Ha, remember that you'll be looking at it a lot more than us in the forums!

Ha, you should buy it Jordan and put your bags in. Then you can join our neighbourhood gang

Hi, the body colour looks great with the houndstooth fabric. Just a small niggly question, did you mean to type in tech1 wheel? The image supplied shows a tech1 and not tech2. Best of luck for the sale, a bit higher priced than what you see on the likes of trademe, but from what I see a very very tidy and a much better maintained cabrio.

I have a little composites experience, but not a lot of specific door card experience. Epoxy is horrendously brittle, whilst strong in cases with vibration it is possible over time the bond will fail. Epoxy can also vary a lot with temperature it is exposed to. If temperatures are too high you can force the resin's atomic bonds to "melt" or if the resin requires a specific temperature before the molecules have enough energy to properly crosslink and you only use it in room temperature it could only be like 10% of its final strength. Other things too, I'm not sure what's in the other side of the door card, but I would be scuffing both with say 220 grit (maybe even 120 grit) sandpaper, cleaning with solvents and bonding properly. But as before, perhaps epoxy isn't the best here. Maybe look into more ductile adhesives like urethanes or even silicon sealants? There's a lot of area, so the adhesive doesn't need to be crazy strong.

Hooray, makes me love my blue tartan even more! Sorry I can't see where you're located through my phone, buy maybe we can see your e30 tomorrow at the meet!
-
Yeah I have seen her on trademe for a while now, hoping for the best. Quick question, is the tartan an iS special feature? My friends cabrio has the exact same upholstery... Lol surely its not an iS cabrio? It is pretty quirky in terms of its features...

Have you seen the red tech1 cab on trade me at the moment? Very intriguing!
-
Tempting! But I haven't looked into anything related to manual conversions yet. It is on my list...

Looong shot. Anyone have an E30 Coolant Temp Sensor lying around?

If its those Bosch blue sensors, Gavin at euroitalian has them for around 12 if I remember correctly I had bought a few from his for other projects in the past -
Another lap around the solar system Brent.... Edit: (process that!)

Hi all, Have found myself some relatively nice Smiley headlights, but now need the mount and highbeam in which it goes into, as well as the connector to rewire the PFL loom to accomodate the FL light assembly. Any assistance would be much appreciated,

Bringing up a relic thread here, but does anyone have a 16x8 20p in Auckland who I would be able to have a test fit with? Would gladly show my gratitude with some cash or beers. Colourwise, just deciding between silver with gold "studs" or gold with silver "studs" with the cirrusblau... Surprisingly little examples of gold on the great Google

You probably know already but FL lenses are different to PFL lenses as they have different directional location features. Was caught out myself during amateur hour!

My RHS headlight is cracked but sealed with clear silicon. Managed to get a WOF with it with the just before I bought her

Whoops, forgot to also ask: I'm under the impression '88 was the first facelift year, but yours is definitely a prefacelift. Wizardry? Second, what kind if front lip is that on there? All my trawling in online forums and I've never come across it before

Thick and fast man! Was a little surprised when I remembered your name before I could figure out from where. Very impressive man, should have had a better look when I had the chance. I am intrigued by two things: you have done a 5 stud conversion? Those BBS wheels in the picture above look exactly like what I am hoping to achieve. Still have yet to install the smileys I got off you guys that day, gotta get a FL mounting assy for it. Project looks great though!

Ha, that's what I'm looking for Jasjot! Only in 4x100!

Ha, the only luggage on mine were pillows, sleeping bags, jackets and towels!

How did you find the boot space during your long trip? I think it carries enough stuff for 1, slightly packed trying to fit things for 2 people. Had to put stuff in back seat. Although really, cabrios can carry infinite things. Looking at your photos again I'm pretty torn between 15" weaves or 16" BBS reps!

Sunday Activity: Post Photo of your BMW as it sits now

Saw this lowered beauty this evening filling up on some delicious 98: (Sorry, couldn't resist!) -
Quick update over my phone: Got myself some facelift smiley lenses and headlights (no bulbs) that I was hoping to put in as my right bullseye headlight is cracked. My research was lacking, as it turns out the entire housing is interchangeable between PFL and FL (plus light rewiring) NOT the light itself! Then got told you could heat gun the lenses off and swap them over: after a little learning it seems that was also a pretty dumb idea, as the "smiley" part of it is created mostly by the cutout in the reflector (which isn't interchangeable), not the glass lens itself. While I had the lights out and already cleaned, I went and decided to scratch my project itch by taking care of the faded and chipped chrome trim around each headlight. Behold! Hopefully you can't notice it too much, (i can, and think it looks a world of difference) but I colourmatched and clearcoated the trim to the magnificence of the Cirrusblau! Think these subtle bits really make the car look clean and tidy.

Haven't followed the rules completely, but it's still a candid shot I took a few seconds after realising I was about to take my baby, all packed and ready, on it's first proper roadtrip: Pleased to say 800km later she is doing just as well as she left! (sans a whole lot of ash all over it from nights of bonfires!) -
Yeah I see now. Fortunately/unfortunately it was only the bulbs for sale. Have given them a super thorough clean and polish and have set them aside for the day I get some facelift assemblies for them to go into. Whoops!

Amateur hour here, I'm pretty sure there is a difference between facelift and prefacelift headlight assemblies? Picked up a pair of Smileys today, followed instructions to take the black light mounts out and found the mating hole locations were way out for the headlight. Can someone confirm they're not compatible? Wanna make sure I'm not crazy. Took a picture if you need to see what I mean, Haven't got the hang of my new phone in terms of the photo uploading game yet. Disappointed, but its alright. Thanks

I'll take one dude. PM sendin'
