ok but this doesnt solve my steering lock problem, i cant turn the key to the 1st position to release the barrel locking pin, i can pry at it with a crow bar lol but i may damage something, how do i remove the steering wheel?

ok, what about 2nd hand of another E34? im not paying hundreds of dollars for that, i only payed 1000 for the car lol, at this present time im just trying to get it going. i can start the car with the electric switch off the side of the housing but the steering lock is stuck on.

Hi everyone, i read the diy ignition barrel removal but no good, the ignition barrel is stuck in the off position meaning my steering lock is constantly on, any ways around it? dont want to ruin to much lol, some dickhead decided to screw driver the key hole and wrecked it, this is from the prev owner anyway, but dont worry lemon check shows and proves its a clean car so all good there, i just cant steer the f-en thing! any help guys?

is that a complete running motor ready to bolt in? i want something to replace my motor, a bolt in replacement, i dont want to have to build a whole motor, so if your motor is complete and running and ready to bolt straight in ill concider it.

Hi guys im looking for a new engine for my E34, its a 1988 520i and it has a shagged head gaskit, it has had the die test thingo for exhaust gasses and it proved positive, seeing as its only a crappy 2.0ltr ill just put in something a little bigger, and something that will also bolt upto my 5speed getrag, as far as i know its the old shitty looking SOHC m20 engine, let me know if any1 knows of any motors or what ever, or any good ideas or possibly just replacing my head gaskit, the motor still runs but it over heats. cheers Rob

pretty sure its the m20 motor, just the single cam head, hidious looking thing, what other motors will my getrag bolt onto? might just do a motor replacement.

Hey guys im new here, buying an e34 and has a cooling problem thats y its so cheap, sounds like a head gaskit prob, is it easy to DIY? or would it be easier to save hassle and buy a new engine? help would be greatly appreciated. also if i was to go for a bigger engine like a 2.5 or 3lte will my 5speed gearbox bolt up to these engines and what sort of certs will i need to be legal? cheers Rob

I used to work in a BMW garage back in aust, i seen alot of e36 beemas with this feature, mainly on the twin tip exit mufflers, the actuators opened when car was warm and at higher revs, its possibly a back pressure feature. I could be wrong but please dont hesitate to correct me.

Ha ha bummer, well that's what you get lol, I've noticed the e34 isn't a favored car for a lot of BMW enthusiasts? Why is that, I know they are a big heavy car but that doesn't mean sh*t really, found heaps of early 5 series on you-tube with turbo's etc and they go really hard and handle well. M5 kit and some nice wheels and they look a million bucks. If anyone has any helpful info on e34 bmw's please let me know. cheers Rob

Well NO# 1 Chrome is for 15 year olds, NO#2 You will ruin any car by sacking it (lowering it) I seen an e34 dropped on chromies on the weekend up in hamz, no offence to who it may be but it really looks like sh*t and i bet its major cop bait, you probly have a better chance getting away with it if you handed yourself into the cop shop then drive something that stands out like dogs balls. Thats why i dont like dumping cars on chromies. A nice set of silver 18's lowered nicly to look good is the way to go, not lowered so far that you tuck half your rear wheel.

im 20 lol, couldnt think of a more normal name, but i spose a mod can help me change that, im picking up the car on sat, $1000 cash, 2ltr 5speed with sunroof, current rego and wof, cant complain, its cheap and nice. the crappy little 2ltr is something small and cheap until the m power makes way for something along the jza lines or rb etc... asoon as i get her home ill post pics. cheers Rob
