Unless this car was your great grandmothers hand me down with non-economic value to you, this car will never see the road again.new owner should take it for a $70 wheel alightment at thier corner tyre dealer note the front caster values, that will tell you everything you need to know. its a banana.
Not going to lie,
That comment along with your ones on the turners Facebook post honestly seem to be nothing but trying to scare people off so they don't bid against you...
even if it fetched 20k (which is what I would say it will fetch roughly and wouldn't at all be surprised it it does), looking at what they have been listed for it would still be well worth it.
Taking it for a $70 wheel alignment is not going to tell you much as it would greatly depend where (unlikely) it was bent. and the only way to do this *properly* is tramming it or getting a 3d chassis measure (needed as part for the repair certification process anyway). you can see pretty clearly, that the hit has gone all but straight in above the bumper and has just dragged the radiator supports back.the whole "write off" persona in this country is completely floored as a "write off" has nothing to do with what the actual damage is and is solely reliant on values. for someone who has a front clip floating about (seems to be alot floating around after seeing this) this is a dead easy repair. with the correct procedures in place (hence repair certification), even if you had to put a rail in it it is absolutely achievable and still worthwhile.
In the situation of the above car, it likely isn't even a value issue. it's more likely an issue of available parts....
And before anyone jumps, We deal with repair certifiers on a daily basis putting insurance write offs back on the road. From small side swipes, to replacing complete chassis rails to chassis and body swaps
TLDR.... if the new owner parts it out... they need their head checked

but... its "too structurally" damaged to repair... honestly wish he would just tell the truth and say that he can make more money out of parting it than repairing it smh

On the lookout for a ZF 8hp 50 or 70 8 speed auto
Anything out there?

as someone who works in price integrity at a Bunnings branch, head office are usually on the ball when it comes to this stuff!
quite often the price changes are pushed through before we get our new labels/tpr's out on the shelves!

There is nothing to say the 318i shell isn't from a stolen car (no history of where that shell came from, just that it was a 318i), and if anyone in authority (wof inspector, certifier, police etc) can prove the tags don't match the shell, it's 100% game over, you would probably have to reshell it again, properly.
It's no different to my M328i, which was a full M3 conversion into a 328i shell. I couldn't just plate and tag it (like this e30), it had to remain registered as a 328i and be certified for the modifications.
there are processes and procedures in place to do a vin swap when doing a shell replacement.
in this situation, it has not been followed and could very easily cause issues further down the line if it was ever discovered at time of a warrant or whatever.
key giveaway is the lack of sunroof in this situation -

There are plenty of options to spread out the demand, it will just take some incentives to get people to adjust their behavior.
I wonder how much less demand there is on the grid now that we are not refining petrol at Marsden point?....
so, the problem is not the amount of power we generate as a country. it is the delivery infrastructure
we have a family member who works as a grid manager for Orion, and have had several in depth conversations with them about the difficulties they are facing with the governments mind numbing blindness to all the other issues and infrastructure challenges that EV's cause.
Our current supply network in the majority of the country is not not capable of delivering a solution to a mass adoption of EV vehicles. for an example, There has just been a multi million dollar sub station placed out the back of Rolleston to power the majority of Rolleston, this was finished early last year and was expected to last for a further 5-7 years of development out that way. HOWEVER, only 18 months later and this substation is at its peak capability due to the mass expanse of Rolleston and the surrounding areas. yes, they can pull another line down from the HV lines running down the south island and build another substation but the cost is monumental when they have to start doing this to literally cater for EV's. This is only 1 example, there are literally hundreds of other examples like this.not only is the supply grid not upto standard, the supply lines to older houses are also not upto standard when you start looking at households that end up with multiple EV's. these are all issues that Orion are already facing with the small uptake we have currently.
Our current network can not support what people (the gubberment) are looking to achieve, the amount of money that needs to be spend to deliver infrastructure to support it is truly mind blowingfurther comments above were trying to say that electric vehicles will be remarkedly cheaper to run than a traditional vehicle, this is simply not going to be true. you look at normal service items (tires, brakes, cv's that sort of stuff) and the maintenance cost will be about the same as a dinosaur burning monster. yet, you have a stupid amount of $$$ required every 10 years ish (if you are lucky it will be that long) for replacement battery packs. if you actually look at it, on the grand scheme of things it will be much of a muchness in regards to running costs. I would be very surprised if we don't see something along the lines of a independent electricity rate for EV chargers.
now speaking of battery packs, are EV's really "cleaner" than current solutions? absolutely not. the footprint of a modern EV can arguably be pointed as being the same, if not bigger than a traditional vehicle over its lifetime. where do the batteries go, sure, they can be recycled... sent to the other side of the world on ughhhhh dinosaur burning ships. oooo the irony, what about the pollutants released when we start having mass amounts of fires both caused from the EV itself and overloading of infrastructure
Call me a cynic or whatever you want but on so many levels this proposed mass adoption seems wrong for so many reasons... as with anything on this planet, it's not what we are doing but the amount in which we are doing it. If suddenly you could click your fingers and every.single.vehicle was electric there would be other issues based on the numbers..... still comes down to the plain and simple fact that the world id overpopulated! bring back natural selection hahaha
to be clear, I am not against the implementation of the EV at all, however trying to push for a mass adoption is the worst idea. but it's a catch 22 as no vehicle manufacturer is really coming out with a "better" alternative at this point!
Bit of a rant! enjoy!

Note to self; check house contents insurance covers car parts in garage!
Usually speaking, there is only a "generic car parts cover" with a total of $2000 on a contents policy unless specifically agreed with your insurance company.... ask me how we know, our garage burnt down 8 years ago
pays to make a phone call and find out
