I've been a lurker here for years and owned a fair few BMWs, but nothing really worth showing anyone.
Just this week I swapped my E39 540i for this NZ new 328i manual in Boston green, in albeit tatty condition
As you can see it is a bit of a project to tidy up. The drivers door card was held on with some cable ties due to the top plastic support shattering, the driver's seat has a small hole appearing in the outer bolsters and the gearknob and steering wheel leather is typically worn through
Mechanically it is mostly sound.
90% of the supesension is replaced, new shocks and most of the nushes done with Nolothane (black)
The clutch has been done recently also
It needs new top hats in the front, so OEM M3 ones will be going in
I plan to keep it kind of stock and tidy it up and do a few little track days for a giggle
I have already repaired the door card well enough to stop it flapping around but am going to replace it because there are screw holes.
I have removed both front seats and fixed a non operational front-back passenger motor
Fixed a wiring fault on the driver's pre-tensioner
Fixed a non working passenger window and put new clips in the door and re-glued the inner plastic reinforcements back on properly
The first thing I will tackle in the near future under the hood is a full cooling system overhaul
Later down the track I will be installing an SC14 with PWR water to air and a water meth kit, I have already got this all mounted on my spare m52, I did the mounts myself as it's easy enough, it works with either m50 or m52 manifolds, with the small frame size PWR cooler sitting under the manifold
This post was too long, sorry chaps-

Hi guys after a cam, rockers and lifters for an e36 m40

Will consider a complete head if price is right

Loving this thread! Nice to see some fussy buggers like myself out there.
For what it's worth, common causes of snapping rocker cover bolts are,
Oil in the threads, hydrolocking
Alloy and metals having dissimilar heating rates and locking on the threads (stainless is absolutely horrible for this)
Dirty threads
Not super accurate torque wrenches.
It pays to have a few bolts lying around with grooves cut in 'em to chase your threads with
It's always gay when a thread decides it's time to strip!
The steering rack mod excites me a lot, keep up the grouse work man-

Well, the missus sleeps in the dog box
I let her in some times.
Ah, I see what you mean, sorry. It's very common for people to confuse dog engagement (oh no, not like that...) and dog-leg.
As far as I am aware there were no substantial advantages to the dogleg box, except I think the ratios were nicer? Then evened out by the diff. Only driven a standard H pattern E30 M3 -
Am I on the wrong track thinking the dog boxes have stronger internals?
Dog box and dog leg are two entirely different things, sadly.
A dog box is like 99.99% ofbikes, using dogs to engage gears, pretty brutal and rough in a car but strong and very fast
A dog-leg is just when first is down the bottom and off to the side, which is lovely for driving quick with, makes 2nd/3rd and 4th/5th straight throws

some had butterflies in the intake that fall off, which is fun. auto ones are incredibly beige and ones that have been used to tow are best avoided. a GF 626 would be a better car for similar money.

Hi guys, have a PFL E30 track car in the owrkshop at the mo, am after an E32 735 master cyl (non-hydrualic booster) I think the E34 535 runs the same 25mm master?
Also after a window motor, being PFL it has the worm gear drive.
Cheers, Doug.

Was supposed to be good for 180mph.Fella we're talking the 60's -70's
They did an oil burner one too, even faster.
To my knowledge the fastest rotang powered proddy car is the last of the S6-8 RX-7s at just over 160mph.
I knew some car history once
-
Did a fair few mph when it was made too, if it was a production car it'd still be the fastest rotary production thingy.I think I heard somewhere it was producing 500nm plus and 300hp? On a fibreglass car with no weight that would have been quite a bit of fun.
LADA/VAZ did some too... probably not so fantastic

Very cool project and different. Love the 6spd box!

Before:
During rebuild
Need for rebuild:
Only original parts = left hand switch block, bar ends, some of the loom.
Everything (yes, everything) is another bike.....
-
That's a cool XV250 Kerry.
I'm up for a Bimmersport bike built off. I'm doing up a ZZR600 at the moment, polished frame/swingarm, USD's, RS250 GP replica tail unit, custom gauges and shorty neptune cans. Just a simple and tidy streetfighter.
-
Didn't those later model 'Blades have some stupid Honda immobiliser system that goes mental every time you look at them?
-
I saw this too late, I had a mint ZZR600d(3) (Around 100hp) untill a week and a bit ago I could have sold you. It's a mega pile of turd now and undergoing an epic re-buildIve got a project for tec and in need of bike bits or a whole bike
Needs to be 600cc or bigger (75hp minimum)
Most importantly it must be cheap
Damaged or de-regd is perfect as long as engine and elecs work

One just popped up on tardme, but it's too expensive, they want 2.2k and it's as ratty as sh*t.
I could sell you mine when it's finished?

This is a huge amount of win.
Will be watching rather closely.
-
That is uber cheap!

Do tell us.... =D

BBS LM + E46 coupe = a substantial win. Onya Heino
