I had the same experience with mine. One of the greatest engines ever.
What excellent taste you have!

Looks great! Are they genuine M5 wheels?
Must be an import, given its high spec??

Absolutely mint Fiji Green E36 318is in Dunedin CBD just now. Number plate starting with Z.
Think I’ve seen it on here before. Looked stunning!

Beautiful colour and great engine!
Good buying too - sounds like the big ticket stuff has been tended to 😁

Hey fellas,
The E36 needs a new windscreen. Any recommendations for where to take it for replacement in Wellington?
Cheers!

Looks like a beautiful spec, Martyn. I love a dark green exterior over a light interior.

What kind of condition is it in?
E36 prices are all over the place at the moment. I would say condition is the most important factor when valuing these cars. If it is in good (or above) condition (mechanically and cosmetically), I would say 8.5k is a good price. I presume it's manual?

289k isn't bad going!
Very excited for the updates on this one. What's the plan? Get it up to the standard of the silver 540i? Keep, sell?

Nice E39 Stu! Is that Le Mans blue?
How many kms did it get to before the chains needed doing?
-
That looks like a brand new car. Great work

Super sorry to hear about that @qube.
I saw this this morning and thought of you - has some nice bits. Details are a bit sparse, but looks like a manual. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-3117800522.htm

Looks great! What method did you use?

153,800 kms.
Bit of basic maintenance today. Oil + filter change and new spark plugs.
The spark plugs definitely needed replacing! Seems to be running very slightly smoother, but that could be a placebo - it ran really great before.
Also got around to installing a factory head unit I've had lying around. I bought it off a guy from a Facebook group who had installed a Bluetooth unit in place of the tape deck (the Bluetooth plays over a blank CD). It works great - love the factory look.

+1 on E46 M3 or maybe an M235/40i
Alternatively, Porsche. Could get a 996 or a later Cayman for $50k.
This is super nice. Local, too

New BMW in Wellington! E39 530i
in New Member Introductions
Posted · Edited by BozzaFC · Report reply
G'day! Nah, no longer have the 5er. I sold it to a Wellington local after getting a great deal on an E39 540i Motorsport. I still see it floating around town .
I had the 530i just over a year and did more than 20,000kms in it. It was ridiculously reliable and a fantastic cruiser. I spent quite a bit on preventative maintenance and regular servicing (Vanos, cooling system, spark plugs, tyres), but nothing failed other than the radiator. The word of the day with BMWs is servicing - if you keep on top of it (fluids, spark plugs, filters etc) it will serve you well. The E39 is very DIY-friendly too.
Sounds like you've got yourself a great car. Oxford Green is a beautiful colour and 2003 is the last model year of the E39. You should start a thread for it!
