Both Labour and National are looking to have the limits reviewed here in the Wairarapa.  Nobody is happy with this change.

Reviewing NZTA would mean acknowledging a government department was a failure, and they really don't want that.

In the meantime, there is endless diatribe around "speed kills" and no effort to address the true underlying factor - driver skill or ability. Yes - inappropriate speed can cause accidents, but idiots driving at 5km/h below the speed limit in terrible conditions cause far, far more - and worse - accidents.

If a political party said they’d review NZTA, review political capture of their operations, and focus on other things in addition to speed, people would notice?

NZTA are an over-sized under-performing governmental anachronism. They don't actually do anything, other than collect money. No-one there actually contributes directly to anything: they simply engage a sub-contractor who will engage their own sub-contractors, who delegate and sub-contract... More layers than a really good Baklava, and every layer is taking money out of the system.

I read that it is estimated that for every $100 spent, around $22 finds its way to the road and those people working on it.

Yeah, I just figured that out. WTF Who has a 'sale' but doesn't advertise it? Did anyone get a email from trademe about this? I didn't.

    Can’t even spell manual properly…

Yes, I got the e-mails from TradeMe all four of them!

I got two emails - one the day before, and one on the day.
Have missed receiving them in the past, though.

Provided you can get it cheap enough (sub $1.5k) it could be a good contender for a project car.

I would be ripping the 4-pot out and looking into putting either a 335i or 335d motor in there with a few goodies on, with a decent set for rims and some paint would be awesome.

love a Bimmer touring me, and a manual touring is a good place to start.

Sold for $2770. I'd not have been surprised to see $3k, but at least a modicum of sense prevailed.
Even if the auction was extended 40-odd times.

"Sorry vehicle is stored off site so unable to confirm if Sunroof" kinda sums up just how much effort and interest Turners have in the cars they sell.

When you arrive to drop off some wheels tyres and the fella says "oh, I thought I was buying a whole car" 🤦‍♂️

Saw a set of throwing stars with a $7k asking price earlier.
Yup - I'd want a car with them, too! A good one.

Mr Beacham, owner of Beachams, had restoration work done by... Beachams, to increase the 'value' of a car from $10k to $100k. It could be argued that there is $90k worth of work there, somewhere.

Did Mr Beacham reach into his own pocket and transfer funds to his company to pay for the work done? If not, then the company absolutely had a part to play in this.

  7. I've never found him quite so enthralling. Doubtless a great driver, but seemed (despite some racing success) to be more about showmanship than anything else, but I was raised on a diet of British and Scandinavian, and other European rally drivers.

    Americans seemed to worship him.

Reportedly an all-round nice bloke. Just finished helping his daughter build an Audi Quattro.

    (In my opinion, experience, etc.)
