    Hi Boston!

Curious to know, do you still have ownership?

Recently bought my first car - It being an 03 530i with same, Oxford Green and black leather interior.

I've admired BMWs since I was much younger, thanks to my grandparents of course as they both owned them while I was growing up. The fact that I finally have one is truly a blessing (could also turn into a possible nightmare haha) especially considering it's my first car.

Whether you still have it not, I'd really love to know how it's been/was?

G'day!  Nah, no longer have the 5er.  I sold it to a Wellington local after getting a great deal on an E39 540i Motorsport.  I still see it floating around town :).

I had the 530i just over a year and did more than 20,000kms in it. It was ridiculously reliable and a fantastic cruiser.  I spent quite a bit on preventative maintenance and regular servicing (Vanos, cooling system, spark plugs, tyres), but nothing failed other than the radiator.  The word of the day with BMWs is servicing - if you keep on top of it (fluids, spark plugs, filters etc) it will serve you well. The E39 is very DIY-friendly too.

Sounds like you've got yourself a great car.  Oxford Green is a beautiful colour and 2003 is the last model year of the E39.  You should start a thread for it!

Minor update today: passed its WOF with flying colours. The inspector commented on how tidy it is, although he did struggle to locate the vin number.

Unfortunately no photo today as I drove it in the rain the other day and it is now filthy :(

  3. What kind of condition is it in?

E36 prices are all over the place at the moment. I would say condition is the most important factor when valuing these cars. If it is in good (or above) condition (mechanically and cosmetically), I would say 8.5k is a good price. I presume it's manual?

Small, but satisfying, update today. When I got the ‘36 I noticed the rear model designation emblem was sitting slightly too high. Finally got around to remedying that last weekend.

  5. 153,800 kms.

Bit of basic maintenance today. Oil + filter change and new spark plugs.

The spark plugs definitely needed replacing! Seems to be running very slightly smoother, but that could be a placebo - it ran really great before.

Also got around to installing a factory head unit I've had lying around. I bought it off a guy from a Facebook group who had installed a Bluetooth unit in place of the tape deck (the Bluetooth plays over a blank CD). It works great - love the factory look.
