Hi, I've decided that I've had enough of the chrome trim around my door windows. Im looking for a DIY of how to remove the trim on a sedan and also what type of primer and paint should I be using? The tutorials I saw were for coupes which people say are quite different from sedans when removing the trim. Cheers

Just an update I have purchased a VPN which puts my computer connection in the netherlands. The speeds aren't too bad I guess as I was only gettign 500kbps on avg before and now with the vpn roughly 350kbps. Currently only have the vpn on my computer but haven't put it on the other computers in the house. Don't think i really need to since my laptops the only one used for downloading. Hopefully its worth the $10 a month

Replaced my interior lights with LED bulbs but every so often when I start the car they bulbs stop working. When I turn the car off the bulbs still don't work then next time when I start the car they go again. I heard this was a common problem with the led's but I think I need to add a resistor to the circuit and just wondering what one I need. (Don't know much about them). I Believe the problems with the T10 Bulbs for the rear passenger ones. Cheers

Have a E46 318i and looking to feed a wire from the interior of the car to the engine bay. On the internet I see that they use the existing holes from behind the glove box that seems to appear in an open space in the engine bay but I've search around for mine and I can't find the same place. Is it easier to feed from inside the car cabin to the engine back or vice versa? cheers

Hi, Im trying to remove my indicators to get some water out of them. I've read online that I need to put a flat head screw driver in that hole in the picture and press forward. All i see is that grey thing with a screw it in. Do i need to undo the screw first? or am I meant to be pressing something else forward that I can't see? Edit: DW Problem Solved. I was looking at pre facelift instructions instead i had to undo the screw.

glad your enjoying it. keep us informed on how the repairs go. Hopefully its nothing too major. -
+1 on a well maintained 318i. What will u be using your car for? Do you really need the extra horses and expenditure that will come with the list of problems from the pre-purchase inspection. In reality a 318i will go a whole lot faster than a broken 330i sitting in a repair shop.... just my opinion. Listen to Glenn and everyone else.

I wouldn't buy it.. I was in the same boat looking at 330i's 328i's for around your budget earlier this year but all the ones that were in that price range were duds and not worth the hassle. I ended up settling for a 318i as it was in way better condition, lower km's and had a good pre purchase inspection.

wasn't really planning on an HID kit conversion as i know they are illegal and really annoying for other motorist. At this point I will probably just go with a simple angel eyes installation and maybe try find some better bulbs. I've also read of some DIY non projector to projector on 46fanatics but i think its a little out of my comfort zone doing that and i assume that would be illegal as well?

I've been thinking about changing my headlights for a while now but end up never doing it. Currently I have standard non-projector headlights which are alright but don't look as good as the projector versions. I have a facelift e46 318i and was thinking of maybe purchasing these. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-...n-392181885.htm but they seem a bit pricey and im not sure if I want to spend that much. Main reason for wanting a change is that the light output from my standard headlights with standard bulbs don't seem to emit enough light and is very poor when its raining. Another reason is that I wanted angel eyes as well but I could probably install some ccfl ones into my current lights but will still lack the light output. I just want some of your opinions whether the projector lights are worth it. Cheers

Nah its a Singapore import. Power is surging through my park lights when i lock or unlock it as my led park lights light up for minute but the turn signals don't. Thanks anyway

Hi, I'm just wondering if there may be a problem with my electrics of my car or if my car just doesn't have the correct functions. I used a BMW Scanner 1.4.0 to recode the car to flash when its locked and unlocked. I selected the optical arming and optical disarming boxes, coded and tested but they don't flash when using the remote. My car doesn't have a factory alarm but I read that it should still work which selecting these options? Can anyone help out? BTW for a E46 Facelift 318i Cheers

cool thanks. i'll let you know. just toying with the idea of changing to led.
-
Just want to confirm the lengths that I should be buying to replace the interior bulbs. I read that people are using between 36mm to 41mm leds. Cheers

cool just ran it on virtual box and found quite a lot of errors.. good tool tho.

just got one of these. But having problems installing it on my laptop. Running Windows 7 64bit and everytime I try and install the drivers, it says it cannot find any. Directed it to the drivers folder but still no luck? Anyone advice?

Yea, although it annoyed me I just couldn't remember where the wire on my previous lights went, shorted a few fuses trying to figure it out so in the end I just left it.

I had the same issue with my old e36, at first I had some aftermarket depo clear tails which had a wiring connecting 2 tracks together (Didn't get the Tail Light Failure Warning). After they started leaking I got some off Brent which were Genuine BMW clear tails I immediately got the warning light. Was later told that apparently ones for a 318is won't work properly for a 320i as they have different pin configurations but work fine. After that i just gave up. was happy as long as they worked

bump. anyone got an ideas before i take it to get checked out? Just did a bit of research and many people online seem to have the same problem
