  8. Hi Hans I'm in Christchurch. Cool, i'm not actually ready to buy just yet as i'm halfway through 2 other projects on the car that i have to finish first an heading to Formula 1 next month so between that and the car, i'm pretty poor till i get back.
  9. Aha perhaps valance was the wrong word, you call it the IS lip... Sweet and i can order one from my local BMW dealership? Do you have a part number on hand by any chance? I'll make some enquiries. Does anyone make the locally? This what mine is missing, keen to get hold of one, i'll make some enquiries... Damn these cars are easy to spend money on with all the mods and changes you can make.

  11. Clutch needs replacing, it's done over 260,000kms and getting tired, get rid of the Getrag lean, the LSD is a 2.79 so the new box will bring the ratios back to where i want them and the whole point of the project when i started it was to have the the new running gear in the older car...

About to do this mod on my car, got myself some FD series 6 calipers, have heard people say they are different, but after some research, it appears that they are dimensionally identical and i figured its best to go with the newest parts available anyway. They look quite nice too once the Mazda logo is removed...
  13. Do i have to measure or check the distance between the tip of the input shaft and the bell housing, the main thing im worried about is finding the clutch isn't throwing out far enough or too much once i get it back in the car... just trying to do my homework...
  14. Hey guys Ok, i have a few questions about making sure this setup is going to work ok so here's the scenario... I am currently running an M52B28 with Getrag 240, E30 clutch, E30 starter, E30 flywheel and E30 slave cylinder... When i put the ZF transmission in, what am i going to have to replace or change? I've been researching online and getting conflicting results. I know i can use the starter, flywheel and clutch but do i have to change the slave cylinder or do i need to use a different throw out bearing or anything like that? I've read that these gearboxes are usually used with a dual mass flywheel so there is issues with the clutch throw and some people were debating whether the slave cylinders were compatible or not so i'd like to hear from someone who has used the exact same setup as me and if there were any issues etc. I know its a very common upgrade but with these sort of things there's also quite a lot of variables between people using different combos and a lot of people "think" they know but i wanna know from someone who has DONE it cos i don't have the time to have the car off the road for a week or two while i figure out problems as i go, i want to do this over one weekend. Please don't bring up driveshaft either, that's off topic and i know whats required in that area... Cheers in advance

  16. Hey guys Am looking to just finish off those annoying things that dont work or are broken to bring the beast up to it's former glory, PM me if you can help with any of the following bits... The car is a 1990 Facelift E30 320SE NZ New Factory 5Spd • Mint condition front ashtray assy • M50B25 (M50 Manifold Upgrade) fuel rail cover • Front lower fog lights • Instrument cluster with working rev counter (mine is the motormeter one) PM me with prices etc and i will try get back to you as soon as possible...   18. No its originally a Getrag 240, which is what i am currently running, it leans over a touch but nothing major. I'd prefer the solution that doesnt require too much additional parts and fabricating which is looking like possibly just getting a 240 gearbox rebuilt to be honest... I'm getting conflicting information everywhere it turn so im not too sure, i dont really want to have to replace the driveshaft, trans crossmember and a bunch of other stuff just to have a specific gearbox in there... So far the options appear to be.. ZF320 Getrag 220 Getrag 240 (rebuilt) Be interested to know what modifications or changes would be required to run one of the other options...

  20. Am i still going to get that lean i currently have with the 240? I dont really know much about what model gearbox's came out of what cars so i just wanna make sure im doing it properly, i'd rather spend a bit more and do it properly and i dont really want to put another old gearbox in and would prefer something out of a 1995 > car if possible... I'm running a 2.9 LSD as well so would prefer something with no 5th gear overdrive.
  21. Hey guys My dirty old getrag 240 is at the end of its life, can someone tell me what my options are for replacing it. I'm running an M52B28 in my 1990 E30, currently running a lightened flywheel, 240 gearbox and standard driveshaft assy. I've heard people talk about the ZF boxes from the newer model E36 etc but are there any other options i can go for as i understand these are hard to find. Am i going to need a new flywheel (larger diameter) and will i need a shorter or longer driveshaft? If anyone can point me in the right direction or let me know if anyone has something they want to sell, would be much appreciated. Darren

  23. So it looks like I need to replace the clutch in my e30, I'm running an m52b28 with a factory getrag 240. I was hoping this would last till I got a ZF gearbox and was kinda hoping to do the gearboxes/flywheel/clutch all at once but it seems it's not going to let me do that now. I don't want a factory oem replacement but I also don't wanna spend $600-$700 on a high performance one either. Would love some suggestions as to what people have either used themselves or can recommend, I don't have massive horsepower so want something that's going to handle it but not overkill Cheers
