2 sensor, plugs, etc I think the cat is shot though so looking at replacing with free-flow type. It would be good to hear how the 325i manifold goes as you have already trialled the TB.
