  1. Hmmm I will check with my friend on that, he's got himself a Tech 2 kit on his cab. The sills are bigger to cover up the larger chassis rails on the cabriolet? You can see it in my signature picture the sides are a bit lower than the standard lip. As far as ripping bits off on a car for sale, it was more of a try my luck game. Offer them enough money and replacement parts and it could work out better for both parties. Certainly valid though.
  2. Will do a bit of investigating to see how the sideskirts sit against the cabriolet. Rough ballpark for what something like this should cost? $500-$1000, $1000-$1500? I'd be expecting something around $1000, but that is just pie in the sky with no concrete reference points.
  3. Hi all, Stumbled on this listing again and noticed this time around the bodykit on this pfl E30. The rear bumper for my cab is a little worse for wear, and a set of Tech 1 M-sport valences is definitely on the "want" list (albeit a bit far down!). 3 amateur-hour questions for fellow knowledgeable forum members: What kind of bodykit is this? Is it compatible with the cabriolet structure? What would be a reasonable offer for a kit such as this? About to offer silly money if it somehow turns out to be a Tech 1 kit It seems the rear bumper looks a little similar to a Tech 1 M-sport kit with the upwards slope... A bit of digging shows generally sideskirts don't fit easily onto the cabriolet models, but without knowing the kit in question it's hard to do any specific searching. Thanks in advance for your help, no other pictures in the listing aside from this one here: A relic Trademe auction in 2012 photo that our friend Carjam managed to remember: Link for those who want to sweep in and buy it :thumb: : http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/320i/auction-653900092.htm
  4. I know it's "only" primer at this stage, but is dust in your garage a big problem for painting? I wet the floor in mine to do a simple aerosol spray for my spoiler and had to do it 3 times due to flecks etc getting into the clearcoat. Hate to think how it'd be full size with a compressor!
  5. My friend is interested in front shocks. Details on the condition? (and as Glenn mentioned, price please)
  6. After 3 attempts for a perfect paint of the tech1 spoiler, the beauty is now fixed to the beast! (mild beast)

  7. That spoiler is looking super nice Andy, you've just beaten me to the punch for recent tech1 on E30 cabs! Having only seen one on Rowan's lowered cab it is certainly useful to see another one on more standard heights. (I'm currently respraying my little panel for the 3rd time, having had a tiny bit of experience painting and detailing my OCD is becoming a nightmare as I try to match the amount of orange peel in the clearcoats. I can see it a little in your picture as well. Aerosol clear is pretty awful for orange peel, but being able to walk in and buy an aerosol of cirrusblau is pretty great.) More pics of your interior and the new spoiler? Cheers!
  8. Bet that was the answer you were hoping for Luke!
  9. Any fellow Bimmersporters able to shed some light on these wheels? Much appreciated
  10. What kind of wheels are on there? Any more pictures and details? I am semi-asking for others.. Living in Auckland shipping them up here may be a bit prohibitive. However, I am very keen to get some wheels for my cab!

    E30 bits + spares

    Ha, if I'm not mistaken:
  12. I have been contemplating buying some 1800 grit sandpaper and giving it a go. I am quite skeptical of this idea as I've tried with 1000 on another project and the final part was quite cloudy. Doesn't help that the clearcoat is a laquer, relatively "soft" and takes a bit of time to go off properly.

    E30 bits + spares

Hi Andrew, Any further information on the RS's? Are they genuine? Cracks or buckles? Need some shoes for the cab, looking for LM's, but 4x100 wheels don't come up that often (relatively).
  14. Will do when it's all together! I had a big cleaning and painting marathon yesterday, then I had a 2 hour sobbing session when the clearcoat decided to spit a pretty visible blob onto my nice, 3 coat, immaculate paint. Already had to strip all the paint off the first time when a couple of friendly bugs decided they wanted to bury themselves in the fresh cirrusblau, so I was pretty sad when the second clearcoat decided to just skim my finger and form a speck to fall nicely into the outgoing spray. Unfortunately unlike paint, I can't just spray more coats of clearcoat to try and hide the clearcoat drop... I'll try it a few times though! Big thanks to Chris for the chrome windscreen trim. I'm going downstairs to check with our reception girl just about every hour to see if it's arrived. Still waiting! Hopefully will get these mods done during the long weekend, but it's looking like work is going to have something to say about that!
  15. Thanks to David/Silver Fox, I have now got myself an actual tech 1 spoiler! The panel has been primed, painted and is awaiting a couple of clearcoats before I attempt to mount it next weekend. Ha, thanks again Bimmersport forums!
  16. Yeah it's quite misleading. The diagram shows them as if they were attached, but it seems they are in fact separate assemblies. I'm pretty sure the larger (tech 1) spoiler is attached regardless of the smaller (OEM) one being there or not.
  17. As per the title, I am currently looking for an E30 Tech1 spoiler. It is item 5 assembly in the image below: I know it's pretty unlikely, but I thought the same with my E30 vert which I found through posting on this forum anyway! Going to the States mid Nov, with the exchange rate as it is I might try to pick it up while I'm there! Thank you.
  18. I am corrected. Spoke to my good friend tonight who is relatively experienced with E30's and it is in in fact just a standard E30 spoiler. Looking around some diagrams I have got myself a reasonably good condition rear spoiler (P/N: 1 916 038). Was looking for your Tech 1 spoiler though (P/N: 9 057 958). I understand they are extremely rare. Big call, but anyone know of any going? Ha, I am going to the States mid November. With how the exchange rate is going I am tempted to pick one up there and bring it back. I am thinking of grinding off the studs in this OEM spoiler though, and attaching it temporarily to the car as a bit of a fun project (got myself some SEM trim black and it's been a while since I had a good sanding and prepping session). I can't tell through any drawings I've found but I imagine the fastening points might not be the same for OEM and 2 piece Tech1 spoilers? If they're the same I might drill through instead. Apologies for hijacking your fantastic thread!
  19. I've been wondering, amateur question, but your spoiler is in fact not the Tech 1 spoiler right? I doing some forum palaeontology I found you asking for a Tech 1 spoiler sometime back. Your spoiler seems to be a 2 part component, I've gotten myself a Tech 1 spoiler, the part numbers match with my tech 1 research, but it looks quite a bit smaller to yours. Going deeper in another thread it seemed like you and Ray from HellBM did a bit of work before you found this final piece. It is identical to what I'm also looking for, after seeing in on the r3vlimited forums with "Nina/Simone" I've been looking for one for a while now.
  20. Sweet photos mate. My friend and I are keen to bring our cabbies along (if we're invited) when you decide to meet up. From the looks of things we're going to have all different coloured cabbies for our cabrainbow
  21. Definitely looks like an intriguing platform!
  22. Saw this listing for some 15" BBS replicas. Amateur question, but any idea how the 8" wheels will sit in an E30 cab? Am currently looking around for some wheels and lowering hardware. Anyone have any comments or experience on runnning replicas? $600 with shipping to Auckland is reasonable? I'm in no hurry really. Thanks again, http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=649393321
  23. Thanks for the advice Jon. Jumped the gun a bit there, big time. Will keep in mind for my future blurts!
  24. Ooh! Keen. Where abouts are you based?
  25. What's with the humongous paved footpath bulge island area thing?
