No worries! Please let us know if he ever changes his mind! (No chance of a bidding war against the almighty father-in-law? )

    E30 Cab

Followed the build so far, and as a fellow North Shore resident, I must say I am ridiculously tempted right now.... Tourings or cabs! The age-old question!
  3. Hi all, Is anyone able to recommend a good mobile pre-purchase inspection workshop? I'm very interested in a vehicle with it's registration on hold, so I'm unable to get it to a workshop in a cost effective manner. Aside from the problem of the inability to test drive it on the road (both myself and the inspector) does anyone have good recommendations? I know Glenn from Botany Motorworx recieves seriously glowing reviews here each time. Further context, the vehicle I'm interested in is currently out in Manurewa. Thanks in advance,
  4. Hi Lance, Very, very interested. Is this car still available for sale? If so, are you able to provide a couple of photos of the interior please? In particular the drivers seat condition, headlining and rear hatch. Quick list of queries: How is the transmission? Sun roofs leak? Rear hatch opens and closes? Any play in the steering? Rust/clearcoat? Why do I have so many questions? Cheers, would like to organise a viewing sometime this week/weekend if possible.
  5. Your signature is fantastic
  6. Thanks mate. It's a 525i, imported from Japan in 1999 I think. That sure is a scary list.. Another query, how much can I rely on the PPI to tell me these things? From what Greg at Team McMillan said, it was largely a visual inspection only. Apart from the bushings, everything else on your list will require some disassembly to get into. Another one I am considering is Lance's E34 http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=45606 Higher km's, but NZ new with the SLS removed. Lower price too! The original one I'm looking at was listed around $5000 (before negotiation though)
  7. Hi all, I have been seriously considering purchasing a 1993 E34 Touring. As a bit of a thorough learner, I've done a bit of reading on these forums, messaging a couple of very useful members here, and have a rough idea of where the risks etc are. I've spoken to Chris from BM Workshop to find out more about the PPI process, and he did highlight a few things which I had thought originally wrong (primarily the availability of parts, the very likely threat of wear and tear etc). Essentially, my question relates to if I am being sensible here in aspiring to own a 20 year old BMW with relatively hard to get parts, especially for the first car I purchase myself, for myself. Has anyone had bad experiences? Even after the largely visual-inspection PPI, how likely is it a reasonably well looking will need comparatively expensive maintainence work? If it helps, the vehicle in question still conatins the original SLS system and has done about 218,000km. Things will be moving forward in the next few days, so I thought I would ask the community for any last minute advice. Cheers for your time,
  8. Thanks team! I am indeed looking closely at E34's and I've been on the lookout for a particular car for since the beginning of the year. It's probably a bit unreasonable, but to be honest I'm a little scared to share which Trademe listing I am currently in talks with in case somebody sweeps in and seals the deal before I get my PPI done! Sure makes it hard to ask for advice though!
  9. Forgive me for the thread necromancy here. I'm looking to get a pre-inspection purchase done by a good BMW workshop in Auckland. I've read through the discussion here and will be giving BM Workshop a call tomorrow. However! Since this info is all from 2009, can anyone advise how relevant this info still is? Can anyone else suggest any other places that might have cropped up in the mean time?
  10. Been introduced to bimmersport forums through a good friend of mine! As title suggests, I have been eyeing up Trademe for quite a while now looking for my next adventure. Having recently graduated from uni and starting to earn a little more money, I've been trying to learn as much as I an before going and making a purchase. Looking at setting up a pre-purchase inspection by a reputable BMW workshop, but have an embarrassingly small amount of knowledge when it comes to these things! From the "BMW workshops in Auckland" thread, I'm looking at getting BM Workshop to take a look for me. Have the times changed since 2009? Are they still a good place to go? Cheers! Looking forward to learning and contributing to this great community
