Hi Hans, I'm looking for E36 LTW too, though its not urgent. Where were you planning to bring one in from and what approx cost have you found?
-
I notice there's a manual 328i with basic track prep on Trademe for 4.5k. Not sure if it is Connor's. My link insertion is not working sorry... listing # 1000106173
-
Hi, yes the car is in Auckland. Either PM me or call 021 222 0100.

Hi Andy, not sure if it's what you are after (it's more a classic/collectable rather than a project) but my father will be looking to sell his 2002 Bauer Cabriolet sometime soon. I posted some pics in Gallery of it after full Jaymic resto in UK. It has twin dellortos, alpina cam and sway bars, bilstein shocks. Hasn't been driven much since being brought to NZ in early 90s. PM me if interested.

In case you want something a little different my father will need to sell our much loved 2002 Bauer Cabriolet soon. It had full Jaymic resto in UK before bringing it back here and still pretty tidy. Has twin dellortos and mild alpina cam and bilsteins so goes nicely. PM if interested.

I took some reasonably new Monroes (30k km) out of my M3 when putting in new coilovers so I have the front shocks/struts (with or without spring) and they don't owe me much $ if you need a quick fix. Monroes aren't fantastic IMHO but better than buggered OEM. PM me if interested.

WTB: M3 S50 3.0 bottom end parts or whole engine
Family Wagon replied to Family Wagon's topic in Want to buy
Hi Jon, thanks very much for the tips. Is the Arron Harris engine the S50B32 with Shrick cams? Unfortunately that's out of my budget and hard to know condition internally but yeah I noticed that. I'll dig into the Tech section and maybe PM Geoff. Thanks again! -
An oil disaster in track testing a couple of weeks ago caused some serious damage in my poor old M3s S50 B30 engine; bearings, crank and con rods. I'm wondering if anyone has any spares or whole engines? So gutted, the car was getting dialled in nicely and a blast to drive and I was eyeing up production class racing in Sept, which looks like a long shot now Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I'm looking for the front lower Lip / splitter to go on M3. Would you separate and if so what price?
-
Nice one, looks tidy. I recently put a Z3 rack in my E36 M3 track car. I LOVE IT. The M3 should have come like that from factory.

Test day, Pukekohe Friday 7th August
Family Wagon replied to HappyH00ker's topic in Track Day Events
Thanks for the headsup John, It sounds awesome and I'd have been keen but blew an oil line connector and spun a bearing in my E36 M3 at Puke testing a couple of weekends ago so still off the road :-( -
Ok thanks for the advice, yes it looks like lip needed to fill that space. Basic aero is on my list so looking at options though I've got quite a few other things I can/should to do first.

I'm interested in one of these too, for my track M3 build. I'm missing the standard plastic front lip (as you spotted the other day Dave) and wondering if you have to have the standard lip in place for ofor this to fit? It's one of the reasons I'm looking at an aftermarket splitter, as an alternative to OEM lip. Also when they say 'should be used with rear wing', i take it they mean larger wing than the stock E36 M3 wing or is the oem wing ok? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

True, I think rebuilt units could be found for the new price of the solenoid. I've got a number of track days lined up (already paid for) so the timeframe to source a whole unit from offshore would be a bit of a problem. I've got a the second hand solenoid coming up from down the line tomorrow, but before we install it I have to ensure there's no chance of resurrecting the existing solenoid or tracing the problem elsewhere. I'm certainly blowing my vanos rebuild budget. I bought the beisan kit and thought it'd be more straight forward... Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated!!
-
Hey Dave That's an awesome offer to test the solenoid at your place. Where are you based? If nothing else I'd just love to see your car! We can PM about the details. Second hand part seems to run about six hundy or so. New was $1k +
-
Hi Kelvin, yes, that's a good suggestion about the circuit board, and I'm aware the wires themselves can dry and break but they seemed to think it is shorting inside the solenoid. I'll do more quizzing in the morning and see.
-
Thanks Dave, I know, it's weird to fail that way. I quizzed my mech and they say they've cleaned and tested it umpteen times, they think it's shorting within the actual solenoid. There's a second hand one available from down the line, but you are right I need to be 100% sure my current one can't be recovered. Even second hand they are pricey.

Hi Nathan, I've been running Hawk Blue 9012s in my E36 M3 for track and pretty happy with them. On standard 315mm rotors, not sure it's the same on the 325? They seemed cheapest bang for buck option to me. Grab hard when warm but can modulate, handle heat fine, though I understand newer tech pads like the Pagid Yellows are kinder on rotors. They are quite messy on wheels though not really an issue on track. Gene @ Racer products does them or Evan @ Speedfactor.

Hi there, Looking for a Vanos Solenoid for E36 M3 1995 NZ New S50B30. Existing one seems to be failing intermittently, everything else in the Vanos has been rebuilt. Hoping to find one quickly and not too crazy $ - track day on Monday!
-
Sounds like the right way to go. I'm dialling in coil-overs and my own driving first before playing around with the sway-bars.
-
Great, will be good to hear how those springs go. Are you running OEM front sway bar or uprated? I'm doing an M3 track car project currently so have been loving reading your project log
-
I think you're probably right there Richard, seems quite a gap between asking and what cars eventually move for at the moment. I got the black high KM 3.0 Coupe last month (asking 11.5) for the lower end of the range you mentioned because it needs quite a bit of work and owner going overseas. It worked for me because I needed to replace a lot of these things for track prep anyway. A nice Dakar 3.0 coupe in Wellington I looked at with good track prep done went for between 15 and 16k in January, which surprised me given how slow the market has been but the seller had done some excellent work on the car and presented it really well. I probably should have got that car and saved a lot of work as I'll probably be spending that total budget on my cheapie M3 by time I've finished. I'd love to see your cars sometime, I'll try and make the next coffee catch-up.

Very interesting to hear about the result of the mech inspection though, thanks for sharing that. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Yep I drove that car and figured the vanos needed refresh with the kits, that's pretty normal at that kms. I suspect they mean valve cover gasket leaking oil, not head gasket? Also the repair estimate is dealer price... If u take it to Ross at BM workshop you'd get a realistic idea, he's close and I understand he's worked on that car in the past. WTB: E36 M3 Brake cooling air ducts + X brace & more
Family Wagon replied to Family Wagon's topic in Want to buy
Hey guys, sorry still getting hang of the forum settings and missed these replies. I've now got some schnitzer 17x8.5s with R888s for the square setup, picking up tomorrow so will see how these go. I've found an used x brace from a member and picking up tomorrow. I've sourced some ducted backing plates for cheap that I can mate up to inlet ducts via flexi duct but need to check if i can mod factory pickups (havent purchased yet) or get the custom ones that match the backing plates. However I'll check SweetM3 thread on brake cooling first, thanks for the tip!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
