sweet. will def be taking my car there to get it checked out. Thanks for the the info everyone
-
Thanks for that. Yea don't really want to be paying peopel to rip the dash out to find no problem. Haven't gotten around to it yet but found a local place on wairau road that mite be able to do it just need to find some time and drop in and ask. Anyone tried those mobile services? or are they just for building air con?
-
Yea im not too fussed. I think i read somewhere on the net about the metal clips aswell. Might just use some double sided tape or get some velcro to fix it. Basic simple DIY but yea.
-
they said they cudn't really do much to fix the problem. So i couldn't be bothered arguing as they did an alright job on everything else and they didn't charge me to get the pillars done. Just doesn't look too good as its not flush anymore.
-
okay well since getting my car reupholstered i've noticed that my a pillar on my drivers side had been hanging a bit. Went over a speed bump and it came off. Looked behind and saw the clips had been broken. I talked to the place that reupholstered the them and they said that they broke when they removed it but they can't do anything about it. Is there anyway I can put it back up to make it look tidier again? Tried some temp solutions like blutack but thinking of something maybe like velcro strips on the back of it?

cool yea will do. Just looking for a local place to take my car to now. Cheers

Okay well since my I got my BMW i haven't really been bothered with getting the air con checked since it was winter when I bought it and there wasn't really much need for it except for de-misting the windscreen. But now a couple months of summer has made me think its time to get something done about it. Currently it blows out kind of warm air. Does this suggest it needs to be re-gassed or would it suggest I need replacement parts. Cheers

yea that is a reasonable price. Its a bmw after all. Price for a coupe rear window is like 350$ from jerry clayton so 200 is a reasonable price i think.

I paid $400 for my headliner to be redone, so I say its a pretty fair. They said it costed an extra $50 because of the sun roof.
-
Was thinking about doing that but wouldn't it be just cheaper to buy a 325i? Mite jsut stick to this for a while and upgrade later:p. only thing i dislike so far is the wheel spins when reversing outta step driveways:P seems to happen to me quite a bit, maybe its just my tyres

Hi, Nah was going to do it my self but then i got lazy and decided to pay people to do it. for the door cards where roughly 60$ each (reglue all the broken parts and including the material.) and the head liner was 450$ 400 if u don't have a sun roof.
-
Haven't actually done this before but been a member for a while now but only recently decided to keep it for while before I decide to upgrade to a newer one. Got it in July last year with roughly 76000km on the clock. Jap import. Since i've had it, i've replaced the cowell cover, rubber seals on the rear windows, got the door cards repaired & re-upholster along with roof and changed to clears all around the car. Thanks to everyone on this site who has already helped me with info and advice. Here are some pics.

found the problem. wasn't actually the window it was the door weather strip, was seeping thru the top somehow? but only when i fire the hose directly at the gap between the b pillar and glass. hopefully it should be fine through normal rain? if anyone has a set of weather strips for the drivers side door of a e36 coupe for sale im interesting in buying it.

Hi everyone, I recently just changed the rubber around my coupe windows as they looked a bit old and ratty. But today i was just giving my car a little wash and sprayed the windows and then saw a water dripping on the seat. Before i changed the rubbers I didn't have a leak so maybe I put the rubber in the wrong position? I think its the one that archs around the curve of the window.

okay tonight was the only free time i had the whole weekend to have a go at removing the adhesive strips on the vent rubber. Spent the last 2 hrs with meths and a cloth rubbing as hard as I could on the rubber trying to get it off but still lots of it is still there. Is there any other trick to it? the meths doesn't seem to be helping to much? not making it crumble as i thought it would edit. even started using a hair dryer on it atm during the nite to try and soften it up.
-
thanks nick will give it another go now cheers Th

Thanks Nick. Oh BTW to fully remove the window, I can't manage to remove the seat belt thing which adjust the height of the seatbelt. The little plastic tab u press to go up or down. This is the last step stopping me from actually removing the window.... kinda stumped and i don't want to break it.

Just recieved my order for some new rubber bits for my car but now having trouble removing the old rubber which is stuck on by adhesive strips. only able to get like 1cm off at a time so is taking awhile. Edit: okay i got the rubber off now. but the adhesive strips are still there. Would anythign like meths help remove it?

Prefer to be somewhere in auckland so I can pick up:) but will pay for shipping -Underdash steering wheel panel (grey colour) -Condensation door panel (thing between door and door cards for both passenger and drivers door) -The little corner piece of the dash on the passenger side by the glovebox (small interior piece) grey colour. see image - Drivers side door weatherstrip think thats all for now. Thanks in advance Post, PM or give me a text 021 399 304 Cheers

Just looking for some door cards as the ones I have the vinyl is basically crap now and 2 trimming places i've talked to said that they can't replace the vinyl, only the inserts. Also all the clips holders that the clips go into have all separated from the door cards so they're basically just hanging there. Would prefer the greyish coloured vinyl cards but if there are black ones I will most likely take em unless someone can point out a place which will actually fully restore em for me somewhere in auckland or the north shore. Btw the inserts don't have to be perfect as I will get those redone if necessary Pretty gutted how I missed out on leather seats and door cards on trademe. Think it was brents?

Awesome E36. Very clean and tidy. Great work Nick

Spotted Nick021 on Glenfield Road this arvo/evening. Saw me in my crappy 320i which needs some work on. Didn't realise the car until it had passed me.
-
Umm i think u wud be after ones like this TradeMe The ones above are for e46. I got mine replaced with clear front ones from bmw but should have looked on trademe for some cheaper ones:p yea whoops were supposed to be these ones updated

I resprayed my door cards with some vht black vinyl dye. Went back the next day to repco and was told that there was no more stock and they were not likely to be restocking them anytime soon. What other brands will do a good job? im assuming the vht quick dry paint isn't as good?
